Does it physically hurt to play difficult charts like this? If so, do you ever get used to the pain or just find ways to work around it?

Only if I overdo it. But it usually doesn't get to that point, usually my sessions end in a nice dull ache not unlike the feeling after a workout. I'm used to it, I've been playing for years so I can last pretty long before getting tired out. If you feel pain right on the first plays I would recommend playing easier charts and building up your skill, like the other guy said.

I've been practicing Level 9s & 9+s to do just that. This whole "pain" thing came to mind because of a minor sore. My left arm hurts when I exert any moderate amount of force using it. It's completely fine otherwise though. It got me curious on what players dealing with 10+s and 11s must be going through and how they deal with it.

Nah not really. It only hurts or sores if I over do it or play for a super long time. If you're feeling immediate pain while playing hard charts that might be a sign youre putting a little too much effort into spazzing your muscles or something.
