I got rank 32 on this one! First top 50 I've ever gotten. But also the first one that I sat down and really tried to optimize. I missed the apex imp line that got better prerelentless kills on Seraph and the Divinity.
Yep, that was a left turn with a dupe after ring 2, which kind of makes sense shard-wise. Actually, this is one of those runs that can be optimized to heck, if need be. Though I for the life of me wouldn't take fortify after ring 1 like the top score did.
I think it was me that made the comment on the previous daily about always assuming high scores was an infinite! I wouldn't exactly say I was "making fun of you" so I hope you don't think that... it is, of course, easy for me (or anyone else) to be an armchair quarterback when I've already done the daily by the time I'm watching you do it, so I'm always interested in hearing your thoughts and predictions, and then seeing the choices you make! (Also, the only time I've ever been anywhere near the top of the daily leaderboard is when I'm doing the daily right after reset, and I don't think I'd be able to form an infinite deck if someone handed me all the right cards right off the bat.)
I don't actually think it was you, but maybe it was. I talk flippantly about it because I'm not actually bothered, and I understand that's just sort of part of having a YT channel haha. No worries either way!
I'm gonna argue that the choice that made you miss Imp was actully a mistake. Right before Dedalus you had a choice of dupe + hellhorned banner vs Steelshop + HP. And for a Daily the dupe with or after any temple is a big score boost because of extra shards, and there was a temple in that same ring. I was 1st place at the time of the recording, but I missed some optimizations in hindsight, I wouldn't be surpried if you got 1st had you not missed Apex Imp, given that most of my Daily knowledge comes from this series and I'm still kinda rusty and getting back to Monster Train
Eh, I'm going to disagree a bit with it being a mistake. A dupe at R3 could give you 15 shards at most (600 points). With the leaderboard at the start, that would help separate 2nd-6th, but the 1.7k jump from 1st to 2nd means there's value to be earned in getting earlier flying rushes or not losing midgame bottom floor kills, not from only having a bit more shards. Finding either multistrike or endless in the shop means the deck is shored up quite well for the non-flying fights. Good midgame + spell weakness can hit 79-84k of the top 10, and it's normally more likely than than the 1/17 chance of Apex Imp.
@@ItsTangilicious but at that position how likely are you to get a flying kill because of a multistrike, if it were a Magic shop I might agree because of spellweakness, but siren + multistrike is never a flying kill in any boss at this position because no good infusions, even if you got Double multistrike somehow, and floor fights are already solved by shark + little fade basically
@@ItsTangilicious Funny enough, the difference between the 1st and the 2nd was specifically 30 shards and 500 gold, with all the other scores being the same. As the 2nd place at the time, I looked kinda closely. 15 shards of those were the dupe at r7. There is also a possibility of a flying kill on Arkus. We know that it's invisible from the start, so in that case going for a dupe at r3 seems quite reasonable as well for syphon, self-infused mollusk mage or crypt builder.
This is one of those things that's fun to discuss with the benefit of hindsight, but I've literally played runs where chasing the score there gets me killed. It obviously pays out here, but without foresight I felt like I needed more security in my line there than I had.
52:52 nah bro but he's literally a rocket scientist nobody else digs for this POSSIBLE note? It seems like you may put a bit too much focus on gathering extra gold. These top scores are all fairly low on gold relative to you, the score is coming from just smashing the fights in 3 turns, the gap simply can't be made up by 500 points from gold. But, who knows what the run would have looked like for you had you found the apex high roll, so this might be a worthless point after all. Plus, in this case, you simply had nothing to spend the gold on anyway.

I also missed the Apex Imp. I got a 74k run with a Coldcaelia and an Icy Cilophyte. I 5Xed my Spellchained Energy Syphon.

I went with a similar line, I was not expecting the hellhorned banner I skipped to be a highroll.
That's a relatively benign set of mutators, at least.
Yeah, pretty mild all things considered.
molluscmage is defently not a whatever, is a great way of going fast....
