Well said; I am more concerned about Peterson being catholic (look at the video about his wife praying the rosary when she was sick of cancer) than him being not a Christian (to be honest). When I read 12 Rules For Life there were moments when I got tears in my eyes. For example when he writes about hell -- he seems to be more aware of hell then many (confessing) Christians are.
I appreciate your take. I think you are giving Jordan Peterson way too much credit. From what, admittedly little, I have seen of him he seems to just be using pseudo-psychology and nebulous theology to gain fame and fortune. It's not someone I personally recommend anyone watch.
Thanks for sharing your opinion. I really do think epistemology is a major concern that the church needs to be examining today. I've enjoyed the work of Esther Lightcap Meek on this front (recommended by a viewer).
He did say recently in an interview with cosmic skeptic that he believed Jesus physically resurrected from the dead, it took a while to get it out of him though
@@pastortannerministries7011 I like your videos pastor, I just finished watching a few! I myself am a youth and young adults minister, I appreciate how well read you are, any recommendations?
Oh, man. This is so dependent on where someone is at in their journey and what their growth areas are. Granting my knowledge about your situation is limited, I would recommend Mohler’s leadership book, Eugene Peterson’s Contemplative pastor, and You Are What You Love by James KA Smith
You're not clarifying anything, just shouting philosophy 101 jargon at me. Why does he do this? What is his epistemology? How did he reach this conclusion? What game IS he playing?
I still think it helps A LITTLE BIT. At very least you are aware that there is a more foundational MISS going on. Deconstructing western epistemology and reconstructing an epistemology of lived behavior is more than I can do in a YT comment or even a single video. Start with Esther Lightcap Meek if you are interested. The whole 5 lecture series should be pretty handy: ruclips.net/video/DMrouSGo6Rk/видео.htmlsi=mDSZmdBJIXJ9tqbK
A leap of faith is required. The gap is different for everyone. Jordan's leap of faith will be to have the conviction to say "Yes" when asked if he believes in God / Jesus. Because when he is able to say "yes" we know that his examination was thoroughly done & his belief is not superficial. He is not yet a Christian. But I pray every day that he hears the voice of God and takes his leap of faith.
This is why i say that epistemology is the issue. I suspect he WOULD say that he has taken that leap through his actions. Or perhaps that even if he hasn’t taken that leap, that what the leap constitutes is fundamentally different than what we often think it looks like as evangelicals. Regardless, I think there are many praying for him and wishing him the best and that is admirable and desirable. 👍
Yes, I do think that fundamental difference makes sense. Protestants in particular are prone more than any other Christian group to fall into the western epistemology mindset I outline here.
Jesus said you shall know a tree by its fruit, but outside of very clear cases I usually leave these sorts of things in God’s hands. Belief, faith, and conversion all strike me as very complicated Holy Spirit stuff. :P
For me thats the fundamental issue, its the core, what does he believe about the gospel and about Christ. I am just a regular church goes and christian and he is on a intellect lvl i can never reach but i know who i believe in and without Christ's righteousness im doomed. Without his active obedience his death burial and ressurection im going to hell. Glory to Christ. I pray for Jordan i hope he is saved, only God knows. But i want him to preach a more clear gospel, not just rules for life. To be Crushed by the law and see your need for Christ is glorious. When i listen to Jordan i really enjoy it but all i hear is works and live this way etc. When i listen to conservetives in the USA alot of times its Christless conservetism, and without the gospel all our deeds are fitlthy rags before God. Where is the gospel preached? When all i hear is do do do the law law law without gospel there is no hope. We need the gospel we can not messure up to the standard Jesus set on the sermon on the mount.Soli Deo Gloria! Pastor tanner do you have any teaching on understanding eastern orthodoxy or books in logos to read to understand it better? Thx for your awesome work on Logos vids etc!
Whereas being in the ‘correct’ denomination is the concern of many Christians. Like I said, I think he is ‘playing a completely different game’ than most westerners.

Yes, there are certainly different perspectives from someone who isn't as familiar with church history controversies and the like.

I hadn’t seen that one. Interesting. Thanks for sharing 👍

This is why his sympathies fall towards the Eastern Orthodox Church - it's a way of life; a way of living. He gets Orthodoxy.

Maybe it's his journey. Hopefully he will be truly saved.
Yes, many of us have different paths and journeys. That is something that makes relating to others so difficult.
"who do you say that I am?" I don't think he's born again

Dr. Peterson is not concerned whether or not he is in the "correct" denomination, he is concerned whether or not he is doing good by God.
