I know it's months late, but just to explain "The Shadow Man" bit: In the original Halloween movie, Dr. Loomis was the first person to call Michael by his name. Everyone else who saw him in the background called him either The Shape or The Boogie man. So it draws on the idea of Spencer "not knowing the killers name" portion of the story.
