Thank you so much for your review of this beautiful deck. I received this deck without the book and I was glad for that because I really wanted to read the cards intuitively and your review encourages me to do so! Fantastic review.
A very comprehensive review, really helped me to appreciate each and every card. Loved the way you divided the cards at the end into people, animals etc. Thank you so much.
I do love the artwork in this deck, I can get lost in looking at the color and details. You have caused me to order another deck thanks to your wonderful and thoughtful review. I do wish they had included the wolf and a few more animals but I also have the Spirit Animal Oracle and I look forward to using these two decks together.
Thank-you Kelly for such a beautiful review! I have followed CBR for many years and always LOVE her work! Her decks are made with such intention that the readings are Spectacularly on point. I look forward to working with this deck. She has had Jena do the art on her past several decks (possibly all of them) and I absolutely love her work! Thanks for enabling me once again!
You are a great reviewer! My favorite when I want to know a deck. It is a very beautiful deck and it reads nice. I received my deck a week ago from book depository and I was surprised when I received it so much earlier than March 27th. Thank you again for your review. I love how detailed it is and I learn always a lot from you.
The Truth in Story I don’t know if it makes a difference but I live in Europe and that might be the reason why? It didn’t say Pre-order anymore but the date was still March 27. I wish you a wonderful weekend. 🌺
Thank you for a marvelous exploration of the deck and cultural relationships. I will be getting this deck - my only criticism of the cards is that some include the word “The” and others don’t and I personally wish they had just left “the” off entirely and made the description lettering smaller. But yes, a gorgeous colorful deck, love it. Blessed Be.
Thank you very much for this insightful review of the cards. I just got this beautiful deck, I´m a beginner at Shaman cards, more used to Tarot cards and French oracle cards where you can get sharp, sometimes brutal answers about journeys, money, difficult times, love, children etc. I find them spot on. The problem I have with Colette is that too many of her cards don´t have a precise meaning. I get it, it´s built up of spiritual messages, but sometimes it can be tedious as the cards can mean almost anything and nothing and miss the point for me. You have helped a lot and I see some of the cards now in a new light. Again, it´s a gorgeous deck with stunning energy and I look forward working with it. I would love to see you do a reading with the cards.
Oh this calling me! I have the Good Tarot and I was looking for an oracle deck as a Accompanying to my tarot readings! Thank you for the interpretation! I love symbology and I use the Jung concept with archetypes. Absolutely fits in my imagination!
I have all of the decks Jena has illustrated and this might be her best work. I have this on preorder and was hesitant to watch the walkthrough and spoil the surprise. But oh well, I couldn't resist. I really like that it is more gender neutral and balanced than some of her other decks. Thank you so much Kelly!
I have to agree, I don't have all of hers but I've seen all of them and I feel like she just took a powerful step forward in her art and it's exciting to see.
I often read the guidebooks to program the subconscious with the vocabulary of the deck. Then I forget what I read and work intuitively from there. Ordered the deck btw.
Thanks for posting this. I have been considering this deck for a bit. I am totally blind, so it helps me immensely to know the order that the cards will be in… You have just saved somebody lots of time and trouble :-)
Thank you for doing this video. I held off getting this deck cause I didn't understand it until you did this I just ordered it. Think I will be using this a lot with several decks mainly with Naked Heart Tarot
I just realized while watching this that I have a book by Alberto Villoldo, one of the names on the box. I have his book "Shaman, Healer, Sage". This deck is going on my wishlist. :) Thanks for the video, Kelly!
I preordered this deck I am very interested with working with this deck but not released on Amazon until March 26th but we know that can be pushed back. Love your reviews if I want to really research a deck I go to your channel. Thank you Kelly for how well you get into a deck!
You are very welcome, though I think it should be a given. I think most people know me enough by now that my reviews are my own so transparency is a necessity in my book :* Thank you for watching!
The Truth in Story totally agree!!! But I’ve come across a couple of reviews where people weren’t transparent 😳🙄😡 I really don’t think there’s anything wrong with being given a deck or book or whatever product to review it’s when people are not up front about it that it’s a problem ... anyway thanks for being up front !!! Enjoyed the review and just love the Bill Meyers interview of JC...... I so enjoy your channel!
I agree, I have no clue why someone wouldn't say so. Giving books out for pre-review is a pretty standard long tradition so it didn't even cross my mind that anyone would give it a second thought about it in the deck world.
That Tree of life is amazing... I am on the fence about the deck...I agree with someone saying it looks like the good tarot... I think I imagined it would be more earthy or more raw... You did a great job with the walkthrough as always! What I do want is the tree of life and the middle world cards... so I would buy it just for those. I did a video on the Smoky Mirror ... it is from the Toltec tradition from what I know.
Kerry Wanamaker It really is different than the Good Tarot, I have another video comparing it to the Shamanic Medicine Cards that might help you decide :)
I was very hopeful about this deck when the video started, because it felt like it'll be more generic. I understand why not, but yeah, not my shamanistic world haha But thank you for the walkthrough and everything you added to it!
This has gotten to be the best made Hayhouse deck made in terms of aesthetic. The theme makes me a bit wary to get it not knowing whether or not its better well-researched or not. Jena DellaGrotaglia's artwork in this deck looks so much better than the Good Tarot. Good to know the guidebook has decent information in it. Thanks for doing this walkthrough. I think it will stay on my list for now.
Sorry to be so off topic but does anyone know of a way to get back into an instagram account..? I was dumb lost the login password. I love any assistance you can offer me!
@Devon Nelson thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site on google and Im in the hacking process now. Seems to take a while so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Thanks for the thorough walk through. I'm sad they didn't include any water creatures: fish, sea turtles, dolphins... something from the water element.
I know saunas maybe aren’t as mediative sounding as a sweat lodge. But my husband is in Finland right now and went to a sauna. Apparently, it’s very common to take family or groups of coworkers to a sauna and then have dinner. Very interesting. I never though Finland was big with saunas.
I think sauna’s makes sense in relation to a similar experience to a sweat lodge! I have not heard of going to a sauna as a group and then dinner but it sounds like a relaxing evening :D I do love saunas, I guess it’s probably the closest many would get to a sweat lodge!
The Truth in Story sounds very relaxing indeed! He went with a vendor in Finland. They took him to a small lodge where they were the only group. The guy who owned the lodge made the food with all local ingredients and cooked and entertained them. I’m so jealous lol
Hey Kelly! I am watching on my TV but had to get on my computer to leave a few comments :) The crow: most people don't realize it but it is also part of Indian culture. They represent the ancestors, so I will most likely be working with my connection to crow versus the book on that card :) Flow: I love that elemental cards sometimes have 'faces' because it is sort of a tribute to the 'spirit' that life force that exists within the elements. I wonder sometimes, if they could see the spirit of the tree is they would be so ready to cut it down. The Gatherer also feels like a Harvest card. the Ghost Dance and other specific cards for aboriginal tribes around the world to me work in this deck. It's about bringing their wisdom and teachings and history into the light :) It is so fun seeing the cards that you pulled for me come up! Oh, meant to note, the Peruvian cross - there are Peruvian shaman who are part of unbroken traditions. I have seen documentaries with them, and they do work with the cross as a portal and tribute to the cardinal directions, so they got that right :) LOL Yup, as soon as you showed her on the screen my heart raced XO In meso American traditions the shaman drank a potion from white water lily which allowed the shaman to transform into jaguar for journeying. For me it is part of my soul dna, not a totem, but part of my existence, and definitely a shape-shifter to journey worlds. Can't wait to journey into that lower world card!! Ligtening, which you pulled for me too, I definitely don't get the tower card energy, but it felt to me more like transformation of energy, a build up and release that can be used for creation or destruction but I guess I come at it from a shamanic view rather than a tarot one :( but ya I get it :D OMGODDESS the mystical shaman card and reading for it xoxoxo (Patch-a-mama soft sound :D) The Rainmaker is a powerful card! I will definitely be looking closely at it. Ohh and the Sacrifice card xo Smoky Mirror is definitely a Buddhist, you can see it in the design and the mudra. Beautiful card. Eek this is too long, want to comment more but will end here xo
just a note, there are peoples and animals among and within the cards, back ground,, almost shadows with in the pictures..does anyone else see these ??? the ancient ones has both a male and female form up front...I saw the male image first then the female came forward.
I appreciate your explanation of where the term "shamanism" originated, I didn't know that. Living in CA I grew up heavily influenced by Native American culture, and I too just always assumed it was connected to native people here. And your deep dive into the intersection of cultural beliefs is so spot on, you are such a wise voice for this topic and so timely. These deck creators were awfully smart and knew what they were doing when they contacted you. : )
Lovely images and nice to hear your thoughts on The Power of Myth. Have you come across the Joseph Campbell 'Follow Your Bliss' deck? I did a mini review and sampling on my channel three or four videos ago. It's based around Campbell's quotes, without images - I think a combination of those quotes with images - like those we're seeing here - would be VERY powerful....
Can you tell me what Blue Angel card you are comparing to in this video? The Zia Sun symbol has been following me around lately and now I'm intrigued. Thanks!
Beautiful deck!!! I watched up until 28:49 and then at the end Lol! I'll save the rest to watch when I get my copy in a few weeks :D You did an excellent job of reviewing this, and I appreciated (and agree with) the context you provided at the beginning about Shamanism etc.
what is wrong with cultural appropriation. You wouldn't have roads without the romans for goodness sake. You eat pizza and curry and drink tea and coffee.
Also, let's not forget that most of those goods you mention as examples for why cultural appropriation is okay ie. coffee, tea, curry, pizza, chocolate, sugar, tobacco etc were all procured and made a part of life for many people in the Western(read: predominantly white) world through cycles of intense violence and genocide of the people native to those places; most of whom had actually been using and cultivating these plants and practices for generations before the Euros came knocking with their hands out.
@Melanie Willard My comment included nothing about the appropriation of Shamanism as a practice. I was replying to the original commenter who seems to think cultural appropriation is okay because it means they now get to have pizza and curry with their coffee. Which is a comment that could only be made by someone who has never felt first hand the harmful effects of having the best, most profitable bits of your culture stolen to the detriment of yourself and your people. Perhaps the Romans did steal and wipe out much of European culture 1400 years ago but the original commenter and yourself have no idea what that felt like and have never seen such a thing happen to you or your culture in your or your family's lifetime. But that's not the case for native Americans, African Americans, Indians, Indigenous Australians, and many many other groups of people who still exist and still have to watch this go on with their cultures and heritages. And such a viewpoint that it's okay can only come from people who have never been harmed by it.
Cultural appropriation usually lifts a cultural element for fashion or trend, and ignores the significance of the root culture. What makes it not okay is that it’s just not respectful. I am a member of an indigenous group (Taino), and I do not find most neo pagan “appropriation” to be real appropriation because it’s usually co-opted with deep respect. Not always though. I, by the way, love faeries. Not the original Celtic idea, but the Disney ideal. I would consider this to be a form of appropriation, but it’s one I’m okay with, personally. So there’s an example of an indigenous person co-opting a Caucasian element.
In my opinion, what would be true appropriation would be to take the Andean Cross, for example, and pop it onto a T-shirt for fashion, with no respect that it’s a sacred symbol.
It's a good looking deck. I just wish they did a bit more research into African spirituality. Pick a country. Any country. As I am not a fan of Alberto, I am on the fence about it. Maybe I need to see it in person.
It’s too bad none of these resonate with you in African spirituality! I do not know anything personally about the creators, I just focused on checking out the symbols and practices used on the cards and whether those worked for me. As with art and music and literature sometimes I can love creative pieces of people I probably wouldn’t want in my friendship circle 🤣
I am so on the fence and torn between this one and the Shamanic Medicine Oracle cards. I love the artwork, but I need more from the actual keywords or guidebook...can't put my finger on it. I don't know anything about Alberto - what's up with him, curious as to why you don't like him. I do know that I could get lost in the images and the guidebook is gorgeous. I feel like the guidebook's content, though, is watered down by too many contributors. Fortunately, it appears Jena had more creative control this deck's go around than previous decks, as I see her style most prevalent in the Mystical Shaman. Kelly, yet again, another beautiful, deep and comprehensive review - thank you! OyasGirl, you always give me good food for thought :-D, Blessings, Kim
I appreciate how thorough and thoughtful your review is, though I would like to offer a correction about the oroborus, it is actually Egyptian. The oldest known depiction can be found is in a shrine of Tutankamun.
Jesus went on a vision quest, so it's not solely Native American. Though maybe not called a vision quest, there are stories all over the earth that depict the same principles, as I'm sure you know.
It's definitely one of those things that is personal so I get it, I have the Good Tarot and I find this deck far more earthy and vivid and "present" but that is definitely personal taste!
I whole heartedly agree that I am blessed :) Of course I also spent all day researching BUT I love things like that :D Thank YOU for watching such a long one!
Eartkeeper would be the devil card. I'm in love with the Wisdom Oracle already {by Collete} and this deck is also stunning! wish I got it for a review, would be nice to talk about impressions and messages each card has to share.
yes I have it a year now, and It is very precise, when I use it alone, and when I combine it with tarot, it sums up the whole reading. and it's much more serious than the pictures look at first glance
Hi dear. Thank you for your quick reply. I guess in the end it's a matter of personal tastes and being able to connect to the deck or not. Because of your review I have ordered another shamanic deck. And I love when you ramble, it not pointless, it shows you know what you are speaking about.
Enough of the idea of cultural appropriation. No one owns nature or spirituality, etc. I don't see anyone not using toilet paper cause their "culture" didn't come up w it first. I see in all "practices" very similar practices, same actually, only called something else. We are all connected. How about helping others because it's helping. Some people didn't learn the childhood concept of sharing, and it shows. This comment is not towards the review because I know socially it had to be reviewed with consideration of the overly sensitive and outraged. Cancel culture is a culture you should not appropriate. Do that.
I'm glad you were able to figure it wasn't for you before purchase! :) I have loved it since the review but it just goes to show we all have different needs/wants from decks :)
I agree that nearly all of my videos are too long, but that’s the way I do them so you’ll find them all that way, thankfully there are many out there with shorter videos and I can certainly understand going towards those instead :)

I do wish they had included the wolf and a few more animals but I also have the Spirit Animal Oracle and I look forward to using these two decks together.
YES!! The Lotus symbol of the Beauty Way is stunning and I too saw the beauty of the lotus emerging from the mud. This is a great review
Yes yes and yes :) And thank YOU for watching!

You are very welcome and thank YOU for watching! The only other deck of theirs I have is the Good Tarot, I'm glad you enjoyed this!
Brilliant Review! Well Done! Love and Light!
Aw thank you so very much, you did get it quickly! It definitely appears getting it on Book Depository is the way to go until the end of the month!
Blessed Be.

Thank you for the in-depth video! I loved how you explained each card. I will definitely get this deck.
I often read the guidebooks to program the subconscious with the vocabulary of the deck. Then I forget what I read and work intuitively from there. Ordered the deck btw.

Thank you for such a deep review Kelly....always love hearing your thoughts. This is beautiful, stunning art. Just ordered!
Aw thank YOU for taking the time to watch, I appreciate it and hope you enjoy your deck! ::HUGS::
I preordered this deck I am very interested with working with this deck but not released on Amazon until March 26th but we know that can be pushed back. Love your reviews if I want to really research a deck I go to your channel. Thank you Kelly for how well you get into a deck!
so excited to see you walk through this! I'm so conflicted about this deck- can't wait to hear your thoughts!
I hope it helps! I'll be comparing this to the Shamanic Medicine cards for people who are trying to decide!

Such a powerful experience!! ❤️
@@TheTruthinStory yes it was!
Great review! It would be great if you could talk a little about the differences for you between the healing shaman deck and this? Maybe at live chat?
Yes, I am actually going to sit down myself and compare them so I am happy to tape that if you'd like!
The Truth in Story Yes please!
just a note, there are peoples and animals among and within the cards, back ground,, almost shadows with in the pictures..does anyone else see these ??? the ancient ones has both a male and female form up front...I saw the male image first then the female came forward.

In my opinion, what would be true appropriation would be to take the Andean Cross, for example, and pop it onto a T-shirt for fashion, with no respect that it’s a sacred symbol.
.....sold.....😻
LOL :D
I'm going to compare the two decks today or tomorrow to see if that can help people decide between them!
You're awesome! Thanks so much! :-D
I know this is an old video but what tarot deck do you feel would compliment this please?
I use the Crow Tarot very often with it!
Awesome cards but the book are not colorful I feel so sad.
I appreciate how thorough and thoughtful your review is, though I would like to offer a correction about the oroborus, it is actually Egyptian. The oldest known depiction can be found is in a shrine of Tutankamun.
oOperpetualOo ooo thank you so much! I love knowing that and appreciate your sharing it!!
Jesus went on a vision quest, so it's not solely Native American. Though maybe not called a vision quest, there are stories all over the earth that depict the same principles, as I'm sure you know.
What is the name of the oracle of the blue angel deck?
If you're talking about the one around 27:07, it's the Shamanic Medicine Oracle cards
To me this looks like "the good tarot" way way to much for me to se the shaman earthiness
It's definitely one of those things that is personal so I get it, I have the Good Tarot and I find this deck far more earthy and vivid and "present" but that is definitely personal taste!
Yes very much, and after seeing them side by side in the chat yesterday, I changed my mind on it. Was great to just see them together.
You are blessed to be able to get decks like this ... i am waiting for amazon shipment. 😫 Very nice review, thank you. ☮️
I don’t have the Wisdom Oracle, maybe I need to take another look at it :)
yes I have it a year now, and It is very precise, when I use it alone, and when I combine it with tarot, it sums up the whole reading. and it's much more serious than the pictures look at first glance
Your review is awesome. But I do not feel impressed by this deck. Not at all. It just feels..kinda of empty to me.
I’m glad if you are able to see if something works for you or not, that’s a success for me as you can put your focus on something that will! ❤️
Hi dear. Thank you for your quick reply. I guess in the end it's a matter of personal tastes and being able to connect to the deck or not. Because of your review I have ordered another shamanic deck. And I love when you ramble, it not pointless, it shows you know what you are speaking about.
I completely agree, we have to find what works for us and it isn't always going to be the same, that's the beauty of it!
Do that.
Gross waste in the packaging ironic being its a shamanic deck... So OTT
I'm not that impressed with this particular deck. Lovely work, it just doesn't do it for me.
I'm glad you were able to figure it wasn't for you before purchase! :) I have loved it since the review but it just goes to show we all have different needs/wants from decks :)
this video is way too long. cut to the points.
I agree that nearly all of my videos are too long, but that’s the way I do them so you’ll find them all that way, thankfully there are many out there with shorter videos and I can certainly understand going towards those instead :)
