Excellent video. Well informed. One lesson i learnt about my leather pants/jeans ...better to have them made...better fit, and cheaper than one might think. 11 years and 12 pairs later, still addicted to the look, the feel, the crunch, the color and shade by day and night. My passion about which my wardrobe revolves. For me personally: Bootcut with a pair of Newrock boots. Black (jacket) leather on leather, yes. Brown on black, yes...even oxblood. Brown on brown...nooo. A lot of the time it's about sleek subdued contrast. Wool with leather, amazing. Toning down a color with fabric paint a nice twist also. 'Napa leather is ok, but a tad flimsy, so I prefer the tougher hide. And lastly, the more warn in, the better. The magic of leather: Leather doesn't know it's DEAD. Guys, you gotta have balls and a passion to wear leather pants, and own the look.
I sometimes wear them to work or freetime, it suits my personal style well (always in black, boots, tall athletic frame, shaved head and short beard)... never got any shit for it or even weird looks. A few compliments here and there and ppl asking me where to buy... With leather pants, I think it HIGHLY depends on the detailed circumstances how they are perceeived. If they naturally blend into yout style, it's really a nothing-burger. Also on the exact type of pants: tightness, gloss-level, draping-mechanics (mainly dependent on thickness of the leather and the fit)... But if you show up with a colorful flannel shirt, neatly combed hear, glasses, white sneakers and black tight shiny cow-hide pants, it will draw a lot of (the wrong) attention. Because it's so disruptive visually. The draping is also quite key: if the fit is too tight, you look like judas priest, if the fit is too relaxed and the leather is rather thin, it looks like you are wearing trashbags. So yeah, leather pants are "tricky" but 1000% worth the trouble of finding a pair that really fits you well, style and fit wise. Another note: since 2022 (and now 2023) H&M and Zara are selling both REAL and pleather pants for men and also really campaigning for it. There are mannequins wearing them in their main windows. So I guess it's becoming "a thing" (again). But also, I think in the past years styles started to spiral in so many directions, that people are kinda chill with whatever you do in genereal. So for me it doesn't really matter if it becomes "a thing".
Leather pants , faux leather pants, leather bermuda shorts it's my favorite outfit with, converse, adidas and sandals in summer....people think: he's gay, girls are splitted into: wow and bleah. Fantastic! leather pants act as social splitter. They save your time in relationships.
You made me laugh, remembering the day at a party when a girl asked me whether my cowhide shorts were real leather. Rather than simply answer, I casually told her to use them to stub her cigarette out and find out for herself. I still remember the moment when her cigarette was finished and she muttered something about finding a hard area of he leather to stub it out. Needless to say, I did not complain when she took her time rubbing the ash off with her hands, 😊 She later told me that it was her friend who told her that she was wasting her time looking at me because I must be gay, so she decided to find out for herself. Have you ever had a girl teasing you, assuming that you are gay.?
I am wearing leather pants and I am feeling really comfortable when doing this. Nowadays, there are some biases concerning men wearing leather pants and I don't understand why. I have more energy when putting on leather pants than the usual jeans. Indeed, the leather pants are made for slim fit men, not for the ones over weighted, but this might be a reason to keep ourselves fit. In general, the men are wearing either blue jeans or suits, but first of all we have to consider our mood. If one is happy with wearing leather pants, just do this, don't take into account the other's opinions.
Exactly and that is why I buy leather pants that fit tight in the beginning because they will shape to the body as they stretch in the first few wears..
Have you ever let a guy use your leather pants to ash and stub his cigarette out when their are no ashtrays at party.? Mine are cowhide and some guys seem amazed that it does not even leave a mark on the leather.
It only failed because they made the jeans in so many colours, including bright yellow and no one bought them. If they had stuck to black and a few browns, they would still be selling them today.
Agreed with what you said at the end there: Keep the rest of the wardrobe simple, get very skinny pants. I'd recommend high quality black pleather pants instead of real leather. Definitely cheaper, but also pleather pants stretch, so they're more comfortable and it seems like because of the materials involved (bicast leather and polyurethane) you're more likely to find ones that are actually form-fitting. I wear mine all the time now, because they're sexy (Chuck Klosterman probably agrees) and I got bored with feeling uncomfortable with it. Do what you want.
You're probably right tobb - most of the leather pants I come across in my travels are either not the right cut or they don't look like they would be comfortable at all bc leather has some give but it's not as stretchy as synthetic materials.
Pleather is not the best fabric for smoking, particularly when a horny guy at a party decides to crush his cigarette out on the crotch of your jeans. LMAO. PS, All my jeans are heavy cowhide,!!!!!!!!!
don't care what the world thinks about men in leather pant's, I wear my leathers day and night 24/7 in public again everybody has there own opinion about clothes this is me and only me like it or not I love my leathers and proud of them so sorry people you wear what you want and for me I want my leathers-period.......
that's telling them !!! . you keep on wearing your leathers. if leather is what you feel like wearing go for it. people are wearing. swades. wools.silks. satin. cotton. polyesters. casemer. so on and so forth . different strokes for different folks.in other words you do you. don't stop wearing leather .if you was to stop. wearing leather .let it be something that you decide to do .not because of of what others think or how they feel. I do agree with you 1000 percent wear wear your leathers 🙂🙂
Hi Cal, thanks a lot for this video, you have confirmed and thus helped me immensely! I am a teacher, 67, rather slim and I still wear my black leather. I have never been given any negative comments, it seems to suit me. However, you are absolutely right: One should simply not overdo it, wearing your leather according to the situation. As you say, a leather jacket accomplished with leather gloves is always possible. Like me, enjoy the wonderful arousing feelig wearing leather, and: stay in good health! Best wishes from Switzerland! @@ericpearson3156 You could wear leather pants that have a matte finish rather than shiny. Nubuck leather or suede are good choices. Also, brown or tan will not be as eye catching. The only real way to get over self-consciousness is to just do it and forget about what others may think or say. BTW, don't look in retail stores for men's leather pants. They just aren't sold there anymore. Online is your best bet.
I ended up buying a pair of leather pants from this metal punk store in hollywood. Its a pair of real leather vintage pants that old guys with motorcycles would wear with a really bad fit so I got someone to add zippers on the side of the cuffs and little prongs near the pockets and now Im having them tailored to my fitting.. total cost was $360 for real leather with lining and all the custom details i wanted.. way better to do it this way than to spend 1000+
Nothing weird about men in leather pants, other than that some blokes just don't know how to walk and move in them and look a bit funny. But weird? Dont know why.
Technically jeans are pants made from a jean fabric, which is a heavy twill cloth made of cotton, sometime with a small percentage of wool. While denim is similar, as it became popular, people just just called denim jeans 'jeans'. As time went on, pants made from denim mixed with other fabrics such as Lycra were still called 'jeans'. These days, even fully synthetic pant are called jeans when the fabric looks like denim. Technically leather jeans should be called "Jeans style leather pants", but that is a bit of a mouthful. 😊😊😊
I put my 1st black leather pants, and biker jacket on at 15, both by Vanson, with Wesco engineer boots. the outfit came with the Harley I bought, the leather moved with me, fit perfect and felt so good it was a week before I took them off. I have about 50 pair of leather pants, different color and cut, although most fit like Levi's or Wranglers. Ive been in leather nearly every day of my life and don;t regret a second of it. I've traveled all of Mexico, the 48 connected states, Canada, and part of Alaska. all in leather, some on bikes, but more in my convertibles/ The only place there were derogatory comments was the south in the 60's 90% of women loved the pants, and 90% of the men wanted to be in them. Lambskin feels incredible but it's not for riding. I live in California, so hardly anyone pays attention, other than a future leatherman that wants to know what they are like. Try leather, check CAL RIDER on you tube, like his Instagram too. Oh, also have a dozen leather jackets and shirts, but gave that many away to newbies, usually wear boots or leather high tops, I'm 70, told I LOOK 50 or less, still livin' life, livin in leather.
I am the same (roughly the same age as well). Here in the UK, a few guys started off assuming that I was gay, but I am not homophobic and a few of them have ended up as sincere long term friends. Jane and I were invited to the wedding when one guy married his boyfriend. Needless to say, we both wore leather and we had a great time.
I was hetero in my teens, but kept picking insane girlfriends, ended up engaged to one, had to break it off with her fathers blessing, she did suicide, head trip for me followed by a near fatal accident for me took months to walk again was so screwed mentally started touring country hoping to find peace. Met a guy while traveling, he'd been through trauma and got me through mine, fell deeply in love with him, became Bi, we had 4 1/2 months together before his car was hit by a semi truck, he died in my arms. Still have PTSD, but found a woman that was good crazy for 47 years, blessed with a son, have friends gay straight and other, at 71 still thankful to have my son and friends, his mom died recently, seems most I know wear leather, i always will, and have my gear picked for burial, although there is longevity in our family and probably have 24-25 years left. Have friends in the U. K. hope to tour it sometime with my son.
You have had some rough times and know the value of friendship. I have never had a gay sexual relationship, but that has never prevented me from having sincere and lasting friendships with other guys. We have a daughter who is in a same sex marriage and it does not bother me in the slightest. I have absolutely know time for people who are homophobic or have any type of prejudice towards others. Hopefully you will visit the UK someday, but you need to spend some time here in order to appreciate the country and meet some real people. I would suggest 6 weeks minimum. One piece of advice from a Londoner. Do not stay in central London. Places like Putney and Wimbledon (where we live) are ideal and only 15 minutes from the center by train. Accommodation is a fraction of the price and their are plenty or reasonably priced restaurants to enjoy a relaxed meal in the evening, before taking a stroll along the river or on the common. Many peoples visits are marred by the price and hassle of staying in the city center, where it is often difficult to find anyone who speaks English.
Larry I’m with you I love to wear leather every day pants ,shorts and shirts! I’m 54 and have worn leather since I was 15. I have 35 to 40 pair of leather pants in all colours in my collection and still adding.I wore a black leather suit for my sons wedding this fall everyone loved it. No one was surprised I figure wear what you like and if it happens to be leather fantastic! I own and operate an Antique shop everyone that comes in knows me as the leather guy. I think more guys should try on some leather they may really love it to. Thanks for all the other comments.
Biggest problem of leather pants is that one wrong move - and you look either like you are from Matrix, from Tom of Finland pictures or from a shitty metal band. IMO, to wear them one should choose other things to really tone leather pants down
Whats actually wrong with men with leather (look) pants? We can wear this if we want without being gay or a diehard biker. I find it a great look for men. Aslong you make a good style its perfect.
I just love teasing girls who assume that I am gay. It is amazing how far some girls will go before they discover the truth, including one girl (she was quite drunk) who lifted up her skirt in her attempts to disgust me. LMAO.
I am 34, been wearing leather and latex since I was 15 when GAP did their "EVERYONE IN LEATHER" campaign and being gay, trust me my friends mostly female all get turned on by it! You have to be able to pull it off. Straight men I always catch peeking. twitter.com/home
So I have friends who have told me they they love my faux leather Zara jeans, so maybe it just depends on if you have awesome friends or not? Honestly sounds like the guy you quoted is projecting, and is just worried he'd have no friends if he dared to wear something controversial.
Lol, yeah Klosterman is / was a music journalism but he's written a lot about the culture revolving around rock and roll and hip hop. I think as someone who doesn't really "get" fashion he thinks of leather pants as one of the most out there fashion moves that often backfires.
@@BraveNewWear Maybe I was a bit sassy, I think it's just the "must not have friends part" that came off a little bitchy. I think when it comes to men in leather pants it seems to depend more on who's wearing them, since there are performers who are/were adored and wore leather pants. Of course some places the culture makes men in leather pants perfectly normal (like Germany), whereas others (like the US) adopted a different view, exacerbated by media and such. A lot of it does seem to come down to attitude.

The models wore the "high waist-ed" leather pants wrong. They are more appropriately "low crotch". Not too low, if the fit is right. This facilitates siting, as on a motorcycle, or on a chair, such as dress slacks. It's comfort for men. Skinny leg pants need a constricting crotch for lateral leg movement because the leg does not slide through them as easily. But lateral movement is more free with a wider leg cut, like karate kimono pants. And the crotch an be lower. Also, shoes are important for leather pants, depending on the wide or narrow cut and thickness of leather. Serious biker pants require boots.Thinner leather pants, leg tight, can be worn tucked in boots, or with sport shoes or any dress shoes. Extra length can be rolled up, like jeans, especially with slender leg cut. This is entirely ok. Last, leather pants do NOT require additional leather garments, such as jackets or coats. Cloth jackets and coats are awesome with leather pants.
I find it sadly that leather(look)/vinyl/pvc etc pants/leggings arent really accepted for men too. I dont know why it makes a man gay for wearing leather. Its accepted for women and they arent lesbian. I like wearing such pants without any gay meaning behind it. I wish it gets more encouraged for men too to wear leather/vinyl clothing.
When I started wearing leather jeans, it was obvious that since they are popular in the gay community I was going to get some attention. Rather than avoid walking past the local gay bar, I just casually mentioned to anyone who commented that my girlfriend likes me wearing them. Within a few weeks, the word got around and although I still got a few light hearted comments it was never a problem. Most of the guys were happy to just smile and say hello knowing the situation and some of them enjoyed chatting to me as a fellow leather wearer and no more, they are not freaks or monsters. The old saying "never judge a book by it's cover" springs to mind. Unless you are seriously homophobic, (something that I can never understand), wearing leather jeans around town will never be a problem.

I prefer them to be very sturdy & not tight-fitting at all, like heavy denim work pants ... maybe I was born to be a blacksmith or a carpenter. Then there were the German U-boat crews, who had to wear a single leather jacket & pants uniform for months at a time. Those U-boats must've been really hard on the nose after a long bout at sea :(
I agree, Leather pants are meant to be tough and protective. I started wearing cowhide jeans when we were stubble burning to save having to slap my Levi's out with my hands when they caught alight and the leather has withstood stomping through knee high flames a few times. Has fire or cigarettes ever damaged your leather pants.? PS, A few months ago, I saw a guy at a party use his pleather pants to stub his cigarette out when their were no ashtrays. It was hard not to laugh when they melted into a hole and burnt his leg.

Rather than simply answer, I casually told her to use them to stub her cigarette out and find out for herself.
I still remember the moment when her cigarette was finished and she muttered something about finding a hard area of he leather to stub it out. Needless to say, I did not complain when she took her time rubbing the ash off with her hands, 😊
She later told me that it was her friend who told her that she was wasting her time looking at me because I must be gay, so she decided to find out for herself.
I wear leather pants a lot and they fit like your fav pair of jeans...
For sure, like a lot of organic materials leather does a great job of molding itself over time to ur body
What jacket is that that you’re wearing?
The Gap 1999 Leather campaign really simplified the leather look. It made it more common and simple
Tobb Jeffry real is better
@@asadata8285 Where'd you get yours? And are they skinny, like cigarettes?
Pleather is not the best fabric for smoking, particularly when a horny guy at a party decides to crush his cigarette out on the crotch of your jeans. LMAO.
PS, All my jeans are heavy cowhide,!!!!!!!!!
Real leather breaths better though.
Great video, I wear leather pants all the time and have been for year. Love how they look and feel.
don't care what the world thinks about men in leather pant's, I wear my leathers day and night 24/7 in public again everybody has there own opinion about clothes this is me and only me like it or not I love my leathers and proud of them so sorry people you wear what you want and for me I want my leathers-period.......
that's telling them !!! . you keep on wearing your leathers. if leather is what you feel like wearing go for it. people are wearing. swades. wools.silks. satin. cotton. polyesters. casemer. so on and so forth . different strokes for different folks.in other words you do you. don't stop wearing leather .if you was to stop. wearing leather .let it be something that you decide to do .not because of of what others think or how they feel. I do agree with you 1000 percent
wear wear your leathers
🙂🙂
hey I know this is kinda late but what jacket are you wearing in this vid?
@denmarkbykristian is really cool, someone who posts a bunch of outfits they like
ToyFiretruck yer!
I hope so... I already wear them, and love so much
Hi Cal, thanks a lot for this video, you have confirmed and thus helped me immensely!

Can you give me any advice to feel comfortable wearing leather pants in public and not feel self conscious?
@@ericpearson3156 You could wear leather pants that have a matte finish rather than shiny. Nubuck leather or suede are good choices. Also, brown or tan will not be as eye catching. The only real way to get over self-consciousness is to just do it and forget about what others may think or say. BTW, don't look in retail stores for men's leather pants. They just aren't sold there anymore. Online is your best bet.
I hope you managed to get a pair. Love this vid!
Yeah I want that too for myself! Every guy should get one except for rapist criminals!!!!!
I’ve always got my eyes peeled if I see the right pair (for the right price) I’ll jump on it.
@@BraveNewWear Me, I gotta wait until I get a career.
Can “leather” be “jeans”?
I'm with you, there Larry...
Thanks for all the other comments.
any brands anyone recommends for leather pants
Biggest problem of leather pants is that one wrong move - and you look either like you are from Matrix, from Tom of Finland pictures or from a shitty metal band. IMO, to wear them one should choose other things to really tone leather pants down
Hi I have worn leathers for years I am a biker I wear it on and off the bike it makes me feel great simon
Is that in the UK? So few of us guys here wear full leather
Do you rock n roll? Yes? Then you wear leather pants.
Where can I get some good leather pants? Like what website?
leather joggers is a must
Greetings from Montreal Canada 😁 have a nice day fam love your vids
Greetings from New York! Glad you’re enjoying the videos all the way from the cold north
Whats actually wrong with men with leather (look) pants? We can wear this if we want without being gay or a diehard biker. I find it a great look for men. Aslong you make a good style its perfect.
Yeah I think it can be a rocker chic look but you don’t have to be a “die hard” anything it can just be a cool change up in your wardrove
I just love teasing girls who assume that I am gay. It is amazing how far some girls will go before they discover the truth, including one girl (she was quite drunk) who lifted up her skirt in her attempts to disgust me. LMAO.
I follow karenbritchick, Alyssa Beltempo, Trinny London, and Haute LaMode, to name just a few.
Great review!
Appreciate it dude! Trying my best out here I’m glad you enjoyed the video
@@FauxLeatherFriend Im hetero guy and im wearing all kinds of shiny clothes, I dont like real leather so synthetic or faux leather is my option, vinyl and latex is a must in my wardrobe. And yes, im wearing it in a public and i really dont give a shit what will others say about my new fashion.. Im addicted to shiny clothes and enjoying it as much as possible. I have friends who accepted my new fashion and there are also haters. Haters will gonna hate no matter what are u doing. SO MY FRIENDS, LIVE UR LIFE AND ENJOY IN EVERY MOMENT U CAN, BECAUSE LIFE IS TOO SHORT TO THINK ABOUT SOMEONE ELSES OPINION. AS I SAID, HATERS WILL GONNA HATE, NO MATTER WHAT. CHEERS.
@@FauxLeatherFriend In Germany are Leatherpants not normaly. Only in Muinch to Oktoberfest. Otherwise Looks the Peopole in Germany very strange or whispering if a men wear a Leatherpants. I Live in Germany but I see nerver a Men in Leatherpants and if you wear in Germany Leatherpants think a lot of People you are Gay. thats fallacy
@@michal.b871 If man in leather pants is a gay than, women who wear leather clothes are or whores or lesbians. Use logic and dont listen others what you can and what you cannot. I wearing whatever i want.
Super
I'm 13 and I want to wear this bruh
Anyone here in 2022 where leather pants are trending
Unless you are seriously homophobic, (something that I can never understand), wearing leather jeans around town will never be a problem.
you know what if a person want to wear leather .do so please .leather don't make any man gay.
just like wool. or cotton or lennon or silk .don't make any man gay. A BIG NO. in capitals . if leather is your thing wear it so munch going on in this world . to think about how mens looks wearing leathers.if any man wears leather .so be it please leave these men alone.I don't care

Why not? Why wear only Woman Leatherpants and Mens never? I love my Leatherpants but i never see outdoor a men in Leatherpants. Iàm everytime Only Outdoor in my Leatherpants and i hope so much more Mens wear in future Leatherpants like in the 80s.
Fashion always comes back - I bet if more celebrities like playboi wear leather pants it will come back. Sometimes we just need role models for bolder fashion choices
i think this Leatherpants trend don't come back. Times like 80s a over. This time is a another time. In my Home City wear Mens joggingpant or Bluejeans. Leatherpants are frowned upon. I wish so much i see in future a lot of Mens in Leatherpants but i can not imagine.

Do black men wear leather pants do they I want to know are they exclude d

Opinions are like nose hair: everyone has some. I don't worry about people's nose hair. I have only two pairs of denim jeans and the rest are leather: black, brown, gray, red, stupid tight, lace-up fly (my favourites) . NO PLEATS. Pleats are evil. I basically wear them like you suggested you would near the end of the vid.
