+Marcus Guiliano thanks for your kind comments. Congrats on your purchase. Did you format your SD card on your camera before starting your shooting? It has to be formatted with the camera. Just checking.
Best camera review channel so far! No other channel review the settings this deep! Of course we buyers want to see how far the camera can take manual settings before buying. Especially the basic settings. Good job, keep it up! Subscribed.
Excellent tutorial. Very simple and refined info, yet every important detail is covered. I just bought one & can't believe this camera is still the best prosumer camcorder for the price - almost 2 years after it was released!!!
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS REVIEW! I'm getting this camera too, not sure if there's a newer model, but I have been looking at this camera for 2 months now. This review really did it for me. I'm getting it next month. Thanks so much for your review, it helped me to make a clearer decision.

Hi Roslan thanks for your kind comments. It’s nice to know another fellow Steadicam op. I would highly recommend the AX700 which is a great upgrade to the AX100. The AX700 has faster and more accurate focusing, dual memory card slots and other better features. Keep it Steadi!

+WolFang Digital I'm guessing you have the older K1M with the active shoe, and not the model with the multi shoe? I'd suggest getting the newer model K2M, it works only with A7/RX/CX/AX camera models, but it's very good quality and perfect for your kind of work.

Thank you for this. Can I take the SD card from the camcorder and put it into the SD slot on a 4K TV to watch what I have recorded or do I still need that USB 3 hard disk?
Hi Lexi fan, thank you for your kind review. Yes, you can take the SD card from your AX100 Handycam and view the footage on a 4K TV. You don't need a hard disk for this.
Is that attachment to attach the Rode Videomic Pro the only one available as i would like to have it closer to the Camera Body. Have you used the 18X Clear View Zoom yet id like to see what its like.
Hi Mike, thanks for watching and your kind review! SteadyShot can be kept on but I don't recommend it on gimbals as it's counterintuitive to the gimbal's stabilisation process. Active SteadyShot of the AX100 DOES NOT reduce quality because it's an optically (meaning mechanical) stabilisation. For slower jobs on tripods (like recording concerts and seminars) some folks may not like Steadyshot on at all times because when they do a pan or tilt, the lens may take some time to follow the camera's movements.
love mine as well, but i wish SONY would get on board with a STANDARD hot (cold) shoe standard. Any additional mike has to have an adapter to fit in the small shoe on the camera.
Hi Mark, if you're just shooting HD then a Class 10 SDHC card will be fine. If you're shooting in 4K, get a U3 Class 10 SDXC card. As for more info of each card, check out my tutorial at 00:07:28 ruclips.net/video/1633XcfNSM4/видео.html
+Chris Chris on your AX100 LCD screen click on the Menu, click on Camera/Mic, click Camera Settings icon, click Steadyshot, set to Active. All the best :)
Question for ya'll, I have a question about shooting a recording and/ or HDMI output of the camera while externally powered. Can this be done with this camera? I currently have a Sony CX-405. On fatal flaw of my camcorder is that it will not allow record or HDMI viewing through the CCD (aka the camera itself) while connected over USB to a computer. Its sole external power comes from over USB. It works great over battery power. However, if I am indoors with good electricity then I would like to use that power to go longer than the battery would otherwise allow. What would be great is if I can externally power the AX100 while shooting for either plain record or stream while my HDMI port is connected to a capture device and computer running its streaming software. Is this possible?
Hi Ubi Quitious, I have personally used the AX100 and AX700 to broadcast to a monitor and still maintain visual on their LCD. With the AX700, I am using it for livestreaming. While the livestream is going on, I use the LCD to monitor my shots. So, yes both cameras can send the video feed to an external monitor/livestream while simultaneously viewed through their LCD. My camera looks different - where did you get the touch screen functions you use - for example the spot focus?
If it's the same model, it should be the same menu. SPOT FOCUS: Menu -> Camera / Mic -> Manual Settings -> Spot Focus
nice tutorial thank you sir

+Louis Tuấn Lê we are happy that you like it. Thank you!
Have you used the 18X Clear View Zoom yet id like to see what its like.
nice & awesome👍👍👍
Thanks bro 🙏😀🙏
Thank you, this is really helpful.
You're welcome, Dean... glad we can be of help to you!

when recording in full HD or 4k used external monitor turns off?? I've heard that, is it true? Or is there a setting for that
can you use manual zoom ring on this camera? if so would it be faster then the zoom toggle on top?
Yes, you can use toggle the Focus ring to become a zoom ring. It would be faster but I feel only marginally faster.
Hi wich 3-Axis Brushless Gimbal compatible with this Handicam?
+envato Channel we love the DJI Ronin for the AX100
Thank you for a nice tutorial. If you are shooting in 4K, how long will a 64 Gb memory card last?
Hi Jonas, I’m glad you liked the tutorial. Shooting in 4K I get about 1 hour 21 minutes

Thank you for your kind comments!
Great explaining
Glad it was helpful!
Great tutorial!!
Question: any reason you wouldn't want to keep SteadyShot on at all times? For instance, does SteadyShot reduce image quality?
Hi Mike, thanks for watching and your kind review!
SteadyShot can be kept on but I don't recommend it on gimbals as it's counterintuitive to the gimbal's stabilisation process. Active SteadyShot of the AX100 DOES NOT reduce quality because it's an optically (meaning mechanical) stabilisation. For slower jobs on tripods (like recording concerts and seminars) some folks may not like Steadyshot on at all times because when they do a pan or tilt, the lens may take some time to follow the camera's movements.
Thanks for the response and great info!
love mine as well, but i wish SONY would get on board with a STANDARD hot (cold) shoe standard. Any additional mike has to have an adapter to fit in the small shoe on the camera.
+Joe Mahoney I second that with all my heart. Apparently Sony listened. The new AXP55 4K handycam has the standard cold shoe config... Yay!
fantastic tutorial for a beginner like me.
I'm trying to purchase SD cards for the camera, how do I know what to buy, the shooting time of each card, and other information about SD cards
Hi Mark, if you're just shooting HD then a Class 10 SDHC card will be fine. If you're shooting in 4K, get a U3 Class 10 SDXC card. As for more info of each card, check out my tutorial at 00:07:28

Do you have a video showing how to turn on steady shot?
+Chris Chris on your AX100 LCD screen click on the Menu, click on Camera/Mic, click Camera Settings icon, click Steadyshot, set to Active. All the best :)
Question for ya'll,
I have a question about shooting a recording and/ or HDMI output of the camera while externally powered.
Hope this helps. Please Subscribe and LIKE my videos to support us.

Great info video! It is really compact size 4K camcorder with pro features. Is this better then the Sony CX-900?
