Hey I'm pretty new to this as well. But people usually prep their canvas to avoid the paint getting into the canvas texture which usually shows up as white spots. To prime they use gesso which is like a watered down acryclic paint. This makes the canvas more even and hard so that acrylic paint doesn't get absorbed as easily. You can do max 3 layers of this. And to tone, people usually a base colour of usually burnt orange/brown or the colour that dominates in the painting. This is usually acrylic paint mixed with water. This allows the canvas to be covered so that no white spots show up. It is also less intimidating for some individuals as it is no longer a blank canvas. The colour beneath also provides the paint with some warmth. Hope this helps.
@@JameelahYasmin aah super nice explanation, thank you! May I ask if it's also okay to prime with watered down acrylic when I'm using water mixable oil colours? Do I need to let it dry before painting? 💕
You are such a great teacher and the art is vibrant
So inspiring to see your process. Love the tip of using a makeup brush to blend. Makes so much sense.
u are my inspiration when I paint! Is it okay if I paint something inspired by you and post it? I will of course tag you and give you credits!
How do you paint the sides of the canvas? What paint colour do you choose to use?
Love the painting! But I'm confused with the canvas prep. Is it such an obvious step for everyone, or why do you talk about it so little?
