Having the sewing machine bed flush with the table top isn't just about height. (Otherwise you could just chop the legs down on a table.) It's about having the bed flush with the table so your fabric can lay flat across a large area as you are feeding it thru. Less distortion of the fabric makes for smoother seams, less puckers, etc... And your forearms can rest on the table as you feed the fabric thru.
😍😍So sorry I am just catching this .I am trying to catch up on the comments. Will do better in the future. Thanks for watching our lives. We appreciate it !!!!!!
I love my Koala cabinet but my biggest critique (this applies to all cabinets) is my best ergonomic sewing position is to sit directly behind the needle. Because of the way cabinets fold, that usually isn't possible. I have my machine scooted to the far right on the platform and that makes a gap between the insert and the machine bed. I'd like to see the cabinet manufacturers address this.
I got my cabinet and foldable cutting table 25 years ago from Goodwill. My cabinet had a machine that folded down into it. I removed that and modified it to fit my Kenmore. My cutting table was brand new with two rollers crooked. I got the lady down to 25$, took it home and fixed the wheels back in place with some wood glue. It folds out like the one you demonstrated. At the time it was retailing for $650. I would love to have that Kiki one for sure. I'm not a quilter. I'm a seamstress working mainly with garments and two embroidery machines. When I earn enough I will be investing 9 in a long arm and take up quilting. I grew up standing by my mother at the treadle sewing machine and started with that. Made all my kids clothes Made costumes for dancers. Watched my mom and Gran quilt the hard way. If I want to do it I'll figure it out. Your cabinets area fine investment for seamstresses and quilters.
😍😍So sorry I am just catching this .I am trying to catch up on the comments. Hope to do better in the future. Thanks for watching our lives. We appreciate it !!!!!!
I've had a sewing machine cabinet for years. It didn't fit but I made it work. Now I have a table that's been cut down to fit me with the sewing machine on it. My chair allows my feet to touch the floor. My cutting table was made for me, its on rollers. My drawers which I've had forever fit underneath nicely. Having things so ergonomic is wonderful. Decide what you want, measure twice, cut once
One more tip for those shopping for cabinets. Be sure you know the dimensions of your sewing machine and what it weighs. Some cabinets may have weight limits on the lift mechanism and some of the newer machines are quite large (width).
I made my sewing station and cutting table from Seville chrome shelving. I used 1 four foot unit with MDF cut to make sewing table. Then it has storage above and lighting connected to the bottom of the first shelf above the table. The second four foot unit is for fabric storage in plastic totes and covered boxes. My cutting table is made of a 5 ft unit has 6 inches cut off the poles so it is the perfect height on rollers for me, the halves are back to back with MDF top. I have peg board on the ends to store all my notions.
Great video Teancum! This gives me alot more to think about when I'm ready to redesign my master bedroom into my sewing room. I need to figure out longarm purchase & space as well.
I’m happy with my furniture I purchased from Sew Yeah at the furniture sale. It arrived timely and fits my room. I really enjoy sitting at the cabinet sewing. The problem is I have bought way too much fabric from your sales that the fabric is literally pushing me out! I’m on a no buy until I use up my stash! Great video and description Teancum! ❤️❤️❤️
Great video, appreciate this information, we have ours as bought used and it all came together, but this is excellent for people who are looking to upgrade or starting out, great job.
Such a interesting explanation! I just finished doing a bunch of paper work. I'm so grateful to watch this wonderful video that you made. I hope you have a fabulous week ahead! Thank you for posting and your talent.
My mom has a sewing cabinet which I really like. When I was younger and we had a small space we kept it in a corner and had it closed unless sewing, now we have a full sewing room and just keep it open all the time. I really like how modular most of the cabinets you have shown are. At some point I am going to have my bf make me one & will definitely include those great collapsible extensions. Cutting space I like to just use a 4' folding table that folds down to 2' for storage or transport. A quality one is about as sturdy as a cabinet and more versatile, although admittedly less aesthetically appealing.
Have never seen so many different cabinets in one space! Thanks for the video. I had to get rid of my old Singer sewing machine in a custom cabinet. Broke my heart when it bit the dust. I am now sewing on a 6 foot plastic table which shakes if I sew too fast. I have my sewing machine and my embroidery machine sharing the space. Not a good set up, but the room I’m sewing in is oddly shaped. My husband also bought me an inexpensive cutting table, which I love. It is in the middle of the room as I also use it for basting my quilt sandwich. It is about two years old, and getting rickety. The sewing machine shop I go to only carries really high end cabinets that fold up. I don’t want that. Like you, I want the machine ready for action. Thanks again for all the advice on how to choose a cabinet.
EXCELLENT VIDEO!!!!!!!!!! I learned so much.... and drooled A LOT over some of the cabinets and tables! The video explained why, when I sew at my kitchen table, my neck and shoulders ache after awhile. Whereas, when I sew upstairs in my sewing/craft room, I'm good all afternoon. Oh, how I would LOVE to have the money to spend on a formal sewing room with the proper furniture. Again, thank you for answering so many of my questions.
H Sew Yeah! Nice to meet you Teancum! I truly loved the demonstrations and explanations of the cabinets you offer. At present I have approx 75 sq ft of space in the back of the office. I use an antique solid oak executive desk for sewing and storing notions. I do have a cutting table with wings that fits 36" x 59" cutting mat. Maybe someday if I get more space I can get an expandable sewing cabinet. Many thanks for the informative video. Looking forward to seeing videos of the new store! ~~ Hugs, Lynne
Great video Teancum! I don’t have a dedicated sewing space and haven’t had one since I graduated high school. I have 3 machines and will travel. LoL keep the great videos coming. Love what I’ve seen of the new space.
Thanks for all the info Teancum. Wish that I had a spare bedroom to set up this type of sewing space. Right now I’m sewing at my dining room table but a sewing cabinet etc. would be the ideal arrangement.
My Christa cabinet arrived almost a month ago, but the insert just showed up last week. So far I love it and the extra room I now have to the left of needle center without being squished up against the drawer/front extension!! I don't use the back extension as the Christa backs up to my Koala Quiltmate III cabinet that has the extension already out. So plenty of room for my quilts, and two machines to keep me plenty busy!!
It's different for everyone, but it needs to be high enough not to bend your back but not too high that your arms and shoulders are not comfortable. Might take a few tries to get it just right for you!
MY reason for a sewing cabinet is to have a completely flat surface all around the sewing machine. Being able to lower the sewing surface. Adding an extension or sew steady insert fills in the gaps between the machine and the table top. But I hate facing a wall. I position my sewing table so that I face away from the wall. Two rooms that I have used, I angled the cabinet and positioned a floor lamp in the triangle that was over my machine.

I'm pleasantly surprised. I watched you guys a few times selling fabric online and ordered some. All the orders were messed up and I had to make numerous calls and texts and emails until the situation was fixed.I told the man on the phone you guys are way too scattered and treat it more as a comedy show instead of a business. I said I would never order from you guys again. So imagine my surprise when I see you doing a fantastic job of explaining and selling sewing machine tables. Stick with that, leave the fabric alone.
Oh yes I understand exactly what you were saying. I have had so many orders messed up I’ve had to wait a week to receive a reply. But everything eventually gets sorted out. And yes being part of the online fabric chat takes some getting used to. However the fabric that they sell is very nice and you can’t beat six dollars a yard for quality fabric. I just play it in the background until I hear something that I might be interested in
@@SewYeah Hi. I wrote that post 2 yrs ago. It was a while before I ordered again but I’m very happy with your shows now. You do move fast in them so it takes a little learning curve. But the presentations are much better. The fabric is beautiful. Thanks guys, keep it up.
My concern is to set up a space for sewing left handed. I looked at several dealers and they all arange the space for sewing in a right handed direction. Is there some how to arange a sewing space for left handed sewers?
Very seldom will they respond to these videos but I know exactly what you’re saying because I am also left-handed. I was able to find this cabinet that this lady was selling because she was getting a divorce. And it’s like French doors so it opens up and you can sit on either side of the table and then also has a shelving unit that’s attached. But I was so lucky to find this I think online it was anywhere between four and $500 and she sold it to me for $40
i remember seeing a few cabinets that could be special ordered to accommodate left handed sewists. don’t remember the name, but i have a E size drafting table which serves as a cutting and sewing. yes i have to set up the machine every time but the table was free.
Perfect timing with this video!! I just bought a Solaris 2 and in the process of looking for a cabinet. Any suggestions for what to get? My budget is $1000.
You can also look into commercial office furniture which also has adjustible tables. I have even seen them at Costco. I've used them at work and they're great.
Beautiful, but who can afford these? I bought an L-shaped "computer" table, simple and plain for under $100 that works perfectly for me, no fancy drawers, doors, and all the stuff I don't need, just simplicity. I couldn't ask for a better sewing table. And now, even if I had the money for one of these, I wouldn't change what I have.
We are so glad you found a great system that works for you! We love these Arrow cabinets for their great quality and diversity, but we completely agree everyone should use the system that best fits their needs. Thanks for sharing your great set-up! ❤🎈💕
I use an oak L shaped desk to sew on. It is really really heavy and my daughter got it for free. She got it for me so I would have something to put my Juki 2010 TL on. I have always wanted a sewing set up like what you are showing here, but there is no way I could. Maybe some day I will buy a set up for my daughter though as she is also a quilter and is using my old corner desk that I was using before the oak desk.

My Aunt had a singer with a cabinet. I wish I could have been able to get it. At the time when she passed away, it was in Mexico, and I was not able to go and pick it up.
I have a cabinet being handed down to me from my Mother in law. which was handed to her from her Mother in law. it has some weird pegs on the back to hold the sewing machine. Built for a Singer. I was wondering. since I dont have a sewing machine yet. I hope to find a newer budget sewing machine for the table with pegs. is this still on machines? or no?
I have two questions. First, do you have any tables that adjust higher-up? I'm 5'9" with a bad neck, and back. I need something that I don't have to bend over. A cutting table for a average size person, is painful to me. Second, do you have free shipping and handling? And where are you located?

Small cabinet looks good until you realise that to be ergonomic you need to sit in front of the needle, not the body of the machine, you need more space for your legs to the left. The larger your machine the less room you will have. If you have limited space and budget get a sit stand desk from Ikea. Raise it up for cutting out, put a cheap magnetic whiteboard on top to make a larger cutting area; covered with rotary cutting mats, so you can use magnets as pins. Lower the table for sewing (use a box under your foot pedal and an adjustable height chair to get the right ergonomic height) Use adjustable height kitchen cabinet legs under a piece of timber board with a cut out for your machine to give a level surface. Make another cut out board for a serger. This gives you the option of sewing standing up as well as sitting. When not in use the table can be raised to allow cabinets on wheels to be stored underneath it.
Hello! The Christa is an Arrow cabinet and we love it! If you are interested in purchasing that cabinet you can give us a call at 702-586-8687 and we are happy to help! Thanks for watching!
@@teresamcbrayer2549 Chances of getting to talk to him are slim and none but I’m sure somebody in the store will know the price or maybe they’re not really selling it
We love the quality of the Arrow cabinets and all their great features. They are a little more money, but we think they are definitely worth the investment and they have a lot of options for different price ranges.🙌 We hope you enjoyed the video! Thanks so much for watching!
I don’t understand why sewing cabinets are so expensive. If they were made of real wood that would be one thing but they’re all made with that cheap stuff they make Walmart furniture with.
I love the sewing machine lift, but opening the cabinets to use the machine? No, that larger foot print defeats the purpose of having a cabinet. Retractable cabinet doors and flaps that you can raise when you want to, but you don’t have to increase the footprint in order to use the machine. This is the only vid that discusses this enormous issue. Many sergers won’t fit in these sewing cabinets. Fpr people who live in earthquake prone areas you’ll want to bolt your machine to the table. A lot of machines have an attachment point on the bottom and the dealers never mention that.

It is not a good idea to measure from wall to wall, nothing will fit. You really need to measure from internal skirting board to internal skirting board. 😊
Too many manufactured cabinets, work tables, etc., are built for right-handed people. I really wish that manufacturers would consider those who MUST sew right-handed (because that's how machines are standardardized), but prefer to cut, trim, and iron left-handed.

We are so glad you found a great system that works for you! We love these Arrow cabinets for their great quality and diversity, but we completely agree everyone should use the system that best fits their needs. Thanks for sharing your great set-up! ❤🎈💕
Thanks you for all those informations.
I’m thinking about my sewing station. I’m sewing on a hairdresser.
Thanks so much!
Great help thank you for the info
Thanks for the kind words and thanks for watching!!
Thankyou fora very informative post👏
Thanks for the kind words and thanks for watching!!
Awesome! Whenever you are ready for a new one give us a call! 😀❤
@@SewYeah I would LOVE It :)
Yeah free sounds great! I love my Lifetime 6 ft. folding table from Costco! Folds up when done and it’s 50 bucks! 😂
I’m pretty sure it depends on how long your torso is, whether it’s ergonomically correct.
😍😍So sorry I am just catching this .I am trying to catch up on the comments. Hope to do better in the future. Thanks for watching our lives. We appreciate it !!!!!!
Great video!

What cabinet would fit my Bernina 765?
What cabinet would fit my Bernina 765?
Thanks so much!
My Aunt had a singer with a cabinet. I wish I could have been able to get it. At the time when she passed away, it was in Mexico, and I was not able to go and pick it up.
That would have been amazing! Thanks so much for watching!
I have a cabinet being handed down to me from my Mother in law. which was handed to her from her Mother in law. it has some weird pegs on the back to hold the sewing machine. Built for a Singer. I was wondering. since I dont have a sewing machine yet. I hope to find a newer budget sewing machine for the table with pegs. is this still on machines? or no?
Hello! Please email us at contact@sewyeahquilting.com and our machine specialists would be happy to help you. Thank you.
I have two questions. First, do you have any tables that adjust higher-up? I'm 5'9" with a bad neck, and back. I need something that I don't have to bend over. A cutting table for a average size person, is painful to me. Second, do you have free shipping and handling? And where are you located?
Hello! Thank you for watching! We would love to help you get a table works great for you! We are located in Las Vegas, Nevada, but we offer free shipping and handling on machine and table orders. You can reach us at contact@sewyeahquilting.com and we would be happy to help! We hope to talk to you soon! 😊

WHICH CABINET WOULD YOU SUGGEST FOR A BROTHER LUMINAIRE? WHERE WOULD YOU PUT THE HOOPS?😊😊😊😊
Lots of choices. We are behind with our replies to comments. We hope you found the answer.
What brand is that first small unit you didn’t say..
Hello! We carry the Arrow/Kangaroo cabinets. Please email us at contact@sewyeahquilting.com and we would be happy to provide more information. Thanks!
Will you ship? Not ready yet but doing research
Yes we do
Small cabinet looks good until you realise that to be ergonomic you need to sit in front of the needle, not the body of the machine, you need more space for your legs to the left.
Thanks for all the info. and thanks for watching!
Does anyone know what brand the Christa is?
Hello! The Christa is an Arrow cabinet and we love it! If you are interested in purchasing that cabinet you can give us a call at 702-586-8687 and we are happy to help! Thanks for watching!
Where is your store?
Las Vegas, Nevada!
Aloha from Hawaii.
🌈🌈‼️. Do you ship to Hawaii???
Yes 🙂
Why did he not provide information regarding the price of the very first one? The beginner cabinet and it is not on their website either
Call the store. , that way he can answer more questions and possibly throw in something extra
@@teresamcbrayer2549 Chances of getting to talk to him are slim and none but I’m sure somebody in the store will know the price or maybe they’re not really selling it
Thanks for watching
I like the furniture too but way too much $$$$ when its not real wood but partial board really.
We love the quality of the Arrow cabinets and all their great features. They are a little more money, but we think they are definitely worth the investment and they have a lot of options for different price ranges.🙌 We hope you enjoyed the video! Thanks so much for watching!
Thanks
Thanks so much!
I tried to find the less expensive cutting table on your website. Can you direct me?
Hope you found the table . We are behind in answering our comments. So sorry!
Do you have L-shaped cabinets?
Hopefully you have your answer by now. We have been behind answering comments but hoping to stay caught up now.
I don’t understand why sewing cabinets are so expensive. If they were made of real wood that would be one thing but they’re all made with that cheap stuff they make Walmart furniture with.
🤔🤔🤔🫶
I love the sewing machine lift, but opening the cabinets to use the machine? No, that larger foot print defeats the purpose of having a cabinet. Retractable cabinet doors and flaps that you can raise when you want to, but you don’t have to increase the footprint in order to use the machine. This is the only vid that discusses this enormous issue.
Many sergers won’t fit in these sewing cabinets.
Fpr people who live in earthquake prone areas you’ll want to bolt your machine to the table. A lot of machines have an attachment point on the bottom and the dealers never mention that.
Thanks for watching and for the great tips!

My machine has a permanent spot on the dining room table
👍👍😊😊😊
An adjustable table solves all problems, you can raise it up to use for a cutting table. Multiple tables drive me crazy.
Yes!!
It is not a good idea to measure from wall to wall, nothing will fit. You really need to measure from internal skirting board to internal skirting board. 😊
👍👍😁
Too many manufactured cabinets, work tables, etc., are built for right-handed people. I really wish that manufacturers would consider those who MUST sew right-handed (because that's how machines are standardardized), but prefer to cut, trim, and iron left-handed.
🤔🤔👍🫶
Wait…..slow down……. Let me get this straight…… cabinet open….. can sew…… cabinet closed…… no sew….. wait…… did I get that backwards. OMG!
🤔🤔😂😂😂
I want a she-shed…..but that will never happen….HA!
That would be amazing!! 😂😂 We'll keep wishing for you 🙏🎈💕 Thanks for watching!
