That was a lot of work but must feel wonderful going into your pristine greenhouse. “Don’t cross the beams” 😂😂
Oh it feels fab… there’s nothing like a nice clean greenhouse
👻 😂😂
I absolutely love how neat and clean you are in your greenhouse. I’m going clean my greenhouse tomorrow. Thanks for the information
A clean greenhouse does wonders for my mood 😁😁
Nice job!👍🏽 Every couple of months I get better at knocking out my garden chores that I put off thanks to you both. I’ll watch you in the morning and I get all excited to “get things done”. I finally bird netted my 10x20 poly tunnel frame. I had to put the bird net up because my new little pond has brought scores of birds. They destroyed my beet greens, and peas I started.
👏👏👏👏 awesome job getting out to get the sucky jobs done!!!
Great advice on deep cleaning the greenhouse Eli :)
I wonder…. Is it the same with a poly tunnel or do you have some extra tips?
Wow. I just sweep and brush away a few spider webs. Guess I better get to work. 😜 Your effort is quite impressive!
Your greenhouse is quite new though… it’s maybe not accumulated so much grime yet 😁😁😁
I plant garlic in my beds to grow but also pest confusion. In summer I can grow tomatoes and peppers in these beds with the scent of garlic still in the soil after I pull garlic out for harvest.
This is what brought me to your channel as I’ve just ordered a Rhino greenhouse (yaaay!) I love your slim shelves, but noticed on their website that they’re designed for the gable end only, but you have them on the eaves too…might have to check their website again!
Great video - thanks for all the great tips :)
To be honest I’m not a massive fan of them.
They are really finicky to fit and almost impossible to keep level 😩
I need to do this - thanks for giving me a method!
What kind of disinfectant is for greenhouses? This is something new to me.
You don’t have to buy specific greenhouse disinfectant, just any you’d use in the house can be used in the greenhouse. The most common one is Jeyes Fluid.
You’ve just made me add “deep clean greenhouse” to my list. Thinking my feeble flick over with a hose and rag won’t suffice now. 🤣
Oh no…. Sorry.
But maybe it’ll be a fab thing and you’ll love the feeling of your super clean greenhouse? 😛
@@eliandkate it will.. until then I’ll just procrastinate a bit longer 😜
You should get Kate to build some staging like the ones you are using then sell them on your channel store.
There is actually a company already doing this, link is in the video description 😁
Thank you for putting this video together. Question? Would it be better to start with the garlic candle then clean up what it has killed
You could give it a go… my thoughts were that by cleaning first meant you’d already dealt with a lot of the issues, but defo give it a try and see
Good point. Keep up the good work. Regards to both
Good tip with the plant label between the glass. I can never get between there so will give that a go
So many difficult to clean spots! 😁😁😁
Oh dear, looks like some work waiting out there for me!
Skipped it last year 🙈...
Oh no… two years worth of dirt
Thanks Eli. Interesting about the garlic candle! X
Defo… being able to use it with plants in there is a game changer
Hi Eli & Kate, really good job on cleaning your greenhouse with plenty of good advice too. I have a polytunnel & kbow I Nedd to do mine as I had a lot of bugs last season so, shall be taking your advice. Thanks for sharing and take care 😊
You can get cleaner for your poly tunnel skin that takes all the algae off
Can’t remember it’s name but seen a lot of folk rave about it
Your olive is a tardis!! It’s always amazing how much you can squeeze into a small space eh
Probably why it’s needs tidied up so often 😂😂😂
@@eliandkate I won’t show you mine…..
Would it be OK you do the garlic candle before the big clean up
Someone else just asked this…. You could give it a go… I just think the results are better this way
Well done Eli! That's abig job. It hasn't stopped raining down here in south of England long enough to get out and do my winter prep. All the fields in my area are under water. Half the roads were impassable last week. So I've been hibernating until the flood waters recede. It's due to rain most of this week too, so I am not holding my breath. Might buy a canoe for Christmas.
Maybe swap the greenhouse for an ark!!
Have you tried putting a space heater in the greenhouse and turning it on with the door cracked to help dry it out after washing it? I wonder if a dry heat like that would be a good way to really dry it out, but I don't know if that is bad for greenhouses!
We actually have used a wee fan heater to help dry it quicker. It doesn’t have to be bone dry, just enough so that we can get it set up again with our lots of drips.
@@eliandkate that's good to know!! I just got my first small greenhouse (more like a green closet). It might be awhile before I need to deep clean it but I've got some good pointers now thanks to you!
I ordered the garlic smoke candle off your Amazon page, and it arrived in a padded envelope marked "URGENT - LIVING CREATURES - HANDLE WITH CARE" - I'm frightened of opening the packaging now in case they've sent me extra creepy crawlies to prove it works 😂😂
What???? Hmmm I’m intrigues now…. Mine don’t come like that!!!!
@@eliandkate 🤣
looking for my green house , should be ordered soon. I know its a bit OTT but could you not use a non toxic traffic removal foam to remove the wee nasties and give it a clean at some time and then spray down with a karcher ??
A hose fed window cleaning brush and pole would be good to as a nice brush head.
Not sure what traffic removal foam is I’m afraid. Some folk seem to use jet sprays on their greenhouses, would just depend on your greenhouse and if could cope with that I suppose.
@@eliandkate Afternoon, Plenty of water on the way this week!!! TFR is a car cleaning degreaser and film remover. can be caustic or not.
Hey Eli, for those of us that are time zone challenged, this Thursday you have a Live video coming up that I would love to listen to! I have seen 3PM and 8PM listed as times to be there. Now for me, your home is 5 hours ahead from my home. So the times kind of make sense……however…… could you clarify what time is when you are going to sit down in your world and I can figure (and so can others) what time to sit down in my world!
Did I make that paragraph confusing enough for everyone else???? 😂
Darn, I meant for this comment to be attached to your January 21st post. Sorry sorry sorry!
Ha Ha ha that’s ok I got it so all good
Ok so it’s 8pm my time so the 3pm you have seen sounds like that’s your time?
Great info there, most helpful. Can I ask where you sourced your apple trees and are you happy with the quality?
They are from a local supplier, absolutely love them
Great video, Eli. Defo need to clean mine, as had so many nasties this year. My 3 pepper plants were ravaged by insects! Had never heard of garlic smoke candle before. Wonder if it can be used when crops are in, such as, in the summer months, when pest level is at its highest?
Yup you can use it with all the plants in there’s says it doesn’t affect flavour 😀
🧄🧄🧄I love the garlic candle idea for getting rid of aphids and white flies! However, when I tried finding them here in the U.S. I couldn't. Do you have a link to where you got them?
I always have links in the video description
Check out my Amazon page, that might help direct you to a local source
Great job on all the cleaning. I did a little today myself, but not a deep clean. I may try that garlic candle trick. Did you find the pack of labels after you went through everything?
We did…. They were in between to trays
😮
Another excellent video. You're getting better and better!
I love the attention to detail, the clear explanations. The videos are well organized. I can see the care and planning that you put into them. I think you must be killer-diller at your job as well. I just might get an inferiority complex if I keep watching, but it will be worth it!
Why on earth would you get an inferiority complex? Oh no, that’s not the point…. I was hoping to entertain and inspire… I’m obvs doing it wrong 😍😍😍
What is the brand of garlic candle? I’m looking in the USA.
If you check the links in the description Sheri, I’ve added it to our Amazon page.
@ I did but I’m not seeing it
@@ChickGardener it says links to tools and gadgets
@ I did click that and all the links in there and don’t see a candle. It’s okay. I’ll find one somewhere.
Brilliant video as always ... do you always clean it out in November ?
Do you do a mini clean again in February/March or do you find the 1 clean is enough ?
The Garlic candle was great ... really interested to see if it works well 😊😊😊 xx
We actually usually do it in January but we’ve agreed we prefer November… it’s not nearly as cold as January 😂😂😂
We do one deep clean a year but usually do at least another clean ( not disinfectant etc)
Thanks very much that's really helpful xx
