I've been in trucking now for about 20 years, and have worked at several different places. Unfortunately there are a lot of tough tough things we drivers have to deal with. Thank you for your honesty about the situation , and about this company! I wish you the best
Mclane in Manassas Virginia have those sensors, the truck beeped sometimes in a high traffic area also and they started giving me written warnings After working there a whole year. They put me in and different truck at the beginning of this year the new year which was constantly beeping. Next thing you know I’m out the door, looking for another job.
Hey man I work for Landair also and I went to trucking school and they pay 80% of my school and I am on the Sonoco account and they are very good at letting you know if something is changed as soon as it is changed. And the pay starting off for new drivers is during training you get 400 dollars a week during training then when get truck it’s like45 cents a mile then after 3 months it goes up to like 49 cents then 6 months you are up with the other drivers pay. And the safety isssue I have stopped on the side of the road to use the bathroom and the issues with your abs and stuff going on I have hit the shoulder a bunch of times due to bathroom and little issues I had and haven’t had a isssue with them at all the only call I have had from safety is a call from them during trucker appreciation week saying thank you for everything you do and the distance warning I set that thang off like 20 times a day lol and never hear a thang about it lol
Can you do a video for new driver straight out of school? I don’t have any experience. I’m nervous because I fear I won’t pass a driving test because I’ve been out of school a while
Thank you. They do have cameras on their trucks, and they only face out. The cameras don’t have audio either. Some of the team trucks do have inward facing cameras, but I think they're stopping that too.
Hey how’s it going man? So I’ve been watching a lot of these videos I’ve watched all yours as well and I do appreciate you showing your knowledge. I do have a question I was wondering is the pre-trip that technical I mean through inspection through training I mean obviously coming to school or not no one heard anything about a semi one could not be that proper and knowledge. But practice does make perfect. But during training do you have to learn to be that technical in order to pass your pre-inspection through training
I gotta say it's going pretty good. Thanks for asking. This is a really good question. The pre-trip is a crucial part of passing your test. You will do the pre-trip before your road test. If you fail the pre-trip you will not even be allowed to do the road test and you will have to retest. The biggest part to remember is the air brake test. If you forget to do ANY part of the air brake tests, you automatically fail. You are allowed to miss a few parts of the pre-trip though. Simple answer... yes be extremely thorough. Practice, practice, and then practice again. Any time you are not in the truck doing driving training, make sure you are practicing the inspection. I only forgot to check the spacing between the landing gear and tractor when I did mine.
@@shadowtrucker210 All right man I do appreciate it. And yes I am actually practicing and studying every day right now. And I do have another question? I’ve been reading a lot of comments and comments within your page and what’s the deal about this thousand dollar sign on bonus and $1500 after six months is that true?
@@shadowtrucker210 And I hope my test goes as well as yours. But I don’t think I should have any problem. For one I am mechanically inclined. So I hope that is a plus for me. I have no idea. I'm not with Landair anymore. I know that you'll have to take a road test since you have so little time driving. They kind of gauge the amount of training you'll need off of that. Once you're with your trainer, they made decide to cut you loose sooner, or hold you if they see you're having trouble. I'm not sure about how they choose trainers. I do know that if any of the females have complained about a male trainer, they will no longer put females with them.
@@shadowtrucker210 thank you! Ok I'll probably just ask for female trainers i had a bad experience in the past thus the reason for my 1 month ... but thank you again!
@Kay Dee That's your best bet. I heard about one of the female trainees that struggled to stay with her trainer. He was saying a lot of suggestive stuff that made her really uncomfortable. She stayed with him to get her time done, but she should've left immediately and got a new trainer.
@@shadowtrucker210 exactly I know how that can go i wish I would've done the same. You feel vulnerable if you're already far out with someone so it's best to just judge them early.
1st off covenant handles everything now from payroll to load planning to breakdown if your getting screwed it's not by landair it's by their owners. Secondly fresh outta school drivers are making 55cpm and a guarantee 600 weekly while training. After the first 90days they get full insurance and bumped up to the 70cpm. I'm a trainer with them recently had my first trainee upgrade. We recently got a new app thing called work hound. I call it the snitches app cause when your having a shitty day like you seem to have you can get on there and let the company know what your problems are. Now myself I work and train new hires on the truck load account. I'm in a 22 freight shaker. When I got this rig it had 4500miles on it. As new hires you don't get the newer trucks. It is what it is. I go home weekly as well just my preference my first 3yrs I stayed out 3 to 6wks at a time n it got old real fast. I do have all the numbers for all the stuff your complaining about. Your supposed to get all that information off your trainer. The miles are decent but you will end up sitting n waiting on loads from time to time. Now I just tell them what days I want home or when I'm taking off for vacation. I go on 4 cruises each year ranging from 5 to 14day cruises. I take up to 16 days off if need be. I don't like the fact that if your off work for more than 4days you gotta clean your rig out n turn it in at the shop but I'm not going to whine about it either.
Do you realize that you're commenting on a video that is over a year old? I left that company over 1 year ago, so not sure who you're trying to convince of anything.
No they do not. You get to pick your own routes. Just don't go crazy out of the way adding a bunch of miles or using unnecessary toll roads. Yes, they do have expansion for tolls and scales so you won't have any problems with that.
I'm a new trucker that got laid off from schneider because I got lost and someone faked a injury and lawsuit me. anyways how long is the training I would not want to go through that again 😂.
I have no idea. They will put you with a trainer and it's kinda up to them ro decide when you're good to go on you're own. I left Landair about a year ago though, so it may be different now.
If I had got there the night before, I would've cut half a day off my home time. Never would have happened for a company that can't even get you home on time.
