Hello! I have a question, do you have any published scientific papers on this topic related to smartwatches and heart rate measurement? My PhD topic is heartrate detection algorithms, so I'd love to see your research! Are the algorithms you mentioned available (or open source) or known only to the manufacturer?
I love you’re videos even though I’m not interested in buying any new watch these days. The delivery, consistency and quality of your work is captivating. That being said I can’t wait for you to test the new Casio H5600 watch. If I would buy a fitness tracking watch these days it would be that one. It’s just way more stylish than these wrist computers. Please test it!
Great scientific video. One question: Are you planning to do like an update of this video testing all galaxy watches when the update regarding health is released? Also the results are interesting in terms of using the watches was it only for a single week or like multiple months?
@engineeertf2 They said it in their developer conference in the same one they launched a Health SDK. On youtube links sometimes get deleted but I will reply with one article they mentioned working with universities as well medical institutions EDIT: Welp both got deleted on my end EDIT2: Reading seems that youtube by default hids links in comments because of the whole spamming of scammers if anyone sends a link in a comment it has to be manually approved by the channel so it shows up.
I bought the Samsung Watch 4 when it came out for sleep tracking. It does look like I will need to upgrade at one point to something more reliable. I love that you're still doing these videos and checking everything! It's still too early to get something new, but if there's a new non-Apple-walled-garden device that sweeps the floor I'll be watching. Oura Ring being so good is very interesting. Cool that they're still alive and kicking, might be something for me to look into.
Non apple watch well only Samsung or Huawei tbh I am just waiting for the update they mentioned in their conference that will improve the watch in terms of health overall. If you are going to buy a ring there are a lot of alternatives even samsung is going to launch one.
@@sebas0469 would they still update Watch4? It looks like the Google Pixel 2 is doing better for sleep tracking based on this and some other videos from this channel.
Galaxy watch 4 was good at sleep tracking on me... but as sports tracker it sucked at all... steps totally wrong and calorie counting made no sense. Heartrate was ok. My venu 3 is so much better with all measurings. Sleep on venu 3 is ok but if i count movement moments at night as awake minutes, it fits perfect. Deep sleep tracking was accurate in robs testing video... thats only what i need, awake time and deep sleep and when i fall asleep. So venu 3 is best sports watch for me with an OK Sleep tracking i can work with
I'm using the galaxy watch five four over two months. I absolutely beg you people with folded hands that please help me . Galaxy watch does scoring and percentage of sleep Matrix with respect to the day. If I wake up to pee the clock measures from the next day. The sleep time splits in 2 sleep segments , the scoring starts from after 12. Fix this!!😢
I bought a fit2 and it worked well enough to figure out the total time of sleep. So i thought the newer samsung watch4 would be even better right? Well, nearly everytime when i woke up to go to the bathroom the watch still thought i was asleep. So it counted my steps but couldn't figure out that i was awake.
Hi, thanks for this comparison. I was thinking to buy GW6, however by this comparison of sleep tracking, I think GW4 is not bad choice either, although bit old. Can you please compare some day GW4 sleep tracking, to compare whether GW new models are doing better or worse? Thank you.
Thanks for yet another informative video providing valuable, science-based info that's important for anyone who wants to track their sleep; keep up the great work!
Regarding the frequent short awake moments during the second half of the night, I wonder whether this rather unusual sleep pattern is caused by feeling quite uncomfortable with all these cables attached to your head and face. I could not sleep at all. While one could argue that the perfect sleep tracker tracks ALL sleep phases, no matter how unusual they are, I could see that the algorithm focuses on more standard sleep patterns. So, would a "normal" sleeper get better results?
I think the better question to ask is if this pattern is consistent with all the other gadgets being tested using the same methodology, if it is then indeed it's due to this methodology and another methodology could be explored for more accurate results. It's hard to tell for a normal sleeper if you cannot get a good way of collecting data from it reliably.

The tech giant will be BANNED from selling smartwatches in the US THIS WEEK over claims it stole medical technology, A landmark ruling says" - I don't even want to think of the financial losses here... ..and yes I know this video is about Samsung, but this is big news.
Interesting results, my galaxy watch 6 classic is detecting about 3-8% more deep sleep than the average at around 1-1:30 hours of deep sleep every night which is distinctly different from yours where it detects deep sleep a lot less. I'm guessing that a lot of these variables will change depending on the person, some might have great results like the girl with the watch 5 and some might have horrible results like you did with the 6.
I have the galaxy watch 6 classic and the Apple Watch Ultra and many times I sleep with them to compare, some nights the Apple Watch seems to be better and some nights the galaxy watch 6 classic is more reliable. So I don’t think that there is a really good smartwatch for tracking sleep
