I deeply appreciate your voice ❤ I have been quiet on my channel about this topic but you give me the courage to speak. We are a LGBTQ🏳️⚧️🏳️🌈AuDHD family who is struggling and the path of our life has drastically changed over the past week. Last year we had to leave FL, now we are going to leave the USA 😢 I am terrified for those who want to leave but can’t. Guilt, heartbreak, fear, and even a little excitement for the possibility of finding somewhere we can finally be safe and stop running. It’s been a DIFFICULT week for so many. Your voice is so important. THANK YOU ❤
Yes! Yes! Yes! And YES!!! Thank you for your bravery in posting this commentary on a platform and in an environment that can be so harsh. The fight for intellectualism, humanity, and love will continue on throughout time against power, lies, and corruption. Our new tool in this battle against hate is educating our children in scientific and historical truth, as well as critical thinking just as you so eloquently explain.
The pain in your voice is evident and you expressed so much that I've been feeling this week. I was not able to do school on Wednesday but slowly we've gotten more done and we're back at it, though I'm not myself yet. We don't want to talk about the deportations around my son, 6, as my husband's family are immigrants (permanent residents) and he's the only one who has been naturalized... Normally I would, but we don't want him to be afraid for his family. This sucks. It all sucks. I'm so worried. It's not about politics, it just isn't. We can disagree on how we spend tax revenue but not about how we treat others.
Thank you for your voice and perspective here on RUclips! I completely agree with your focus on critical thinking, “real” science and history. Please continue to share!
I thank you for posting this. It’s hard to be vocal and I commend you. Thanks for always being a homeschool momma who is strong and helps so many of us following you.
This week has been filled with so much sadness, fear, anger, hurt, disbelief, etc. You have done a great job articulating where we go from here. It is so important to let your kids feel their emotions and then allow them to take actionable steps that give them hope and the knowledge that their words and actions still matter.
Thank you. It hurts and is sad and yes I cried a lot. I cried for the future. There was so much at stake and to see the map hurt a lot. Thank you for making me feel less alone.
I live in very red Indiana. We dont participate in co ops here because our values are not inline with the families who homeschool. We do encounter these families at the library and in my sons soccer organization. Its scary the resources i hear being used as sources education in the local homeschool communities. Im so sad and heartbroken for our country right now. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. Its very hard not to give up hope right now.
I too am very concerned with some of the resources being used. Of the little amount of homeschooling community near me, the vast majority is right leaning so it’s hard. I truly share in your heartbreak. I have been rereading the book On Tyranny lately and found it helpful. Ultimately power is in the hands of the people and although that can be disconcerting it can also be powerful for those willing to stand up for the rights of others.
Thank you for speaking out in this very honest video, I’m right there with you. And today was not the day to listen to channels that just buried it like it doesn’t exist. It was hard to see that half the country wants this. It’s hard to see family agree with it and promote it. But I’ll continue to teach my children that we go on and we continue to fight for ourselves and even for the people that made the choices that will hurt them. Even the moms that voted to expand the racism and to have their daughters lose their rights, we hope to see you on the other side
My fiancé and I live in Michigan. We both voted for Harris, his entire family voted for Trump. As a Michigander for most of my life, I can say I am whole heartedly disappointed in the voting outcome in this state and obviously all other red states as well, but Michigan really shocked me this time around. Thank you for making this video ♥
Michigan swingers proved zero tolerance for pro genocide foreign policies. For a party to win an election on the back of a genocide is corrupt and sickly depict the deteriorating state of American.democracy and the awful choices voters are forced to select on each side.

Michelle, thank you for using your voice on this topic! I see some of these comments are a little triggered by being called ignorant or uneducated - but I have no sympathy for them! We will all be impacted by these policies, and many families are going to be hurt or torn apart if even half of these policies he's promised come to fruition. The morning after I noticed a few people in my feed were celebrating Trump's victory; these posts were buried in others from my queer friends worrying about what will happen to their marriages and the kids caught in the middle, what will happen to my trans friends who may lose access to their medications, my friends who are people of color when Trump offers full immunity to police officers in a country where black and brown people are targeted by police at a rate 10 times higher, friends who are not privileged enough to homeschool and rely on IEPs or 504s, people who have put family planning on hold because god-forbid they have complicated pregnancies, small businesses in my community who are already preparing for Trumps 'well thought out' economic plan in hopes to stay afloat the next four years. These are people's lives and livelihoods! It's like the right can't understand people of color, women, queer people, children are ALL going to be impacted by these policies - some in ways that tear apart families and put others actual lives at risk. I'm sick of hearing the economic reasons people voted for Trump because he inherited the last economy he took credit for and I'm not convinced he even understands what a tarriff is, he discredited medical professionals during COVID at the cost of human lives, he sparked confidence in racist who found an ally in him (groups like the KKK), he called Black Lives Matter protestors 'dogs' and made it clear those protesting were 'the enemy within,' his mass deportation plan that will create a witch hunt and othering, not to mention his felony charges which unfortunately won't ever see the light of day and his assault charges. I'm a queer woman with a biracial daughter, who has suffered multiple miscarriages in which I needed medical intervention to save my life. People like me are your neighbors, friends, family - and these votes for Trump made me feel very unsafe for myself and my child in some of my circles. We can no longer 'agree to disagree' or claim 'I don't agree with everything he does' when we allowed this type of man to lead our country. You're either ignorant or you don't care about your fellow human being because you're too privileged to see how this is going to hurt these marginalized groups.
If it helps.... When you think of that geographical map... I'm in Arkansas. I moved out here from CA a decade ago. And I am surrounded by friends who are feeling this loss and devastation. Yes, our state voted overwhelmingly Republican. But we ARE here. In surprisingly larger numbers than you would imagine, at least in my area. I was pretty shocked when I saw the percentages in my state though. We all knew it was going red but I really didn't think it would go THAT red. I guess you just gravitate to people with your same moral compass. But I appreciate your video and loved the explanation for WHY we are crying. It literally has nothing to do with our candidate losing and everything to do with our empathy. They can't understand that or they would've voted differently.
I encourage anyone who feels attacked by Michelle's message, or who thinks she is being hypocritical, to consider "The Paradox of Tolerance." Some of us care so deeply about basic human rights, dignities, and respect that we have a moral obligation to be intolerant of people who are intolerant of basic human rights for ALL (when your bigotry affects MY rights- I have permission to be intolerant). If you want to feel triggered about being called "ignorant," then you are missing the point entirely - this is not about YOU. It's about the fundamental difference in our ethics and morals, of which require some of us to forcibly object to (aka be intolerant of) the type of harmful intolerance that can potentially lead this country and the rights of certain citizens into authoritarianism and oppression. On the topic of hope (and as a woman of color), I will say that the cards have ALWAYS been stacked against us, and we have ALWAYS fought to make this country better and to bring actualization to the vision that "all men are created equal". We have never and will never stop fighting for that vision. Thank you Michelle for being an outspoken voice for human decency. Please don't leave RUclips!!!
Thank you for posting this, your ability to face what's challenging is so helpful. I think the idea that people are being "fooled" into voting for a far-right candidate gives too much benefit of the doubt. The sad reality is that the move away from fact and science-based analysis allows them to justify their goal: to support a christo- fascist white nationalist autocracy. People are actively and critically thinking, and still choosing fascism, not because they were duped, but because they like what it has to offer. They are thinking critically, but they don't have empathy or care for people different from them. Disproving experts, ignoring credible, peer-reviewed research-- all of that allows for plausible deniability for the despicable truth: people think that fascism will deliver more to them than democracy. To all the trump supporters in your comments: you're twisting her words when you say she's calling you ignorant, and you know it. Take your manufactured outrage elsewhere.
In the discussion regarding homeschool, what is your opinion on Build Your Library? Specifically level 5&6, the American History levels? I know you spend a lot of time looking into curriculums and I’m trying to decide on an American history for my kids. I’m indecisive between build your library and a few others.
You’re right, many are probably simply coming from a place of hate and/or lack of empathy for all the people that will be effected by the plans laid out by this upcoming administration. Seeing as this is one of two homeschoolers I’ve seen so far sending out caring and thoughtful messaging to people that are scared and worried, you have plenty of options to move right on past it!
I think it’s kind of wild to say you see a map of racism… yet to also say you’re unbiased. This is the most biased rant I’ve ever heard. People probably don’t engage in this kind of discourse on homeschool RUclips because this kind of discourse on the internet usually quickly turns into your own echo chamber. It is usually more useful in person. I disagree with a LOT of things you say pretty often but I don’t unsubscribe or make massive judgements about your entire character. I’m a black woman who grew up in poverty and in a dangerous neighborhood. My black husband immigrated from the Caribbean as a child and grew up very poor in the southern US… We both got college executions in STEM fields. He has a masters degree in STEM, and he makes a lot of money. This adulthood is the first time in our lives that we are not in poverty. My husband has done lots of community outreach since college…yet we are both decidedly not democrats after seeing the harm that the welfare state has done to the impoverished American communities we grew up in and worked with. If you don’t think a lot of the blue map is not racist and sexist and homophobic, you’re kidding yourself majorly. While white liberals who try to be “anti” those things are in the blue group, the blue group is comprised of much more than people “like you”. The same thing applies to say the stereotypical racist archetypes belongs mostly in the red, but the red is made up of much more people “than that”. Imagine being a woman, especially a white woman walking through the neighborhood i grew up in after dark. Instant consequences. No one in the hood gives a flying flip about your gender preferences. Very few will actually respect you as a woman or even a human being. Of course there are good individuals there but if you just “walk around”, the opposites will find you. Many of my friends are on either side of the vote. I have met racist entitled democrats and republican racist redneck uncles of my republican friends. I have known republicans and democrats who both stand up for racism and basic human rights in both political arenas and every day ways. It is wild to push that things red or blue = bad or good. I’d love to talk more about this and engage in actual discourse but I don’t think RUclips will like this long comment. I’m not trying to change your mind and definitely not change your vote but goodness, I do not think the people should be rallying against each other so much based on these rash judgments when you don’t even know their lives or experiences.
As another Black woman, I disagree with almost all of your viewpoints. I do agree that it's harder to have these conversations online as opposed to real life. I feel the need to mention that I'm a Black woman because I have a feeling the people upvoting you are probably White Republicans that are like "see, this Black woman agrees with us so our views can't be racist/harmful/etc." I want to say to them and you that the things you said are bigoted, racist and classist (not to mention demonstrably false). Right-wing talking points don't become legitimate just because they find a token Black person like yourself to spout them.
Thank you so much for this. I've been watching your channel for a few months now, and I'm so glad that I'm finally finding the homeschooling channels that resonate with me and what I hope to accomplish with my 11-year old daughter. I greatly appreciate what you're doing.
Unfortunately, the people around me who voted for Trump care more about the supposed tax breaks and marginalization of the LBGTQIA+ community than the basic human rights you were speaking of. Narrow-minded and self-centered would be the descriptors I would use for their justifications in supporting such a hateful dictator.
Thank you for speaking about this. There is something fishy about those results. Something just doesn't sit right. The win was almost too perfect. He said himself he would do things to manipulate the results. If he won fairly that's fine, but there aren't that many hateful people in this country. However, I feel like you get what you asked for. As a Black, highly educated woman, I'm going to sit back and watch. We are tired. The people who voted for him are going to get exactly what they asked for and it won't be good. And they don't to critically think. They want to hate. They want to remain brainwashed that white is right and supreme. The tables will turn. I'm certain of it. Be of good courage Michelle. We will all get through this. I have a Black son. I'm afraid DAILY but I do believe in God and I have to know this happened for a reason. That's the only way I am able to leave my house. I have to keep going and living.
While I appreciate your vulnerability and perspective I have to say this is a very divisive video. The way you are talking about all Trump supporters or as you put it half of America as being hateful, ignorant, uneducated etc. has made you sound exactly like what you are describing them as. Life is all about perspective. Deep down everyone wants the same things but we all see different ways to get there. It doesn't make them less than, uneducated, unable to critically think, or full of hate simply because they see things in a different way. I know alot of Trump supporters that are nothing like what you describe them to be. In fact every Trump supporter I know is nothing like that. In my opinion this is just adding to the hate and division in this country. I am not a Trump supporter and never have been but what we should be doing is seeing how we can all come together to heal this country because in the end we are all on the same side. And talking about each other in this manner is going to get us nowhere. It seems to me that each side of the political spectrum has put the other side in a box and assigned them all a very inaccurate persona. We need love and unity. The only way to get that is to see, speak, and think only love and unity. Rather than add to the division and hate. Even if your preferred candidate was not chosen you still get to decide how you will contribute to the healing and division in this country by how you think, speak, and view it all. Much love to you.
I understand you. When you keep certain people out of your life, sometimes you forget they are out there, and they are millions and millions. Just because we can keep them out of our lives, they won't magically disappear. I would like to press the forward button and be in 2028 and see how it went.
You are saying that half of your fellow Americans are ignorant and that they support hate. Goodness me. Please re-watch and see the irony. By the words you have chosen to use, you are being those same things that you are saying half of the population is. I do though appreciate your voice to reflect on the outcome of the election.
If you voted for Trump you are ignorant and racist. He hates women. He hates minorities. He hates gays and trans people. He hates immigrants. He has said these things out loud many many many times. If you voted for him you hate those groups. at least own up to it. you voted for him because agree with his views.
I have watched your channel knowing we view things differently and that has never bothered me. I like to hear other peoples perspectives. I am disappointed to listen to this and hear you say over and over again that because my views are different than yours I am uneducated and don’t think critically. I do my research, I put in the hard work and I want to teach my children from my world view perspective in the same way you want to teach from yours. This does not make the education my children receive less than.
I am curious what worldview are you teaching from that promotes stripping people of their rights and making the hateful things that comes out of Trumps mouth ok? You believe people should have freedom of choice when it applies to education, but not when it comes to their own bodies? 🤷♀️
I love your channel and I voted for Trump. I don't stand for hate and I don't believe he does either. At the same time, I understand your pain and frustration. I felt the same way when Obama and Biden won. It feels so heavy and oppressive when the leader of your entire country feels so differently than you about extremely important issues. Anyway, all this to say I see you and I'm sorry. I know it's been a really hard week.
You must be a cis- and white to not have felt the extreme hatred for all minority groups when Trump was in power. I don’t mean this in a judgemental way, either. The level of hate crimes exponentially rose when he was in term. I felt scared for my life just walking out the door on many days. Please look outside yourself and the wider impact of his narrative.
Respectfully I disagree with you but I don’t appreciate being called ignorant. I still know you are a good person but a lot of what you are saying is not fair to say.
I appreciate you giving me the benefit of the doubt. As you dislike being called ignorant I dislike my daughters being told they don’t have rights to their own bodies.
@@michellegf I understand what you mean. I am one of those people that said I’d never vote for Trump, however, I did a lot of research myself and a lot of reading on my end. I think a huge issue right now is not being able to have conversations with the other side. As a country we need to unite as a nation instead of pointing fingers at each other. I do not necessarily agree with all things Trump does or says, but I do not think he is what the media makes him out to be. It’s a huge part of the problem we have going on right now. Again I respect you and will continue to follow your channel because I do use a lot of the same curriculum you use and I always like hearing other people’s perspectives even if that doesn’t align with my own. As a nation we need to stop putting each other in boxes. It’s not a fair way to go about it.
Imagine being so arrogant, the only way you can imagine someone has a different view than you is because they’re stupid and they don’t know any better.
It’s true try to get news from other places. It’s a problem if your only news is Fox News. I wouldn’t really have a problem if it was a run of the mill Republican this election but everyone who reads the news knows Trump has been in bed with Russia since 2016 and he is a fascist-a white supremacist who wants to turn back time and give us policies from the 1800s.
I'm in CA, I voted for Trump because of RFK Jr. and the MAHA movement and our country's chronic disease and obesity rate that is not being addressed. I assure you that most Trump voters are not racist or negative. There are only 2 political options, and people have many reasons for choosing one side. I'm also Latina and have a gay brother. We can't be so black and white.
You voted for a rapist and convicted felon. You share his views. How disappointing since Trump will overturn gay marriage next. You voted against your own interests.

Homeschooling Democratic mom here in the red state of Florida. So yes, there was a sea of red but there is more blue in red states than is visible.

Love this and you! ❤
Thanks ❤️
I agree with you 100%
I am curious what worldview are you teaching from that promotes stripping people of their rights and making the hateful things that comes out of Trumps mouth ok? You believe people should have freedom of choice when it applies to education, but not when it comes to their own bodies? 🤷♀️
Fox News and Joe Rogan are not credible news sources they are there to lie to you about the state of the country so you’ll hate minorities.
You are the mirror image of all that you dislike in the world.
Who lost basic human rights under Obama or Biden?
You must be a cis- and white to not have felt the extreme hatred for all minority groups when Trump was in power. I don’t mean this in a judgemental way, either. The level of hate crimes exponentially rose when he was in term. I felt scared for my life just walking out the door on many days. Please look outside yourself and the wider impact of his narrative.
Obama wasn’t planning on mass deportations. He didn’t take away rights to my body.
Facts don’t care about your feelings Brooke
@ agreed
@@brookeally1346what changed your mind about trump? I’m genuinely curious. Where were you reading?
Imagine being so arrogant, the only way you can imagine someone has a different view than you is because they’re stupid and they don’t know any better.
It’s true try to get news from other places. It’s a problem if your only news is Fox News. I wouldn’t really have a problem if it was a run of the mill Republican this election but everyone who reads the news knows Trump has been in bed with Russia since 2016 and he is a fascist-a white supremacist who wants to turn back time and give us policies from the 1800s.
I think she’s rly giving too many of y’all the benefit of the doubt. Willingly hateful people exist too.
