Three of these, three Captain Big Os, a sequencer, a mixer and effects modules and you're well on the way 😜

Why not use the Cre8audio vco? It looks neat. Finally realized that is what was sitting in Richard Nichols case a few months ago.

I did another video of them playing together. I wanted to show this separately in the review so it stood by itself.

@@MoltenMusicTechI see, will check it out. The features sounded nice. And this Mr. Phil Ter is a nice package, particularly for small cases. Just got an extra 104 hp case and realized I need to downsize the VCF/VCA/ENV section to fit more fx, utilities, etc. and along came Mr Phil. The Pittsburgh collab is the cherry on top!

Hello Robin, thank you for your overview. Did you have any issues with this module regarding some strange white noise coming from the module even if it doesn't receive audio ? Mine is doing that and I can't find a solution. It is really weird.
Thank you again for your videos.

Not that I recall or I would have definitely mentioned it. There’s a lot of potential for cross talk in Eurorack, try rearranging your modules and plug the power into a different socket

Im wondering how it would sound with chipz?

Nice overview. You've probably answered this somewhere before, but what software are you using for the oscilloscope and analyser? I presume it is running on your Surface?

That's Melda Production Oscilloscope and Analyzer

@@KentODoherty Thanks Kent. It looks very impressive. And there's me messing about with USB oscilloscopes and it doesn't look anywhere near as cool!

Can you help me? I got Nifty Case bundle. Do I need a vca or a vca & mixer? Can I use this module for a vca w the nifty bundle 2 modules ? Thanks

I just got the bundle too. I read on the cre8audio it's recommended. I'm have very loud volume coming out and this should quell and add some. I had to get a refurbished since they're out of stock everywhere. Can't beat 99 bucks😊

@@MoltenMusicTech Thanks much. I ordered the filter as I see the value and versatility of having 3 core functions in a single module. Picked up the original Nifty bundle with Cellz n Chipz last year and the latter definitely needs additional filtering to be of any real value (imho). My only other sound source is Rings and Plaits so maximizing real estate on my rig is key lol. Would be great to see a demo of the filter with Chipz actually... in case you're looking for some new vid ideas :-)

Ha, I gave the Chipz modules away to a good cause unfortunately

I take it you're not a fan of chiptune? Lol I wasn't either until I realized that further filtering and fx could produce some interesting drone sounds. Cre8audio is doing some interesting stuff... intentionally or unintentionally, I'm appreciating their products more and more everyday

If the envelope is just a fixed filter, what happens when you run LFOs into it?

    • @MoltenMusicTech

A fixed filter? not sure what you mean?

    • @robertsyrett1992
      @robertsyrett1992 3 года назад +1

@@MoltenMusicTech Well a filter-based circuit. A gate comes in and, like maths, the signal is slewed (in just the way that your oscilloscope shows) indicating an RC filter circuit. So yeah, can it be used on LFO signals or did they put in a comparator so any signal becomes a gate?

    • @MoltenMusicTech

@@MoltenMusicTech Some envelope generators are made from filter circuits, examples include Makenoise Maths, and Moog's old modular 911 module. These can be used as slew limiters when you run an LFO through them. "Can this module be used like that?" is my question. If this is still unclear, no worries. Have a great rest of your day.
