Pro tip: sauté some garlic and onions and then toast the oats in the fat before adding the liquid. It's an adaption of the risotto method and makes the oats so much better.
Have just made water-cooked rolled oats with pork bits, Cayenne pepper and rosemary, topped with caramelised onions and bell peppers - it was great! Am eager to try these other two recipes soon.
I eat polenta for breakfast made with butter & milk; sometimes with cinnamon & raisins as well. I think I will try these options with polenta. Thank you for the creativity.
Lovely recipes. The second one reminded me of how we serve porridge in Iraq, with gooey and crispy sautéed onions (preferably in ghee) over the top, whether we make a savoury or sweet oatmeal porridge (we use steel cut oats and top them with date syrup and cinnamon… and the onions!). :)
the soy sauce recipe reminded me of how my mom makes congee with oats instead of rice for my dad (diabetes lol), also reminded me of clay pot rice! I'll definitely try it!
I always toast my oat steel or other oats (except not microwave packets will not work) in the pot stirring until browning then add boiling water. Been doing this for many years.
Sounds different! Cabinets are running very low. I do have all the ingredients. I will try it and perhaps "tweak" the recipe with whatever else I can find! Who would have thought!
Hmm, you can definitely cook a big batch and then just reheat it for subsequent days. I wouldn't do this for the raw-style overnight oats though. For instance, the cheese in the cheese version wouldn't melt/
Correct! Eggs raise your HDL (good cholesterol, High Density Lipoprotein) which removes excess cholesterol from your body to be processed by your liver into bile for digestion and toxin removal. HDL cholesterol is proven to lower your risk of heart disease and stroke. 😊
Just tried it(without the cheese)...honestly i'm shocked. Savory oats always seemed disgusting to me. It could genuinely be a savory breakfast or even a meal

thank you!
Made the 2nd one a few minutes ago...it tasted so good..I could ditch my rice and have this at lunch too..so creamy and filling...
ooh! I love the idea of savory oatmeal. I've only ever had it sweet, and while good, I get tired of it. Definitely going to try these!
Yup, I get tired of sweet oatmeal too, so I love going savory sometimes!
I never even thought to make oats savory! I’ve never eaten because I don’t like sweet for breakfast. This is a game changer!!! Ty ty ty.
As a small polish girl I always put salt to oatmeal. I loved it! For me it is taste of kindergarten
I made the second recipe with oatmilk and it came out so yummy!

Ohhhh, I love the sound of adding onions to it!
I love the onions!
Pro tip: use the oil from the Chinese sausage to fry the egg with.

These look so delicious. I've got a friend who loves savoury oats (porridge in the UK) and I've been so intrigued to try it.
I tried the soy sauce oatmeal. It was sooo delicious ✨i didnt make the oatmeal with milk but i make it with water
I made this and it was heavenly.
I made the second one with turkey bacon. 😋
That cries out for some Lao Gan Ma chilli crisp on top.
If you don’t have access to the Chinese sausage, what could you use instead to mimic the flavour profile?
Thanks for this inspiring video. I want to try these recipes with a poached egg.

You had me at cheese and kept me at soy sauce 😋
Such a fan!
The vocal fry in serious
Has anyone tried to prep this night before eating? Want to try this for breakfast but I don’t have time to cook in the morning because of work
Can this also be use as overnight oats too?

Love it ❤
Its is good for dieting???
Depends what you mean by that.
I don't think they sell local californian milk in europe...
Love it ...thank you
I live in Costa Rica, I’m not going to be looking for the California seal . 😂
Make the oats using broth, not water.
Does half a cup of cheese not negate the purpose of oatmeal
The purpose of oatmeal is healthy fiber. You get that in any case.
Hi I was looking for health recipies. Oats lower your cholesterol but the eggs on top just raised it again.
don't add the egg then lmao??

Actually the cholesterol in eggs is the good one. Our body still need cholesterol and egg is a good choice.

I was triggered when cut the egg because I thought you were gonna toss it...lol
It’s has an odd taste i prefer sweet oatmeal
That's a bad case of vocal fry there. It's hard to listen to the video, sorry.
