    Thanks man, I'm cheap and was looking for a good budget cooler 100 qts plus and almost bought the igloo. I searched online for a killer deal and got the coleman because of this very review... 🤙

    Surely the colour of the cooler might have something to do with it..Darker ones get hotter in the sun...white reflect heat better.

    You are spot on with that blue igloo, I have that one I bought 10+ years ago. Except when hunting in the cooler weather (Michigan) it doesn't hold ice worth a crap, during summer camping I had to ice it daily. The hinges are plastic and I've had to replace them. I shoulda got the Coleman you did back then.....

    Coleman is legit! I have all Yeti coolers but I borrowed a Coleman xtreme for a two night trip. Kept all our food safe and dispensed plenty of cocktail ice. If all you need ice for a day or two then don't even consider the rotomolded coolers.
    The weight and space limitations of the yetis is only worth dealing with if you're going rural without ice or air-conditioning and you are carrying food you absolutely must keep cold like meat and dairy. For trips like this I vac seal, dry ice and stuff a yeti full of ice and foam and do not open it at all unless I must. That way I have protein for the bbq and milk for my coffee on day 5.

    Yeti is a quality cooler, but they are very heavy and the storage space is limited due to it's thick walls. I'd only buy a Yeti if I were constantly taking 7 day or longer trips without a store nearby to get ice. For me I never do that. Coleman works great for most people and provides a much better value for the majority of people. But for me, I prefer having three coolers. One for drinks, one for meats and one for other items. Easier to find things and your cooler is only as good as how often you open them. I love the Engel 30. I have an Engel 19 and Engel 30. . Will run you $60 and $70 each, but the size and quality is very good. I also have a coleman 50 that I bought for $50. Total cost: $180 for all 3, but again, I love the flexibility of having 3 coolers. A Yeti 75 costs $449, so $180 is still cheap.

    My Coleman holds up well against a yeti and he had frozen food in his but the yeti lasted longer with the frozen food advantage. Plus it was lighter than the yeti is a fantastic cooler but a little pricey.

    My igloo 120 hold ice for 4 days max in 110 f here in Texas, it a great cooler when I go fishing or hunting. Idk why ur igloo sucks but give igloo another chance just a a different igloo and u may be happy, I also own a Coleman cooler also and there are good

      What are you doing to achieve that ice retention? I have a Grizzly 40 and held the ice about 30 hours, BUT it was opened ALOT, a couple of dozen times at least for beers. I was totally fine with that, but some may read your comment and not get the same results because of factors and think their Igloo sucks which ANY cooler won't hold too long with extreme temps and opening it often.

    6:32 I have found the newer Coleman/Igloo "Marine" coolers to be very weak in the walls and too much flex in the lid (unless lid is foam filled model) for boat seat or fishing platform use. My old, now cracked and rotting Igloo Marine 94 seems much stiffer in construction. But it is on its last legs with splits in the outer shell and sun rot.

    • @GablesOnTheGo
      @GablesOnTheGo  4 года назад

      I agree. I'm not as impressed with my new Coleman as I was the one that was about 10 years old. They still hold the ice very well but the construction is not what it used to be. Still a pretty solid deal though for the money....

    I own two Yetis and I agree they are not worth the difference in cost. One thing to also consider is the weight difference. A Yeti loaded down with ice is rediculously heavy. I’ll be selling at least one of mine and purchasing a Coleman because the little difference in ice retention is not the worth the huge weight difference.

      Here's a bit of updated info for you since I shot that video. I ordered a few more of the marine extreme Colemans. The one I showed in the video was an older one had held up extremely well. The new ones looked identical except they have two hinges instead of three like the older ones. Also, and most important, the new hinges began to rust with a couple of weeks here in the salt air. The older coleman has not rusted for years. I was a bit disappointed with this, but still you can get them for $50 online so I'll deal with the hinges as I see no change in the fantastic ice keeping ability. And paying for a Yeti still doesn't make sense for me!! Thanks for watching!

      Just a heads up, I have since learned since that video that the hinges that they are putting on the new "cheap" Coleman coolers are not the quality stainless steel that they used to have on them and the hinges have been rusting out pretty quick down here. I would recommend the Coleman cooler, but I would not buy the bottom of the line ones like I show in the video.

    Igloo has gone to shit. I was comparing 120qt coolers at Wal-Mart today and the Igloo had busted seams and foam leaking out of the brand new cooler on the shelf. And they are light as a feather now. Needless to say, I went with the Coleman.

    • @GablesOnTheGo

      Coleman is getting a little cheap too...the last Colemans I bought cut the hinges down from three to two, and they rusted a bit, even though they are supposed to be stainless. My 15 year old Coleman was much better built. they still hold ice just as long though!

    • @IconTactical
      @IconTactical 3 года назад

      @@GablesOnTheGo yeah, the Coleman 316 Series I just got has plastic hinges and only 2. I just went on Amazon and ordered the stainless steel ones to replace. The cooler overall still feels better than the Igloos at Walmart. I'm only using it for crawfish anyways, lol.
