Gane's killer instinct and willingness to bangg with a savage like Tai Tuivasa gained him alottta fans tonight! This fight blew me away, best HW fight ive seen in a longg time!
Best fight on the main card imo and I'm not even a fan of heavyweights.
Yes, That killer isn’t something we have seen in Gane before this fight. He has most definitely improved after his loss to Francis !
@@markschneider8103 i mean gane definitely was going harder here but usually once he hurt his opponents in a fight he was going for the finish hard.
@@jonwifebeaterjones6389 Bro, 😂 Your handle, I can’t stop laffin 😂
I really wanna see stipe vs gane, likely will not happen tho considering stipe is getting old.
Huge fan of both men, it really hurt to see Tai's incredible run get stopped like that. But respect to Cyril for showing there are truly levels to this.
Chill out on the "incredible run" talk. Tai lost 3 straight and then his "run" was 5 straight, but 3 of those 5 guys aren't even in the UFC anymore and 4 of them were on losing streaks when he beat him. I wouldn't call it incredible. But he was on a good trajectory. He'll be back though.
@@closinginonclosure that's how low the standard in heavyweight is tho lol
@@flguitarist8298 Not at the top of the division. Gane was 10-0 until the Ngannou loss. Aspinall was on an 8 fight win streak and undefeated in the UFC until that last injury loss. Blaydes has lost 1 of his last 8. Ngannou has only lost to Stipe and that boring decision loss against Lewis, but won 6 in a row since. Stipe had 3 title defenses in a row. And that's kind of my whole point here. The elite Heavyweights have better runs against tougher competition. Which is why a 5 fight streak and guys on losing streaks who don't even fight in the UFC anymore, isn't that incredible.
@@closinginonclosure the impressive part wasn’t the 5 fight win streak, it was the 5 fight knockout streak
@@IronAvenger2k05 Sure, I think pretty much all KO wins are impressive. And 5 in a row is absolutely impressive. But I wouldn't call it "incredible" like it's something we never see. Especially at Heavyweight. And the 4 guys on losing streaks that he KO'D or TKO'D were also coming off of KO losses. Don't get me wrong here. It's awesome Tai turned that 3 fight losing streak around, and I like the guy. I'm just saying that it's not like he's done anything too crazy. We've seen much longer winning streaks, and longer KO streaks by Heavyweights. And against better competition. Tai only cracked the top 10 recently and Lewis and Gane are his first two real high level Heavyweight fights. I'm looking forward to seeing where his career goes. He can win any fight if he can land on guys.
That first kick to the liver would finish 99% of fighters.
Would end 99% of all humans who have ever lived
@RUclipsAccount Kai easily quit, huh? Moreno was lighting Kai up all night and focused on the liver. Kai's body had enough. Did you even watch the fight?
@@BRUCEYBOY he wasn’t lighting him up all night lol. it was very competitive
@@fn966 I didn't say it wasn't competitive. I said Moreno was lighting Kai up, I didn't say Kai wasn't fighting back. But Moreno focused on the liver all fight, ergo, lighting him up. You're a casual, sorry.
@RUclipsAccount doesnt matter if the fighter wants to quit or not, a liverkick forces your whole body to quit
Tai Tuivasa isn't even in his prime yet. He's still green in the sport. And to be fair, Gane is probably one of the most technical strikers in UFC. He turned Ngannou into a wrestler lol
Most technical at HW
Tai ain't getting better than that. His chin also got worse, so his next fight might end the same if he fights another top HW like Volkov, Aspinall, and Blaydes. He got some very favorable matchups on his 5 fight win streak.

This fight lived up to the expectation, in fact it surpassed it
The expectation was a boring ass UD for Gane, tf u talkin about lmao
@@AT-qu2bz the expectation was that the fight would be entertaining, even if it went the distance someone like Tai takes risks and tries to finish the fight. What no one expected was Tai to knock Ciryl Gane down in the 2nd round.

@@lowlowseesee I thought that as well, Tai definitely did better than most of us expected.
@@AT-qu2bz how can u as a fan of the sport find his masterful striking to be boring, regardless of whether it goes to a UD or not
Gane showed a killer/ finishing instinct that we haven’t seen before. After he survived adversity in the cage. He admitted that he was temporarily ko’d, yet got up and finished his opponent. Gane is growing by leaps and bounds. I look forward to him becoming Heavyweight Champion !

I thought Gane was going to dismantle Tai without getting hit a single time, that didn't happen. Tai is a real contender and it showed tonight. Huge props to both incredible men
For someone known for stellar technique, ciryl is low-key the best brawler too
zero brawling by Gane. All technical. He had many opportunities to brawl, but maintained composure after every combo/flurry. He is not a brawler.
@@itsreason3238 exactly this.
Tai did amazing in two rounds, no clue how he took those body shots, definitely does deserve to be in the top 5. It’s just Gane is way to technical for almost every heavyweight.
Yeah I think Gane was his worst matchup out of any top contender aside from the knockdown Gane was in full control of this fight and really started dominating in the 3rd round.
Only wrestlefukers can defeat him
I think another thing is gane is actually in great shape most these hw are fat guys I get that there still pros but no body is at there best when they have that much body fat
@@solosolo8610 yes and no... Having excess bodyfat is beneficial for all fight sports. Helps recover, gas tank, overall weight into your strikes and grappling. Robert Whitaker not really cutting weight is the same as being fatter than his opponents. Vettori was leaner.

the way to stop a leg kick is to move forward. a smart fighter will take whats given any time

Izzy always has long reach and height advantage against mws, and just waits and tries to counter against them. It looks good against aggressive fighters likr gastelum, and whittaker 1, but if someone isnt aggressive, his fights are fuckung boring.

Best MMA Heavyweight fight i've ever seen. You could literally see these two top tier big men's styles clashing and their skills bringing a constant back and forth especially in round 2. When Tai's fast hands and power hooks hit it was followed by Gane's range and sharpshooting kicks.
Super impressed by Tuivasa’s chin man! Fight surpringly turned into a brawl for a bit but those kicks to the body were money. How do you see Gane vs Jones playing out?
Jones dead
Jones outwrestlers and tkos gane in the ground. Gane cannot improve his wrestling so much in this less time to be able to match jones. Jones outwrestled DC who also weighs similar as gane.
@Mal Theri if a sloppy wrestler like francis takes him down multiple times and does nothing. Jones will have a diekd day with him. Even if he fights stipe it will be the same.
@@simplestain6409 jones struggled with reyes and santos to take down, gane not easy. Gane francis jones all 50 50s if they fight

I applaud how tui came in for the kill. Kill or be killed. A true fighter. Win or die. He somehow won the audience. Love bam bam. He's a true fighter. Stayed in the fight after being rocked he gets hit reacted in trouble and swings haymakers like no other.
When you have no skills or willing to train, your only way of winning is having good chin and swinging wildly and hoping you will KO somebody.
@@imma5761 no skills or willing to train are you dumb? Since his 3 fight losing streak he leaves the country for 5 months prior to each fight to train in Thailand and Abu Dhabi away from his kid, family and friends. He's more than willing to train, probably more-so than a lot of the other HW fighters and we've seen that be reflected in how much he's improved in his previous 5 fights. His striking is incredibly creative and his combos against slower guys puts them to sleep. He's not just relying on his physical attributes of heavy punch and strong chin, he's using what he has intelligently. Gane is just too fast though and like Weasle said Tai tried everything and Gane was so fast and able to avoid everything that Tai went into a wreckless mode. But to say he doesn't have skills is just a straight up lie when you look at the fight against Struve, Sakai and Lewis and to say he's not willing to train just discredits everything he's sacrificed to get into the Top 5.
He got those skills from Derrick playing dead and then swinging for the kill.
Respect to Tai. This man will never have a boring fight
Pleeeeeeease also breakdown Whittaker vs. Vettori! That was another technical masterclass from The Reaper!
But yeah, Gane is definitely the future of Heavyweight!!!
If Tai could just make his fundamentals better with his defense, footwork, and so on, he could be a dangerous force for the top 5. As of now though, he’s still not on that level. Brawling can only get you so far
Tai is only 29 too I mean I hope he stays in the ufc but anywhere he goes I'm a fan
Tuivasa is surprisingly explosive/fast for his size, it is just that Gane is unnaturally agile for HW and uses his reach advantage like no one else. Tai can beat 99% of HWs but Ciryl's style is just his kryptonite.
@@publiusventidiusbassus1232 💯💯👍🏻👍🏻
The problem with Lewis also is the problem with Tai: both have very heavy hands and at a certain point of their youth, a coach said: hey, you could punch really hard, why don't you do into MMA, where the objective is to KO your opponent with punches?
So they did and landed some really good punches against lower ranked, less skilled, less athletic opponents.... but as they get further up along the ranking, they run into more and more guys who may not hit as hard but who are actually really fit, fast, and agile ATHLETES who move well and who have elite skills.
You land one of those Tai or Dereck punches against anyone, including elite guys, you could hurt them; but again the probability of people like Tai and Derect landing clean punches against the elites are not that high. And, unlike the elites who are also superior ATHLETES who could resort to speed and agility, if all else fail at a certain moment, to get away.... slow and over weighed Tai and Dereck don't have similar speed, agility & elite athleticism...
Man tai did a decent job. It wasn’t an issue of speed or even fundamentals or just brawling. I mean gane is the fastest hw for sure, he has the highest strike accuracy as well as the highest striking defense, almost nobody hits him clean. He has great footwork and a lightning fast jab. But yet tai didn’t just go out there and blitz him or do what Francis did on the feet, he actually hit gane, a good bit and clean, not just once or twice either and he dropped him even once as well. Yes gane was still peppering him with the jab, he worked the body again and again until the head got opened up, but it was the body shots that really messed with tai not his fundamentals. It was only when he was hurt that he just started brawling or throwing recklessly but hey, the first time he wobbled and gane rushed in to try and get that finish, just like with hardy and Lewis tai refusing to just let that happen without banging almost got gane dropped for the second time and in those moments tai was doing well even hurt. But after those teeps and tai overextended gane hit him with a nasty counter and ofc the hammer fist to the back of the head and tai was done in but still, I was impressed with his performance considering this is one of the trickiest stylistic matchups for literally any heavyweight that doesn’t have grappling
Ciryl got up from that knockdown like an Elden Ring boss entering second phase. T'was nobly fought by Tai.

Never been more convinced that Gane vs Jones needs to be booked. What a fight that would be💯
The wrestling of Jones will be tough
Gane would get taken down
My first thought as well after the fight. Jones wrestling might dominate tho
Jones will lose. Cardio is questionable, wrestling won’t be an issue Jones isn’t as strong as Francis and struggles to wrestle LHWs recently so gane will be an even harder task. And gane is a better striker than Jones so round 4 tko or decision(49-46)
@@thegodtier7947 Cutting weight ruins your cardio more than gaining weight, actually. And Jones has taken years to acclimate his body to the new size, so its not like he's gonna show up as just a fat LHW. I don't know how Jones does, since HW has some monsters like Tuivasa, Gane, Aspinall, Blaydes, Stipe and Ngannou, but he is one of the most preternaturally skilled and physically gifted fighters in history. We'll all have to see when the time comes.

I think Tais stock actually goes up with this performance. Nobody else dropped Gane. He was the only one able to time and trade with Gane. I would much rather see Tai fight the divisions best than guys like Derek Lewis and co. This is a guy who can put on wars in that division.
Regarding the strike to the back of the head, Ramsey Dewey made a video titled "Legal fouls in MMA" after the Zhang Weili vs Jessica Andrade fight. Based on what he says, Ciryl's strike would be totally legal.

Before hate comments come here, please understand it's actually very difficult to control yourself in a fight especially with an electric audience and adrenaline rushing through you WHEN YOU SEE a huge window for the kill. a foul is a foul. Rules are rules our get rid of them. Thats what I hate about Mma. ?In other sports fouls are called whether intentional or not.
@@jmiahrealone other sports don't move at the same pace. You can't toss the gloves to the ref while they watch a replay to challenge and shot. I don't like it, but I think it is just part of the sport.
When you are throwing hands and the other person is moving it is unfortunate but occasionally inevitable.
I remember back when putting a hand down to avoid a knee was a controversy. I think the hardcore and smart fighters were split. On one hand it is (no pun intended) the rule sucks because it is just a exploitation of the rules but on the other hand (not intended again) if you can put a hand down to not get knees to the head... You probably should.
The difference is the speed of exchanges in the clinch vs Gane throwing that during a high pace exchange.

I think any good wrestle boxer will beat Tai. I feel Lewis was just the one fighter in the rankings who would be 50-50 with anyone and Tai managed to win the fight. Otherwise I favor Blaydes, Tom, Ngannou, Spivak (add well have already seen that) and even Romanov and Juan Espino.
@@somdutroy agreed, but seeing how well Tai Tuivasa did against someone like Ciryl Gane was very impressive, I did not think he’d have his moments in that fight, seeing as he’s only 29 he’s got a lot of time to improve and has only taken a lot of big stripes forward in the competition he has faced. He could be a solid top contender for a few years if he gets given the right stylistic matchups.
@@Palestine_Silva I love for Tai to be a real contender. He came real close today, but I felt like Gane brawled way too much. I loved the aggression Gane showed, kind of ruthless, mean then smiling and laughing with Tai & the ref during the fight... then a teep or head kick right as his smile starts to leave his face. 🤣
Gane needed to show that aggression in a fight I say & they picked a good time for it. Tai is a tough out!
I really appreciate your reviews
Everyone in the stadium must’ve been very surprised when Tai knocked ciryl down
Yea if he had cleanly caught him with something when he was getting up could've gone a different way, however it went exactly as I expected it would from the git go.
@@radesaul Yeah I was also impressed with Gane’s recovery because the second he got up he was already targeting body shots and matching him down afterwards.
Id say scared. Not surprised. We knew he could do that if he landed
dude, amazing, im proud of ciryl, exactly how i expected to happen. and ur video help us understand the fight game better. Gane is my fav HW.
"Straight punches beat looping punches, every time."
But where does Kevin Lee fit in all this?
that fight was so fun to watch! Gane moves so gracefully, Tai has crazy speed, both were having fun, showing ultimate respect, then went back to work taking no prisoners. great match
as ciryl stated he was KO but somehow he got his senses to come back very close fight
Best breakdowns on tube!
People really thought tai could beat gane 🤦🏽♂️
Dude he literally knocked him down its a heavyweight fight anything can happen
Stupid comment
@@theriptide9461 bro he got a lucky shot after that he had nothing and gane knew it
@@tysonfury6824 I wouldn't call it lucky, he saw an opening and went for it, he capitalized on a mistake
@@tysonfury6824 lucky or not, moments like that are why people believe Tai could win. Puncher's chance increases the bigger the weight classes.
No Whittaker vs Vettori?
I wish you would do a video on the Jourdain Wood fight. Jourdain was doing so good then after the pause for the cup shot he was loosing.
If you pay attention it was always Gane’s plan to beat Tai the way he did. But he legit wanted experience, however when he got dropped he had to switch gears and start his finishing sequence earlier than planned. Tai’s weakness is his body not his head, Gane knows this and planned accordingly but also being a sportsman wanted to put a show on for the fans. When he got put in harm’s way he had to switch it on and go for the kill, and he did so masterfully. Then Tai, being the legend he is. What more can you say. He should have been KOed sooner than he was but his incredible toughness showed through. I just hope he works on his condition and conditioning to plug that hole for the future.
I wish I was a billionaire, I’d put so much money into your channel. Literally the best analysis on mma fights we got. Thank you.

Weasel is the best among post fights analysts !
Bro love your videos !!
Cyril Gane has wonderboy's footwork, Giga's liver kicks, Ian Garry's boxing, Tony's chin, Holloway's cardio, chandler's aggression. He's a machine.
Circle strikes to the back of the head again 🤣
Man its crazy how gane moves for a hw, never seen someone so light and fast like him on this division whithout gas out on thr first round. This just proves how good is nghannou
Imagine Jones vs Gane
@@Palestine_Silva If he can’t beat an injured Francis I don’t think that he will do better against Jon jones who can wrestle way better than Francis …
Tai's stock went up even though he lost
Facts
The fact that Tai ate a clean head kick and all those body shots (that were making me piss blood just by watching it) is incredible, but this fight definitely took a lot of his durability, he wont always eat those kind of shots
We need to stop justifying these illegal shots saying "oh he woulda lost anyway". It does not matter. An illegal blow is an illegal blow. This fight should be called a no contest for that blatant hammer fist to the back of the head. It wasn't like Tai turned into it or accidental or anything like that. He straight up dropped Thors hammer on the back of that mans dome. That's BS.
Agreed. Imagine if Tai full charged and knee'd Ciryl in the head while he was downed, the ref would have stopped the fight and Tai most likely would be DQ'd, who's really to say Tai couldnt have turtled up and recovered had he not been stunned by an illegal strike to the back of the head.
@@bloggs24 Exactly. People seriously have the wrong mindset in this community.
@@bloggs24 that was In the heat of the moment you would have done the same thing too.
Love how much respect these two had, one of the best displays of respect i’ve ever seen in a fight. As much as this fight hinders Tuivasa’s future for a title shot, I think that he showed real potential. Definitely got outplayed the whole fight but he’s top 5 material for sure. He’s similar to an O’malley for the HW division.
O’Malley probably isn’t top 5 worthy
@@rowanjeffree1094 I totally agree, but you can’t deny how much of a prospect he is. People just like the guy. Tuivasa wasn’t even being thought about 2 years ago. we forget how young O’malley is. He has time to get there.
Tonight, Ciryl "Bon Gamin" Gane proved he is the best fighter in the heavyweight division and it's not even close. We are looking at all time great ladies and gentlemen. The future of fighting. He moves like a lightweight and hits like a heavyweight. He made all us French proud. He showed his cœur. We as Frenchman are alpha lions and the toughest people on planet earth. We fight, we cry, we are hung and we love this is what it means to be French. 🇫🇷🇫🇷🇫🇷 toujours! VIVE LE FRANCE!
he lost to Francis
2nd best. Keep hating on francis
@@mpforeverunlimited Even the weasel agrees that Francis lost
@@jangobango2847 he may have lost, but it's only a matter of time before he does to Francis what Francis did to stipe. I just hope Francis gets his money first.
@@mpforeverunlimited he was ROBBED against Francis though so in my mind I don't even count that as a loss. In my mind he is the real UFC champion
Great breakdown as always. Marc Goddard many times looks like he's as far away in the cage as possible 😂 real springy position there Marc
I knew you're gonna have a field day with the co-mainevent and mainevent.
2Cannot believe all the shots you show, but you dont show Tai dropping Gane ? It was what created the drama in the fight. Like Ortega getting a choke on Volk... Don't miss the main narrative bro. PS love your vids.
Great breakdown as always👍
We could hear Tai grunting on many bodyshots even on tv while the crowd was crazy! Tuivasa is as tough as you can get.
Et Vive La France! C'était incroyable les cousins.🔥🔥🔥
I loved that he was still 100% after that head kick and actually tried to rope a dope Ciryl into a knockout. too bad he was to early on the trigger.
Bro my heart leapt out of my chest when he got dropped tho. Holy shit. Much respect for both of these guys.
Gane has great composure. He's so calm I wondered if he didn't have that real killer instinct but I guess he does.
This fight was a perfect example of how the patient, more technical fighter, usually wins. Those tough brawler types always have a puncher’s chance. But more often than not, technique beats power.
