Wow, I had no idea the colors would be that "similar" with the lens swaps! The base yellow LEDs with the clear lens was the most impressive for a warm white, was not expecting it to look that good. Well done to the Engineering and Design teams!!
Wow this is amazing also nice if the lens gets worn after many years of driving to just replace them, this is the best brand of lighting, you guys make wonderful products
Oh, I am SO getting the yellow versions with some clear lens replacements! I'm not a fan of the 6000k color, too blueish and you don't get as much light as you could if you were to go with a slightly warmer color like 5000k. I just got a 2017 bumper for my 96 Ford F250, and after seeing this video there is no question that I'm replacing the factory fog lights with these! Thank you guys for making such a well-performing and versatile, quality product. I can't wait to get my own set!
I would love to see these come as 4000k standard. I hate that I have to pay a bunch extra to swap lenses. I am glad to finally see a warm white option without having to pay Baja Design prices. As for the back lights, are they still an amber backlight with a clear lense or do they use white leds?
If you’re contemplating getting these pods, just do it. If you’re not happy with the beam pattern, $60 for a pair and maybe half n hour total remove and reinstall, you’re good to go. Easiest lenses I’ve ever swapped.
This is great But would be great to be able to swap lens without having to remove level screw as if you are doing a complete install on f150. Some kind of release system for the light would be great.
@@diodedynamics Thank you very much for your reply! Not saying quick release system just something other then a uninstall to just remove lens then reinstall and then readjust lighting unit. A quick release system my be problem. I think the lights are great.
@DiodeDynamics It's the angled trim piece removable and also can you swap the lens in those with the angled trim? I wanna replace the rigid FL for this set up in a tundra TRD PRO.
I have two SS3 pods mounted side by side and am thinking of running one clear and one yellow. I’m hoping this will help with the glare from snow. Thoughts?
Hey Mike! This sounds like a good setup. If you live in an area that gets a lot of snow, yellow lights would be the way to go. It is said that they reflect much less than the white!
@DiodeDynamics I’m loving the warm white color just like the factory halogen fog light on my car. Are all the SS3 yellow pods lineup use the same 4000k LED chips or just on the SS3 max?
The Max comes standard with a 6000k cool white chip on the PCB, regardless of white or yellow. However, the Sport and Pro yellow pods include a 4000k white!
@@diodedynamics thank you for the explanation. I noticed the TIR lens on the SS3 Max is a little darker like more of amber look. What about experimenting swapping out the amber ss3 max lenses to the ss3 pro white led then compare the output(color and candela) between the regular amber ss3 pro?
@@JuskoLord247 Due to the lens color, the output will be slightly dimmer, we have tested this here at the HQ. The output color will be the same 3000k selective yellow though!

If I wanted to swap my lenses from a yellow SS3 Sport fog light to the Max lenses because of the more true amber color, would that work well? Would there be any difference in light output?

@@OceansideCreations thanks for the quick answer! I'm trying to get a pair but I got square bezel with rigid in it. I'm not so sure how to make it work. I have seen other types of FL they have but I dont think the shape is square at all for the the TRD pro bezel
Are the lenses so fragile that one would have to be so careful when swapping? Makes me wonder how careful I would have to be on a trail making sure no contact with branches, stones or dust.

That seals the deal, those 4000k will be perfect in my back bumper as backup lights.
This is freaking dope! I got the SS3 Pro White SAE Fog originally. Now I can get the driving to switch out to :D

Looking into the ss6 6 inch sae. Amber ...what's the difference with the 12inch ones other than 6 more inches 🤔
They are two 6" Lightbars built into one, essentially, so you will have more of a spread and twice the light output!
Ask your wife what the difference is lol..
striped out the screws on the back of the lenses can I order new ones?

Does it matter if the the light is installed upside down?
We wouldn't recommend installing the light upside down. With some optics, this can effect the beam pattern spread.
If I wanted to swap my lenses from a yellow SS3 Sport fog light to the Max lenses because of the more true amber color, would that work well? Would there be any difference in light output?
There would be some loss of intense light, however you would achieve a more amber output than the Sport Yellow SS3 optics!
@@diodedynamics Would it be significantly less bright, or not too noticeable?
@@milesblake2754 It won't be that noticeable to the naked eye, no!

No, these are made out of a polycarbonate. So, they're actually super durable.
