You are kinder to this movie than I thought you would be. I so so wanted to love this movie, and I think because of how much I wanted to love it, I feel so let down by it. I personally think most of the fault lies with the writing... as you said, so many plot holes, and for a story about not taking shortcuts, I feel like the script took shortcuts.
I agree on all points. One more critique. Though the score was great, I expected some classic 80's music in a movie with 1984 in the title. Clothing style and other pop culture references were good but I think the only 80's music was in the trailer. Overall, I'll watch any super hero movie. I just hope they do better with the next one. This one brought DC back down to "meh" level.
The whole boyfriend in another man's body is even more cringey when you realize he's credited as "handsome guy." They could have at least named the guy.
They got rid of the screenwriter from the first movie, who was actually a writer of the Wonder Woman comic and really understood her. Instead they used Geoff Johns who not only never wrote Wonder Woman, but in general is not great with female characters.
Great review. And I agree on pretty much every point. This movie had so much potential to grow a strong female superhero character, and blew it. I knew from the mall scene this move was on trouble. Mainly because I couldn't believe how bad the Lasso of Truth special effects were. It's like they were made in 1984.
LOL - I was SOOOO disappointed in this movie. I feel like it completely drifted off from Wonder Woman's true character - and I agree - they forgot true character work (e.g. where decisions are based on what we know about a character).
Agreed on many points. I think your numbers don’t align with your points you make verbally, you were generous with the points. Super hero movies are my favorite and purely for the ability to get lost, and have fun, and see kool effects (and hopefully behind the scenes extras). Things I can watch again. And if the movie has good plots and all that, even better. This one I don’t think I can watch again. Better then Spider-Man 3...yes, because I could finish the movie, but will I watch it again...maybe. A wasted opportunity with a great character and great cast.
I enjoyed the movie, but it is seriously flawed. I hope the team can learn from these mistakes. I can forgive dodgy effects in service to a really gripping story, so I hope they understand that the writing is where they need to put more focus.
I had a great time watching the movie. Granted, I was pretty stoned (and almost as stoned when tweeted my review), so my take was skewed. Yes, I saw the flaws, but I grew up on crap science fiction shows on television (namely the SciFi Channel as it was then), so I'm pretty forgiving and can enjoy stuff even with flaws. However, there was one flaw that clicked in my head at the end of the movie that I just can't let go of, and I talk about it in a separate comment on this video, and I don't mince words either on how I view that flaw.

Hello there, agree with the majority of the review. The writing was lacking and to many plot lines. Was looking for more 80's music....what happend there? BTW, i received my map on saturday. What a year for the post office! Happy New Year J
They don't care that it's bombed, it's not about the money, they second they get their hands on anything with a mostly male demographic , they do their best to ruin it (Star Trek/Starwars/batwoman/ghostbusters/mad max/harley quin/terminator dark fate/Charlie's Angels)...I'm really looking forward to the new bond movie, I'm sure they'll get it right this time 🙄
I love to watch your videos... but I think you must re-consider your taking levels. Story and script according to your description should be much lower. Same with emotional connection and so on. No, this was very, very bad. And I really liked the first one and I too wanted this to be great. I give it 3/10, mostly because I like Gal Gadot. 🥰

Agreed. I’m just shocked this is the best they could come up with. I think there were some good story elements there they could have expanded

On television they are rocking it (even though it does have a serious layer of camp to it)

Yeah there was a huge opportunity there to really lean in to the nostalgia and they just didn’t. To me it’s a movie with so many missed opportunities
