I’m so glad they have laughter & humor in their lives living in South Korea. They can live a better life there. I hope they remain happy for the remainder of their lives. ❤ Oh & they can do so much in SK. Freedom for them. ❤ They can even watch many different things on TV and listen to music on the Radio and have vehicles or motorcycles/ motorbikes.

I hope bringing this issue forward on shows like this will help change the mindset. So many families were divided during the war through no fault of their own. They have a shared history/ancestors etc until not that long ago.
They are neither North Koreans, nor South Koreans. They are simply all Koreans that speak same language , sadly they were divided due to war..😢

지금은 북한에서왔다고 하면 그냥 시골? 에서 온것같은 느낌의 생각만 들지 사실 그렇게 거부감은 없음. 북한 탈출해서 대한민국 오는게 오히려 대단하다고 느끼지. 그리고 지금 대한민국에와서 범죄저지르는 나쁜 외국인들이워낙많으닌까 차라리 북한사람이 탈북해서 남한와서 산다고 하면 환영하는분위기임. 지금은 한국사람 대부분이 그렇게생각할듯.

탈북민은 한민족인데 분단된지 얼마나 됐다고 너희 나라가 뭐야. 그냥 교류가 단절되었던 우리민족일뿐인데. 같은 언어 문화 음식을 공유하는 것 보면 교포 2세 3세 처럼 이질감도 들지 않고 그냥 사투리쓰는 지방에서 올라온 사람처럼 생각이 드는데요. 이상하고 무례한사람들은 어디나 있으니 무시하세요. 열심히 사시는 모습이 너무 존경스럽습니다. 고생한만큼 꼭 성공하시고 행복하세요.

How do people from the South not understand that these are oppressed people under a tyrannical regime? To assume that they're all bad and the enemy is so wrong.
I think Koreans can be criticized for the North Korean refugee issue. However if I have to make an excuse the total number of North Korean defectors in South Korea is 34000 which is very small so people don't usually have the opportunity to meet or talk to them. They live in the same country but Koreans only know of their existence through news and broadcasts. The foreign population in South Korea is 2.36 million and although there are foreign groups of various nationalities, most of them outnumber North Korean defectors. The largest number of foreigners are 900,000 Chinese but you can understand how few North Korean defectors there are. However recently since a year or two ago more and more North Koreans defectors have been doing RUclips channels for South Koreans and it helps us to understand North Koreans defectors and empathize with their difficulties. And for reference this video is almost three years old. I think these days there will be much less discrimination against North Korean defectors than then.
South koreans are very close minded, don't travel or leave their country unless its to vacation in another asian country, theyre a homogenous society and often times openly discriminate against anyone especially foreigners. It's odd they discriminate against North koreans, considering they are korean. South koreans see North koreans as a foreigner. Alot of people have this ideal view of South korea from dramas and kpop and dream of living there but more and more foreigners are traveling there and realizing it's terrible and they discriminate towards foreigners and more and more videos are popping up showcasing that S korea isn't as welcoming as they thought. The craze of S Korea is dying, slowly but surely. You have to submit a picture of you on your resume and can be turned down simply for looks.
Should be easy to understand, It's like how your people stereotype all musIins and Cinise as bad. So stop with this "I'm holier than thou" crap.
The North Korean regime is still threatening the South. South Koreans also know how to distinguish North Koreans from the North Korean regime. Defining the North Korean Kim Jong-un regime as an enemy is another matter. Don't be mistaken.

In northeastern China/Manchuria, we also dig holes to store our own "酸菜" (신배추 I'm not sure if I translated it to Korean in the right way). The seasoning is quiet different from Kimchi but maybe the making processes are similar. We don't use 양배추 to make this. We only use 배추 to make this.
Putting the soybean paste on the eggplants and steaming them is also what we cook especially in the rural regions. Maybe that's exactly the same.
The dried corn noodles were really common to see when I was a little boy. We won't season it in a spicy way though. However, now I could not see it as much as before.
I'm not ethnically Korean, so these things might be something we as neighbors in common.
What are dried corn noodles? Are they just noodles?

그래도 옛날에 탈북 잘하셨어요 요즘은 탈북루트가 완전 막혔대요 cctv며 온갖 감시장비가 있는데다 중국에는 사람감시하는 시스템이 너무 발전해서 탈북해도 금방 걸려서 잡혀가는듯하더라구요 ㅠㅠ

It is better to work for yourself than be an office worker. Koreans need to break out of that mentality that office work is better. So many people in Korea and the world want to run away from office jobs. When he finally gets an office job he will realize he was better off before. Working for yourself gives you a certain freedom. I have office job and I hate it. I often envy people that have multiple or part time jobs . Nothing in life is easy. The most important thing is to try to be as happy as possible everyday. A job will not necessarily provide happiness. Also there is nothing such as job security nowadays. Better to be like him and develop different skill sets by doing different jobs.
