- Australian TV host Natalie Barr broke down in tears on air on Tuesday (16 December) learning that she knows the brother of one of the victims killed in yesterday's siege in Sydney.
Two people lost their lives in gunfire inside the Lindt Cafe, including the woman in question, Katrina Dawson, after a gunman took them hostage along with 15 others.

I can’t even imagine what it must be like to find out about death of someone you know live on air. What a horrible thing to go through.
What a horrible feeling that had to have been learning live on the air of this connection...
News anchors always come across as incredibly superficial to me, like an actor reading a script in a movie, or something of the like. So to see her emotion and heartache live while trying to stay professional is a bit shocking, and really sad to watch :(
Nice of them to break the news to her off screen ...
I only liked this because it's so heart felt. Genuine and reporters are trained to be non emotional.
What a bunch of mental cases in the comment section, suggesting any part of this was staged. It is completely disgusting and disrespectful to the victims and their families to suggest this. There are these types of comments on every video regarding the reporting of terrorism, none with a shred of viable evidence. Shame on you!
When you actually cry, these things called tears come out of your eyes and they run down your face.
@@ALG-kn8dh IKR 😆 a blank emotionless face is more sincere than frowning & dry crying like a child trying to manipulate there parents.
It was terrible. I used to go this cafe all the time and then this happened…I couldn’t go there without thinking of the tragedy…
WHY ARE THE PEOPLE THAT DIE ALWAYS CONNECTED TO THE LEGAL SECTOR SOME HOW?
Yeah david it's ok to be upset mate, & act as if you don't care about natt
Well she had courage to go on air
I've never understood how anyone can cry like that and Not Shed A Tear !!!! Really ? ! ! !
veryhuman111 It’s called tearing up. She’s holding back tears to remain coherent and partially professional.
Also, learn how punctuation works.
This situation could easily be avoided if the authorities weren't so naive. The lost lifes won't come back, but at least they can, and should learn from this experience.

ZZzzzzzWhat See ya!
Wtf this is disgusting comment. Learn from this experience wtf go away
Where's the tears
she was trying
eye make up got it
Get that woman an Oscar.
Loser
@P J What i seen is her trying to appear to lose composure but with no access to genuine emotion she just ends up pulling a few sooky faces until a producer can be heard saying Lets get the camera off Nat
I find it extraordinarily difficult to believe that there was not one single man in that cafe who couldn't have overpowered man monus at the right moment, in fact it defies belief.. I would have done something. After checking Man Monus out, he was absolutely nothing and could have been easily over powered by an 'average man' without access to his weapon and yet this wasn't done. The only explanation I can think of is that I don't think the hostages appreciated the reality of the situation or knew the danger they were in or thought for one second that it was going to end so badly and were expecting the police to respond and were relying and waiting for the police to engage.
Easy to say... when you're not in hostage situation yourself. The hostage thought he had a bomb in his backpack. It'll be an incredibly scary and stressful situation.
If you really find it extraordinarily difficult to believe maybe research it a little. Have you considered that maybe the hostages were actually quickly siding with the terrorist after hearing his story. Perhaps you will find the hostages were supportive of his desire for live television interview. Maybe the only real danger to the hostages were the Australian authorities. Maybe they might share there story about the threats they received if they dare tried to tell the truth about what happened. Not that any treasonous Australian media outlet would help them anyway.
awww give her a tissue, ohh wait... never mind
she knows that it was a staged event , what is the drama here :)))) hahahahaha , can't stop laughing , ahahaha
fucking bitch
Where do you buy your tinfoil hats? I want to buy another one for you so you can choke on them.
HenrySims
Also buy a bucket for me to vomit in for this bastard's indifference to the situation, using it for his conspiracy theories.
infinitecanadian wake the fuck up you idiot. You are one of the prime reasons they can get away with this utter pablum
Eddie Bernays
I am wide awake, which is why I can laugh at conspiracy theorists stirring up trouble.
staged
WTF THE GUY WITH GLASSES IS THE PERFECT EXAMPLE OF EMOTIONALLY STUNTED BRITISH, AMERICAN AND AUSTRALIAN MEN.
She was forcing tears and it was awkward. Our media outlets don't have any emotion as a whole and only care about drama and $$$. He just let it slip and made it more obvious.
“My best friend’s step brother’s second cousin’s grandma’s adopted daughter” 😂
Take a look at yourself
@@pats3071 oh come off it. She didn’t even know the woman and her non existent crocodile tears are pathetic
@@Factacceptancemovement Some people actually feel, you wouldn’t know anything about it.
@@pats3071 yeah some people do and she’s not one of them
@@Factacceptancemovement What possible reason would she have for faking this man? This is an anchor who has had a very long professional career, who on live television found out somebody she knew, whose family she is close to has been shot dead. This is her reaction upon immediately realising that. This is her trying to compose herself so she can do her job.
And here you are making jokes and calling her a liar. Disgusting behaviour.
You’re convinced that it’s fake for some reason so you’re viewing it through a different lens.
I hope you gain some compassion and empathy.
