- South African comedian Eugene Khoza touches base with Sizwe Dhlomo and the Kaya Drive team since being absent from the spotlight for 6-years.
The funnyman shared that he needed to take a break from the stand-up comedy lifestyle to honour his truth. His reasons for taking some time off from the industry is that he didn’t get into the comedy arena to get famous.
One of his funniest sketches was alongside Bonang and the biggest SA comedian, Trevor Noah. It’s one of those sketches that still tickles people into a wheeze.
The last time Eugene was making headlines was in 2016, but he’s now slowly edging back onto the intimate space that is stand-up.
Eugene Khoza was best known as the co-host of the SABC 1 sports magazine show Countdown 2010. The show aired between 2008 to 2010.
The Pretoria-born personality grew in popularity for his impeccable multilingual delivery. With a deep understanding of the different cultures in SA, Eugene was able to engage with just about everyone on a witty, yet funny level.
He went onto to host the Horror Café Comedy Night for a year and made it to the semi-finals of M-Net’s Laugh Out Loud comedy competition.

Very insightful interview. I missed watching Eugene. I have the same sentiments and I'm always austrocised for saying the bigger Kevin hart got the less funnier he became. Eugene just helped me to understand I not crazy .

People think money is everything. I have a childhood friend who has legally got very rich in the last 5 years. Growing up, it was always his goal. The brother now battles with depression, and he doesnt have money issues at all. What shocks me the most is his lack of appetite. The man struggles to feed his own body. He is normal from afar but if u know him well, he confides. I dont know y this happens to black diamonds especially.
This happens to most. Specifically those whose "rich" was an escape from extreme poverty. Depression sets in, exhaustion kicks in, and you realize that you haven't actually lived life, because your focus has been escaping poverty.
