Those west-facing slip-roads on the braintree by-pass *alone* are enough to easy congestion on Galley's Corner Roundabout. Even a single sliproad going onto millennium way from the east-bound a120 would have a significant impact.
This is the kind of detail and finesse the Lower Thames Crossing route proposal should have been given... I assume the team behind this particular A120 route proposal are far more adapt at producing this sort of detail? However, i still think this route proposal could do with a little more local input before you start to cut soil, there are gaping holes in this, in addition to a complex solution to an existing poor situation at Braintree. This route proposal adds additional miles to journey, rather than shortens them... That can't be good for the environment!
Doesn’t look very well planned to me, especially Galleys Corner replacement and A12 new interchange. Still someone’s trousering big money for a bodge job. I won’t deny that anything would be an improvement on the current Galleys Corner but this scenario is looking at 10-15 years and it’s bound to cost at least 2x the original budget and run well over on completion date. It’s over complicated, badly conceived and looks to have been done to maximise cost.
