As a Djokovic fan I'll tell this: honestly its impossible to say who is GOAT. all 3 of them made some records that are probably unbeatable ever and they met each other so many times and made each other better players. You can say that Rafa is the best clay player ever thats for sure and you can say that Roger is the most consistent and that Djokovic puts most effort and have the biggest mental strength but to be clear GOAT you need to be the best in all aspects, yet they beat each other in many aspects over and over again. Now we all are biased toward our favorite player and call him GOAT, but who really is will be known decades after in some new eras when biased fans dont exist anymore and right now only thing we can do is to enjoy magnificence of big 3 and be happy cause we are born in time to witness their greatness.

Seems Nadal is extremely respectful to Djokovic but I do feel he speaks more highly about Federer because he always calls Federer the greatest player in the history of tennis. He calls Djokovic one of the best of the history. Either way, I think the way Djokovic is playing right now, he is very close to catching and surpassing Federer's records.

He speaks highly of Federer because at the moment, Federer IS the greatest of all time & Novak & Rafa are just behind.

PinkBalloon For sure, Djokovic has the same amount of respect for Rafa that Rafa has for Novak, calling him one of the greatest, while calling Federer the greatest. They do trail Roger a bit but they are younger so they have time to catch up. I also like the fact that as rivals, the big three like to win and challenge each other to the limit, they also hate losing, but they are always extremely fair, articulate and respectful to one another on and off court. It's been an honor to be able to witness these great titans pushing each other to the limit just like before when we had Sampras and Agassi and before McEnroe, Lendl, Bjorg, Connors, etc, and before Tilden, Emerson, Laver, Gonzalez. The game of tennis has evolved tremendously and I sincerely hope that when those three tennis titans retire, hopefully not anytime soon, we will see other greats step up.

Maybe he calls Roger Federer the greatest of all time, but he also said in several occasion that Djokovic's level was the best he had ever seen, and he has seen a lot of Federer in his prime.

Nadal fan here.....He will probably change his tune if Djokovic passes both of them in Majors....To me it doesnt matter....all 3 of them are legends...and when playing at there highest level on certain conditions the only players capable of beating them are each other....Im honored to have watched this story unfold for all 3 of them since 2005....

@@theThumbs95 Yeah 2011 was unbelievable for Novak...Nadal was dominating everyone except Djok...lost to him in 6 straight finals.....Austalian 2012 was such a huge match in the momentum of there rivarly...kept Nadal from getting double slam....most physical match in tennis history....Nadal would have triple grandslam....24-25 majors and about 45 masters if Djok didn't exsist....Federer would have at least 3 more majors also

Djokovic fan here since 2010 when I started watching tennis...i rooted for him because i loved seeing the 3rd wheel trying to break in...which happened the next year....but I respect Rafa as much as anyone...he is so respectful...classy ...humble...and his will to win is incredible...in my mind there's no doubt that Novak and Rafa are the 2 best ever...I know there's more Federer fans than anyone including the writers and tv analysts so he will always get more love and respect than Djokovic and Nadal (especially Novak)...but if you break down every statistic...h2h...GS's...Masters 1000's...weeks at number 1(mind you since 2011 they've been 1-2 almost the entire time that they were healthy so even though Nadal is far behind in that category it's only because of Djokovic...id like to see how many weeks Nadal has been #2 in the world)...it becomes pretty clear where they rank...especially because Fed racked up his GS count before Nole and Rafa truly came on

Nadal is wise, he knows Novak is a monster. Novak though, was screaming like hell after winning the quater final in Roland garros 2021 just because he could finally challenge his all time rival Nadal in semi final. he was that excited, And the serb won in the end.
I think novak enjoys meeting Nadal more than nadal does. maybe because since 2011, djokovic has won much more than nadal

Rafa will win the French and than we will see. Last year's Wimbledon came down to a point or two. If Rafa gets it done there, very possible, the whole conversation changes. Novak is hot right now but let the dust settle and see where we are in a year from now...Vamos Rafa!

    • @pacifist1360

Well that's why we watch tennis we just never know. Yes Novak did beat Rafa at the French Open before in 2015, but Rafa was playing at his worst level. But remember, during the 2013 RG semis, when Rafa was at his very best, Novak was very close to beating him, also at his best. Also, during last year's Wimbledon semis, when Novak was at his best, Rafa at his best was very close to winning too. The same goes for the 2012 AO final. That concludes that when both are playing their best tennis, anything can happen on any surface. I believe that if Djokovic continues to dominate everybody the way he has been playing during the past couple of months, he will be the favorite to win the 2019 RG title in my book, eventhough Rafa is always the favorite to winning when it comes to playing on clay. I want to see Novak win RG this year. That will make him only the second man ever to have two career grand slams and two cycles of winning 4 grand slams in a row besides Rod Laver, and the only man to do it on every surface. If he wins Wimbledon, he will be the only man ever to win 5 in a row, and he will tie Rafa's grand slam count. With the US open title, he will surpass Rafa's grand slam count, and achieve the calendar year slam and the magic 6 - never done before. Remember, Federer is also playing, who will probably peak at Wimbledon where he will have a chance to win too. Go Novak.

Saujatya Mandal You are right, my hopes were too high for Novak. I guess everybody has to lose at some point, even the great Novak Djokovic. But hey, having won two grand slams in one calendar year and still being ranked the No. 1 player in the world ain't that bad, even with a shoulder injury😅. But I liked your comment - it was funny and true. This year was a good year of tennis - we got half and half - 2 for Novak and 2 for Rafa. Btw, Rafa definitely deserved his French Open and US Open titles - he played an outstanding match against Dominic Thiem and an epic match against Danil Medvedev. Would be very interesting to see who will finish this year as No. 1, my guess is Rafa.
