    Definitely saving up to get one for myself. I bought its predecessor after a lot of research for my dad's 55th birthday to replace his Clavinova from the late eighties. Was one heck of an upgrade! Loved the feel of it myself and looking forward to getting the es-110 this year. Just a shame the Rhodes sound has very few gradations in its dynamics; but, you can easily use it with Pianoteq for incredible versatility, and it is a great instrument on its own merits especially for the price!

      Yeah, the EP sounds are some of the trickiest sounds for any keyboard to really get right, especially since the older electronics had variations and each keyboard could vary a little in sound. Plus, most people remember sounds in different ways, so in some ways, the poor sound designers can never really win with the Electronic Piano sounds. But Kawai is always tweaking and improving its sounds, so hopefully, in the next generation, they improve the dynamics!

      @@familypianoco Yeah, it must be difficult to model them more broadly without having to use significant resources, and most people buy digital pianos for the acoustic piano sounds. Kawai give excellent value for money and you can't get the works in an entry-level piano, at least with the cost involved for the tech at the moment. Thankfully I love the stock Rhodes sound in the es-100 and es-110, and it will be fine to get started with! It is incredible what digital piano manufacturers are able to produce these days at a very wallet friendly cost. Will be interesting to see what the future holds!

    Is the app the kawai piano remote? I notice on their website they don't show the es110 on the compatibility list. It just starts at the 120. Have they discontinued the version for the es110 or will it still work? This is always my fear when companies introduce apps to access hidden features.

    • @familypianoco
      @familypianoco  2 года назад

      The app for the ES110 is Kawai Sound Museum. Kawai Piano Remote is the newer app and will be compatible for the ES120 and the vast majority of Kawai's current digital line up (except for the CN series). It is definitely a nice step up from the older Sound Museum app in both aesthetics and functionality. You can access all the features of the ES110 from the keyboard itself, the sound museum app just helps to visualize and select your sound options in a nice, clean interactive app. We're very excited to try out the new ES120 in the next few months - it has a lot of very exciting upgrades over its predecessor like stronger speakers, more voices, and improved action! - Max

    Kawai Es110 or Korg B2?
    Any suggestions?

    • @familypianoco
      @familypianoco  3 года назад +3

      I mean, as a Kawai dealer, I have to admit I'm biased. I think the higher polyphony, and MIDI bluetooth of the Kawai ES110 are very compelling. I haven't had a chance to play the Korg myself though, so I can't speak definitively on the feel and sound, two obviously important considerations.

      Hello! Yes, you can play rhythms. It's a bit tricky, but they describe it on page 18 of the manual:

      Hi Gian, the ES110 in this video is on Kawai's HML-1 stand ($75) with the F-350 Triple Pedal Bar ($75), you can buy these online from Kawai or at your local Kawai Dealer (I'd recommend calling ahead to make sure they have them in stock). -Max

    Thanks for the review. What I'm trying to find out is if anyone has been able to connect the bluetooth via iPad to Homepod speakers. Seeing as Homepod speakers are pretty restricitve I'm going to say no but I'm hopeful. The sound and weight of just the keboard is what is drawing me closer to the 110 vs say Yamaha 410 or 310. Oh how is the key "noises" when played when wearing headphones. I have a 2008 ROland RD-700GX and the keys can be a bit loud. I may be going overseas for work and I'm looking for a digital that is lightweight, quiet and robust enough to ship via USPS. My Roland made it back in the day but it's right at the 70 lbs mail limit plus it arrived damaged since it's so heavy. I was able to get the parts and repair it myself but at 26 lbs this sh9ould be about the best digital for my needs. Key action sound is the "key" item for me to consider if I want to play it after others in the apartment have gone to bed. TIA.

      Thanks for the nuanced comment!
      I wish I had experience with the Homepod to share with you, but I don't think any of us here own one. I'll reply if I can find anything though.
      Great thoughts on finding your perfect digital too. I don't think I have any advice to share with you besides pack it well haha. Not uncommon for them to be damaged by carriers. We tend to cover extra shipping and overweight charges nearly every time, just to avoid any damage on the instrument. It's a hassle no one wants to deal with.
      And yes -- for as often as people talk about playing with headphones, I think it should be more common to talk about the noise. Acoustic pianos have action noise too, but sometimes in digitals, it can sound pretty. . . plastic and rattly. ES110 is respectable, in my opinion. Have you gotten a chance to try it yourself?
      Hope your work and piano-playing careers go super well, friend. Best wishes overseas! (:

    I chose a Roland 30x over this. I like it but it is an outdated piano, It has too many pianos and not enough organs, strings, etc. It's blue tooth like the outdated Yamaha P125 only works with Apple and not Android users. Other piano apps let you use a lot of sounds through bluetooth apps. The electric piano is terrible. It has no audio midi interface built in to carry audio and midi over usb. I like the action, light weight, but it is a one trick pony. It is an old outdated piano . For the same price the Roland 30x has a bluetooth that works with Apple and Android, Audio and midi over usb, a usb menory stick recorder, 256 polyphony, and a functional app that lets you import other sounds wirelessly to the piano. Its , only con is that it weighs 32 lbs. Not even the casio PSX 3000 can compete with the Roland. Too bad Kawai engineers were stuck at piano, They think the emphasis on piano will help people overlook modern features.

    • @familypianoco

      Well, personally, the Roland FP-30X is my favorite digital under $1000. So I do agree with you for the most part. I wouldn't say the ES110 is completely outdated though. Really it depends on what your priorities and preferences are. Plus, the FP-30X did just release this year so of course it's going to be newer technology. I do think that their Piano Partner 2 app blows other manufacturer apps out of the water. Super functional, and I find it's a huge benefit for going Roland. But I wouldn't count out Kawai and Casio. All three of them have had some hit digitals come out recently. For you and me, modern features are beneficial. But there are people that just want a simple digital that sounds and feels good. ES110 and PXS-3000 fit that bill (and then some) in my opinion. Thanks for the comment! You have a nuanced opinion on the matter.

      @@familypianoco Have you found any issues with the keys on Roland FP-30X after using for several months? I found on some reviews and comments that FP-30X "has a potential issue" with the keys by giving uncomfortable noise and feel after months of usage, and then you need to give some grease or call the maintenance guys. And one more question, which key action do you find better on ES 110 or FP-30X? Thanks for your input, I'm thinking to buy either ES 110, P-125, or FP-30X. Cheers.

      If you only want it to learn and play classical and popular tracks that use piano (as opposed to organ, etc.) would you then prefer / recommend it?
