The problem with this is that it just adds so many additional steps to the same process. But as a single developer, the time spent doing all this means you have wasted 90% of your day. This is only effective with teams who require constant changes to be made, but even then, you are overcomplicating the process that has been designed by Roblox for an intuitive experience.
I think youre right with the wasting your day tinkering part, but you dont really have to touch it after the first time if you are already used to external tools, and you work so much faster if you do. even if you spend 10-30% of the time messing around with configs, you end up working 50% better. + if you enjoy this process you enjoy coding in general more
@zvqkx If you're used to external coding languages, saying it's the ultimate method to make games is incorrect. Personally, from experience, I've developed on Roblox for over 10+ years, and the more I try to look at external tools, the more I get lost. To rely on ChatGPT if an issue occurs from the third-party tool, I'd like to know where I stand, which is why RBX Studio, in my opinion, is the most intuitive, practical resource for a single developers needs.
It depends. VSCode is actually very useful to me for a few reasons: 1. if I don't have internet connection, I can still write and read my code 2. A lot of additional auto-formatting that roblox simply does not have helps me to check code a LOT (ie: if i save and it DOESN'T auto format, then i know theres a problem) 3. if, for some reason, studio has issues saving your code/session (which personally happened to me and is the reason why i looked into alternate methods of backing up), VSCode files are saved frequently and are always easily locally available. You also have the added benefit of backing up to Git. Those are my main reason. After using this setup for a little less than a year, the most useful one is the auto-formatter.
I'm having a problem, when i remove the "Shared" in the json, rojo just create a script named "ReplicatedStorage" and then creates "Hello" inside of that script. In short, i think that's a bug, rojo is creating at the workspace instead of the ReplicatedStorage.
not quite, many professional devs use rojo or similar tools. if you don't have a use for it, you haven't gotten to using it yet or you haven't coded much, which is more likely in your case it isn't for everyone still but this concluding is kind of bogus. blame the user not the tool
@@zvqkx ive been programming for the past 7 years, i have never used rojo and i am not plannig to use it, i agree with the original commenter, why would you just add extra steps to your developemtn and make it harder, roblox has better gui, more tools, and team edit.

roblox's code editor is lacking in a lot of features. If you find tools like rojo useless then you don't have a use for rojo, not the other way around (I can't sit here and explain the uses for an hour so this is the best answer I can give unfortunately)

third hi
Howdy 🤠
I love how you can explain things for complete beginners, like how you described plugins as mods
i think im first
I am hesitant to use Rojo bc I don't feel like switching between windows...
you can created a pet simulator game?

VS Codium is nice too, that is if you care about the software being fully FOSS (free as in free beer)
please fix ur arm wrestling system the module loader doesnt work
But why do you need that, I still cant find a reason why you should use rojo over studio?
version control, easier to work on it with a team and you can use other tools that aren't normally able to be used on studio
W Video, and im the only one who think the mic is diffrent?
Hm, I’m not sure 🤔

Git and github
Selene
Stylua
lune
wally
go to definition
multiline editing
edit all instances
documentation
better comments
better analytics
better shortcuts and configurability
unit testing
typescript
Just being able to choose your editor is a huge plus
there were like 10 more things but im not typin allat again
to sum it up you dont need all of this yet if you think rojo is not of use to you, so no problem. everyone works in their own way
