in the mid 80s, Sid was appearing at The Playhouse theatre at Hotel du Pont here in Wilmington, Del. A 24 y.o. waitress there at the time, i was on my break, on the mall downtown just a couple of blocks away and i sat on a bench to smoke a cig. The man next to me had his face largely hidden w/a newspaper. But i recognized him and said "omg ur sid ceasar! i LOVE u!!" he panicked, got up quick and walked away briskly. in retrospect, of course i wish i'd been less starstruck and more tactful. it would've been so nice to have had a friendly chat w/him.
Great story! You probably know this by now, but it wasn't you--Sid was always rather shy, especially around people he didn't know (something he admitted freely). Interestingly, Imogene was also shy. Two shy people = best comedy team ever. Go figure. --kjh
Look for some possible future uploads of some additional Caesar's Hour sketches, and, if I ever get my act together, at least one funny sketch from a special from the late 50s with Audrey Meadows! --kjh
Who pulled your act apart? How much stuff do you have that you haven't yet posted? Oh and thanks a bunch for posting these, I love them and they're bloody hard to find.
Ha! My act has never been together, actually. There are about 10 or so Caesar's Hour sketches or bits that will be posted, including some Commuters sketches and the classic take-off of On The Waterfront. Stay tuned! And "bloody hard to find" is an understatement: what is on this channel is the work of three different people (wgw, kjh, and a Sid fan from Switzerland) who have collected Sid stuff from old Comedy Central re-runs, old VHS tapes, old Beta (!) tapes, etc. --kjh
"She" went bra-less. Very ahead of her time. - God bless you Sid! I used to help my mother get into those girdles. I had to tuck a lot in. I can imagine what pleasure it was to undress at the end of the day. Like letting air out of a balloon.

You're welcome. Glad you're enjoying the sketches. ---kjh

Any more on the way? Perhaps the "Caesar's Writers" special or "Ten from Your Show of Shows" or something like that?

That's great. I've always wanted to see the "On the Waterfront" sketch which I've been hearing about for years.
"On the Waterfront"/"On the Docks" is now on the channel. Enjoy. My favorite line, among many: "Don't open the door for anyone!"

I really wish '50s TV would have allowed Sid to include getting into a bra. The girdle was funny enough. --kjh
