Nobody pointed out the most simple answer. The crew wasn't born under the same stars. They were from somewhere far away from that system. Duh.
Pointing out that something don’t make sense in a 100% fictional film, isn’t very bright tho
Where they were born is immaterial. The fact that on that planet their birthdays coincided with their superstitious antipathy towards people born during that zodiac period, regardless of location of birth, made the crew members unacceptable.
It’s science fiction. It doesn’t have to make sense. It’s not real.
@@leonleon2276
Pointing out apparent logical flaws in a script is bad but pointing out the obvious fictitious nature of fiction is good. Got it.
I don't think a society that uses the zodiac in government would care
A child was born and a star reappeared. A child born to be a leader. She’s definitely not gonna be a messiah figure now
The Orville is more Star Trek than current Star Trek is.
The Orville prisoners were born in a completely different and unrelated star system.. how on Earth can their calendar system even be the same! 😂
Unlikely, but not impossible.🙂
We need season 4 duuuuude
It’s not the same, that’s why it took them so long to realize what a Giliac is. It’s probably that planet’s version of Capricorn or something.
the way Star Trek has traditionally handled it is that it's an artifact of the translator
in that universe, there are probably many civilizations that evolved in a similar way who knows.
Another couple of seasons of this show need to be made! A very entertaining space adventure. Give us more!!
I love stories in which the first contact goes wrong when they find out something seriously wrong with the society they meet.
Reminds me of that one Stargate episode where they find a new human civilization and even help them fight off enemy bomber attacks only to find out the people they are fighting for are literal eugenic war mongerers and they basically landed in the Fuhrerbunker 1945 lol.
Can't remember if it was a Star Trek or a Stargate show, could have even been an episode of Doctor Who, but I remember one where they found out that after someone turned 20, that person would be killed.

@@TimmyTheNerd Sounds like Logan's Run.
Always amazing that every planet they visit has the same gravity and atmosphere as earth.
Maybe Earth-like worlds are a universal prerequisite for bi-pedal intelligent life to evolve?
or they mainly scan to such planets for easier contact.
They don't. Thats the whole point of the head of security.
@Zigblat Except for the planet the super strong crew members are from as their planet's gravity is so high is would crush a regular human to death.
Just like in almost EVERY sifi film and TV series
When watching the episode, I was surprised the Orville decided to make first contact. Being familiar with Star Trek's Prime Directive, a simple radio message would not be enough. It would still be considered too primitive for them to interfere with the natural development of the civilization. The inhabitants of the planet need to have faster than light travel capability, or became highly advanced in knowledge and technology. During the whole episode I was thinking, "You idiots. You should not have made contact with them."
How about responding to their message with a simple "NO."
Yes, but this isn't Star Trek. As explained in the beggining, they try to make contact with intelligent life as soon as possible so for said life not to end up in the wrong hands. It makes no sense to blame the characters of a movie for not following the rules of another one.
Why not contacting them?
I asked myself the same thing, especialy because in some episodes the Orville crew does follow the StarTrek prime directive. Why did they make this exception?
Because they asked if anyone was out there.
The other planets don't try to make contact with other life.
Everything that I have ever seen about "The Orville" describes it as a knockabout comedy parody of Star Trek. Yet here it is treated as THE most seriously po-faced space opera.
I think it's more like GALAXY QUEST in a number of ways.
The first season was semi-comedic and was initially marketed as a completely farcical parody, but I think Seth just pitched it like that to get it approved by the network. He very quickly turned it into a completely straight scifi show. One episode dealt with the topic of suicide and was so deathly somber and serious that it outdid even the most grim episodes of Star Trek in terms of being thought-provoking and melancholy. There wasn't a single joke from start to finish. That episode was an outlier because they usually still throw in a little comic relief with the very talented and funny cast they have, but it's 100% a serious and legit scifi show. It's not a parody of Trek at all but more like an homage.
@@bobsnow6242 Fair enough, there, Ted. Were you involved in the production at all?
@@alancharlton7892 its literally nothing like galaxy quest. The 1st season had more comedic moments, but grows from there. It is a fantastic sci-fi show all on its own.
@@bobsnow6242 : Why repeat so many times?
I gave this thumbs up, but thumbs down for all the repeats.
Seth walking away from The Orville is like walking away from a potential Star Trek franchise. I know he doesn't need the money, but still...
Yeah to be honest I kind of feel like it could turn into start a franchise and maybe replace albeit temporary Star Trek but I always feel like that franchise despite this ups and downs it's kind of irreplaceable (same goes with Star Wars)
MacFarlane still has like Family Guy, American dad on whatever projects he's working on that week As for live action stuff the Ted prequel TV show
There was a potential fourth season planned out and the show is confirmed not to be cancelled plus Adrianne Palicki start doing other projects and Seth MacFarlane too many factors as to why there's not a fourth season yet (like his other projects like cartoons and live action shows I mentioned above)
I just feel like western media is a bit fallen these days but that's a story for another day and plus I'm more of a Star Wars guy to be honest
@@changsiah2 How's this for an Orville / Family Guy crossover episode idea? The crew of the Orville encounters a planet of Peter Griffins. They could be like the
Pakleds from Star Trek.
@@DavidLS1 I could see that happen
Captain Stewie will take his place
I don't know how many timelines are there but there is a timeline where mankind was able to travel space and wars followed. In other timelines it became extinct through wars and natural disasters. In other timelines, human beings evolved to be truly what they were meant to be, enjoy nature and expand it.
Those future humans are not too bright despite the advancement...
At least from your portrayal...
Did you see how people acted during the Pandemic?
I would cut off this planet from all inter galctic communication looking out into the cosmo for friends while still having this barbaric practice makes it obvious yours not ready for the galaxy
You're catching on.
It's why we haven't left this rock.
Look at all our spiritual and religious practices.
Look at the racism.
Look at how we treat one another throughout courtship.
This place is a prison.
This is what man hath wrought.
Thats would be logical thought best thing deploy dampeners around their system and leave a com beacon listening post in their space with a repeating math problem a location of star co ordinates that can only be solved by developing technology to scan distant stars and learn their propertys .
Once the solution is received a a second first contact examines their development from orbit and decides whether to communicate or continue their isolation.
I would really enjoy to watch the whole series trough your recaps !
"Trough your recaps"?
Well, you can't lead a horse to water but you can always lead them to the food trough.
My only problem with this episode is they have the same year duration as earth.
Thats not exactly Sure, birthday next week falls under thst particular zodiac sign on that Planet, but it gives those ppl no way to find out how long the year is on earth, no comparidon is done.
Also, a Planet, rougly the size of earth, rougly the Same maas, needs if the dünn also is similiar to our sone, have at least a similiar Orbit. So rougly the ssme is not unusual, its physic done right.
Please try to proofread & make corrections, if necessary, before pressing the "comment".
They, upon discovering the deception could conclude that the original star that disappeared a long time ago was that equipment malfunctioning.
So religious zealotry is an intergalactic kinda thang. 🤯🤔
Multiverse Star Trek!
Bortus, not Borchews. You AIs need to let us humans who have seen this show have your jobs🤨
I found The Orville much better that Star Trek and I’m a trekky. Star Trek is my religion. Please make more The Orville shows.
This sounds like a good way to get your world glassed..
Okay… so the prefect risked planetary bombardment just to satisfy their tradition?
Who wrote this? A mule?
Thanks for posting
4:45 That is a freakin P90 What the hell???
Respect to Stargate
Leftover props just reused instead of creating a new weapon. 😊
That was a good episode!
But then again, all episodes of the Orville are great!
I loved the show don't know y it's cancelled
Palicki said it's because it costs too much
@@ryebread921 Yes, like a million per episode. I believe. Sorry, SEVEN MILLION. I was wrong.
You know, with everything coming to light... astrology might be pretty scientific.... on a macro level.
Nope. Not even then.
There are not copyright problems with the Star Trek franchise?
Why should they? They, dont copy stuff, they only do something similiar, thats, allowed. As long as they dont use two nscelles, a Main hull ans a sauer section, rename the ship into enterprise or Orville,.... They dont evrn use the Same colorsheme for the uniforms, they have blue for command

No, it is not as focused as that. It is a reference to a more general, arbitrary discrimination. On the planet referenced on this show, discrimination is related to "astrological signs". On Earth, we arbitrarily discriminate based on race, religion or.............etc. This story is a condemnation of our society's discrimination, without directly mentioning it.
Star Trek (TOS) did this many times. One episode that I remember was when a society the Enterprise visited had a planet ending war because the people were black on one side and white on the other and the people who they hated had reverse coloring.
*Peter Griffin saves the day bahaha, why do I always hear Peter whenever I see that guy. 😅*
1:40 in and I get the strangest feeling I've see something like this before. #startrek
"Is anyone out there?"
"No."
How do you imprison aliens from an advanced civilization under the premise of your superstitious rituals with gour primitive weapons ?
Because of a thick plot armour.
Makes you think about some of the things we idiotically do here on Earth...
lol startrek parody ...
I never noticed before that the ship looks like a toilet seat
In time, they would have a different concept of existence!
where can you see this show at?
To the question of "Is anyone out there?" is " You don't wanna know... "😬👽
are we outta ideas for recaps?
Wish someone would do a recap of the 60s sci-fi comedy IT'S ABOUT TIME.
I'd like to see an accounter with them and the bug plannet,,, starship troopers.😂😂😂
Comedy aliens with great ears.
No matter what the outcome, Finding a planet or encounter another species can be dangerious enough, When they found out the star doesn't exist, the government will found a way to build new spaceship with weapon and will go after the visitors to destroy. Problem is, space is vast, and if they don't know the signature of the visitors ship.
In Star-Trek TNG they learn interfere with other world can create problem like this one, eventually it become a Prime Derector that have to fallow a new rules
Need more season’s more episodes

Black guy always gets arrested in all movies
Black guy always gets the most ridiculous makeup in Startrek
Borchoose of the McClan. Wow! You can't make this up!
What is the title of this movie?
Plywood and 2x4 in the prison camp?
Hopefully, the discovery will come too late for them to do anything without disruption. The giliax will have proven themselves too much and integrated into too many things for things to return to the way they were.
How it's possible they have the same language?
Translator implants are supposed to make this happen
Is this a reference to startrek or?
So what is the name of the series
The Orville
The Orville would never have existed if it wasn't for the Enterprise. Its like it was made of stainless steel instead of duranium., you know ... cheap
Their tecnology is already advance to the point they should not care, but i think the First prefect would just ask kelly and bordus to return to the ship, he dind´t know the not use force rule, so as far as he know he could be starting a war with far more advance civilization be putting then in the camp. So Even if he want to do that i dont think his advisors would aprove and a coup would have hapened.

The ship looks like a pimple popper or a blackhead remover. For your toes maybe.
Sure let's piss off the technologically more advanced group that's part of an army. I just know if aliens ever came to Earth, which they won't we can't even get along with ourselves, we'd do something stupid to anger them.
In their timeline, when they discover the star is fake, the leaders of their world will withhold the information as long as they can.

What will happen when they find the truth? Being embarrassed that they’ve been deceived, they will fall back on their belief that all persons born under this sign are liars. It was a temporary and perhaps necessary ploy under the circumstances but premises built on lies can never stand forever…and it is true that their superstitious belief is also a type of lie, but it is a self deception and not easily overcome.
If you must do these things by auto, couldn't you at least check the pronunciation of names?
25th , this was known maybe 20 years ago .
you'd think the regorians would know how long their own gestation period is and simply institute a month of abstinence however many months before giliac. then seth could make an episode strawmanning ramadan instead of astrology.
Why do they shake hands with their left hands?
Is this show finally back on? It was a fantastic show, and it just kind of disappeared.
Intergalactic mud🦈
What movie is this?
A TV show called The Orville that I think is on one of the pay internet streaming sites like Amazon or Paramount.. They had a couple of seasons then it went away..
But this story makes no sense the position of the stars the Orville crewmembers were born in is completely different in the star systems seen from their planet it is a 3d universe you know
IF YOU ARE A SAGITTARIAN DON'T BE CAUGHT IN THIS TOWN AFTER THE SUN GOES DOWN!!!
Well I guess it’s official. It’s stupid to believe in Zodiac astrology signs; No matter what galaxy you are from.
WHAT A CROCK!
Nah ,i think this is more better
Explain they are not affected by Thier astrology by they are born in other solar system
The notion that traits and events "are based" on the planets is not what astrology is about. It is simple time and observation, and the causation is not suggested leading to those who wish to prevent the knowledge from destroying all world religions. the entire bible is structured using the 20 day cycle, and the 36 deccans from front to back. 20 is a score for crying out loud..
i like how at the end they say the "voice" took 5 hours, maybe of computer power. that's an ai voice lol. Doesn't count.
@Spoiler Lab: Clearly, the narrator has never seen THE ORVILLE, only knowing what is written to be read out, but who is BORTEWS?
Could the narrator mean the Moklan, BORTUS? For the benefit of the narrator, That's 2 syllables, BORT US.
Is this Galaxy Quest?
No.
Why do they never say the name of the movie?
It's a show. Literally called the Orville. Said it a dozen times but guess you assumed he was just saying the name of their ship
This is a comedy, right?
What is this? Star trek 2018.!! Lol 🛸🌠☄
68 👍's up S Lab thank you for sharing 😊
What exactly is the point of this video?
Please, makes no sense. So freaken woked. On earth the zodiac signs are off by 3 to 4 weeks after all this time etc.
Something to consider...
The Earth is continuously bombarded by cosmic rays from different parts of the galaxy and during different times of the year, the rays we receive vary. Now consider that radiation plays a critical role in DNA development. There could actualy be some truth to astroligical influences on personality.
Those rays also are affecting Earthquakes, Volcanic Activity (which is increasing annually, with quite a few which have been dormant for at least 1000 years now active, as well as Global Warming/Cooling, far more than the excess CH4, H2O (responsible for warming) C, CO, SO2 (responsible for poisoning the atmosphere) & CO2 (responsible for atmospheric cooling, cloud formation & extreme flooding rains within the Tropik boundaries or extreme snow storms north of the Tropik of Cancer & will increase to a lesser extent, a fair way south of the Tropik of Capricorn.
Why does this feel like a Star Trek knock off?
It doesn't to me.
Possibly a mix of Star Trek, Andromeda Ascendant & Galaxy Quest.
Star trek without the prime derective
Star trek knock off.
It seems like that planet was founded by women from earth ☕

Never saw the Orville. Always wanted to see it but Seth MacFarlane has been go farther and farther off the deep end to the point I won’t watch his shit anymore. So I can get the highlights here.
This movie seems to be a bad spinoff from Star Trek
