I have to thank you so much. I have watched Dan’s cover of this song many, many times along, with every single one of his 250+ covers, the main focus being for the pleasure of his incredible voice, his musical genius and his performance. Notwithstanding he is not hard on the eye, even for an old bird like me. This time, my delight and appreciation has risen to a whole different level because, listening to your reactions, I have, for the first time, really understood the story and the history behind the song. The way you present your reaction to these songs has given me such a deeper appreciation. Again, sincere thanks. Demi.
I’m so glad that you enjoy the reactions , I do try to add a little of what I have learned what I think or know 😊 it’s rewarding to know that it adds a little value 😊 thank you show much for sharing your experience
What I really like about this song is, that Dan incorporates the drill instructor attitude so well, exaggerating it enough to be a lot of fun to watch, taking the song serious without taking himself all to serious
@@marchen-strau4562 yes, the gaming shows seem to transport him, and other players as well, back into 14-year-olds whose parents have just left them alone for the first time. lol
Dan is a singer/performer of note!❤❤ He excels in both areas and makes for the best listening/watching pleasure. Dan is well on the way to 1M subscribers 951k today 4th Feb '23. Let's go Vasc Nation. Thankyou for your thoughts. Looking forward to more Dan reactions, thankyou😃
Thank you for this great reaction and your insightful thoughts! The things I really enjoy about Dan (besides his phenomenal singing skills of course) are: 1. The way he enunciates his words. Always so clear, so precise. I usually listen to the lyrics much more when he performs the songs. 2. The fact that, when the song is coupled with a particular character, Dan BECOMES that character. You saw that in Gethsamane and again in this song. One other cover where this second point really shines through (there are more) is his rendition of “the Music of the Night” from the Phantom of the Opera. Dan portrays the duality of the Phantom so very well! I hope to see more Dan reactions in the future, thanks for this one! ❤️
Helma, first of all , thank you for your kind words and astute insights , to their being more Dan reactions .. well , comments and guidance and genuine kindness today means I’m very glad that I will be exploring for quite some time yet 😊 oh and go check on my channel for my reaction to Henk Poort and Floor Jansen .. it was early days but I loved the music they made 😊
Loved your Reaction to Dan! Another Great Manly Cover he does is the song from the series Vikings, My mother told me, if you haven't seen it already I think you'll Love it!
This song reminds us how versatile Dan's vocal skills are. He can weave stories with his convincing performances. I don't believe there is an artist this day and age that can do this at the moment besides him. Before I start a war, we all have our favorites. Always great reactions, Alan. ❤
@1:50 your right he was amazing. Normally I compare covers to the original and think what this best but these are two different animals and both are amazing.
My favorite singer is back at the start 🤘👍. I love every single song by him. Whether with metal or little to no metal. See you soon and then maybe with a lot of metal - AC/DC cover "Highway To Hell" or no metal - Phantom of the Opera cover "The Music of the Night". I look forward to every reaction from Dan ❤️
Kristina 😊I’m intrigued so I will be hoping to enjoy making many more reactions and I’m only 3 in 😊 metal will most definitely get attention as I’m a metal fan ( along with many genres) see you the other side 😎👍
Dan just seems to embody the Drill Instructor so well.. never watched the film, In my 70's so was a little young for me lol.. I have of course seen this clip from the film many times, got grandkids... Dan puts the passion into it, which I think was missing from the original.. Mulan takes him up on the challenge and succeeds beyond expectation... the folklore, shall we say, was seen to be done... I would certainly follow Dan into battle over Donny Osmond for sure.. but Donny was right for a children's film.. now those kids of the '90's have grown up and Dan's version is perfect for them still.. they get it... I don't do politics, or all the 'other things'. Like you have said it's music we are here for. Great reaction from you of course... Dan does what Dan does, brilliantly, and to bring in Skar and all the others for the cameos was brilliant.. loved it.
I always enjoy your commentary. I think myself that Dan sings this beautifully, but very straightforwardly. It’s ironic in the context of the film, but it’s not ironic from the point of view of the character at this point. Very well sung - that last metal whistle scream is stratospheric! And I loved that he brought in fellow RUclipsrs to sing the cameos. Thanks for reacting to Dan once more. Burn Butcher Burn is a little gem of singing and acting, and in this case I think he does illuminate the character’s psychology better than the original scene in The Witcher did.
I like your take on things. I don't remember whether I heard Dan say or whether it was a post of his - that to him metal meant freedom. I say Dan makes metal fun. It also pumps you up. "Bring Me To Life" (Evanescence) and "Burn Butcher Burn" (from the Netflix series) are both must listens.
Loved everything you had to say about this! I enjoyed listening to your thoughts and your reactions throughout the video. I really enjoy listening to Dan! All his covers, to my ears are magnificent. I really like his covers of female artists. Listening to those songs from a male perspective makes them new again, at least to me. Thanks for the great review and until next one….🎶🎶
really enjoyed your reaction. love how you bring such straight on analysis and perspective to a performance. my pet peeve is reactors who have not taken the time to listen to the original song if they are not familiar with it, or even read the description to be able to portray accurate info. your historical references and sensitivity to nuance is so refreshing and much desired over the oohs and aahs which are all some others have to offer. thanks and hope to see you often.
I think thier are some great analysts and generally good thier musicians .. wings of Pegasus , Justin Hawkins to name but 2 , I try to give as much effort to what I’m doing in most aspects of my life .. except avoiding chocolate 🥴 but joking aside .. thank you for your very kind words it really means a lot 😊
He took this song from a movie about a woman who becomes the ultimate warrior and makes a song that celebrates manhood. His use of those three metal screams with the last one in the stratophere.
He does some amazing female covers. And some songs fro the Witcher series. His Sleeping Sun which is very little metal is gorgeous. and My immortal is just beautiful. For a banging good time evanescence cover Bring me to Life is a wild , wild ride. I had no idea a human voice could sound like that and still sound wonderful. I’m hooked. He could do the phone book and I’d download it!
I enjoyed watching you enjoy the song as much as i enjoyed watching the song. How cute is that gal for thinking she could fool her drill sgt. Certainly not foolin our sgt Dan, anyway. More Dan please!
Found this today and have looked at other Dan reactions on your channel (as well as others). Hoping for more Dan (of course) but enjoy your perspicacious observations and analysis of each artist's performance. Re: Dan: no time right now to look through comments in your other reactions, but if no one has suggested Dan's O Holy Night which was dropped recently, please react to it. It's a little past Christmas but you won't regret it. Am liking and subbing to your channel 👍.
I’m always so grateful and genuinely happy when good people ( music lovers ) enjoy what I’m trying to do 😊 I’ve been graciously given a list to compile for use ( songs by Dan) gladly adding O holy night , I don’t think a single stops bring relevant if it’s seasonal , perhaps a little less poignant but I’m adding it 😊 and very glad you’ve trusted me with your time via subscribing, welcome 🙏🏻
I absolutely love Dan's music and will listen to and enjoy everything he produces but I think his version of this, is more towards making this as masculine as possible. If you've ever heard him talk candidly on podcasts and such, it's abundantly clear he's pretty chauvinistic. As a woman, it's a bit cringy when I hear him say things like that, but it doesn't make me not want to listen to his music. He's entitled to his thoughts. Thank you so much for your really insightful analyses. I especially enjoy when you provide background on songs. Looking forward to more of your reactions.

Metal is for everyone with the right attitude and taste in music. Metal started from influences such as Led Zeppelin & Black Sabbath and carried through with mostly male singers/bands until more recently where there have been more women who have proven that they can give that metal vibe that long time metalheads have enjoyed; power is what I usually get from metal. If you're talking about men hitting those high notes that are easier for women, then you should go back and listen to groups like Queensryche, White Snake, Poison, Ratt, etc... all a bunch of bands that I used to joke about the singers having their nuts in a vice to reach those notes. Anywho, enough of that! Dan's version of this song is second to none. I haven't heard anyone encapsulate the song better than Dan. Thanks for the reaction.
I can see why it sounds confusing , I’m mid sentence and I’m not saying that 😊 I’m saying that metal like war is not just for men , it’s a slip of the tounge and it doesn’t fit , with what I say in the sentence .. I go on to talk about all the women metal heads on the channel , it was just that 🥴

It was a pleasure 😎🤩
one of the most compellling contradictions in dan; how he takes his craft so seriously while maintaining his playful self.
Yeah, similar with his "stage-self" versus him on gamer shows or interviews, sometimes like two different man
