    Great review! My wife just bought me this model for Father's Day. I love it so far! Do you use regular tap, filtered, or distilled water? I have heard distilled is good to use to prevent mineral buildup, any advice? I might install a reverse osmosis filter and use that water

    • @inthekitchenwithmatt
      @inthekitchenwithmatt  Год назад +1

      Thank you!! I definitely use my filtered (Reverse Osmosis) water, since I live in AZ and don't have a water softener, the tap water here is terrible. I installed this APEC RO system, it wasn't too terribly difficult to install, but then again I had a previous older system already, so it was a littler easier than starting from scratch. My brother just installed this exact one a few days ago, and said it wasn't too hard. You just need to drill a hole on top of the sink where you want the spout to be. amzn.to/441gqfO

      I also live in AZ and just bought this. I'm watching this before I set mine up but what I love about this ice maker is the ability to hook it up directly to my R/O line. Also as you mentioned it fits perfectly underneath cabinets with space to give!

    Just got one and its on my counter. When i try to turn it to drain on my sink the left bottom corner leakes a little. Is that normal? Or when i fill the water and close the door sometimes the same left bottom corner leaks a little

    • @inthekitchenwithmatt
      @inthekitchenwithmatt  2 месяца назад

      hmm, not the corner shouldn't leak, I haven't had any leaking issues. The only water that should come out is through the two tubes used to drain it.

    I just got mine today (different brand) and got it for $180. I cant wait to make some. I hate big ice that slams down onto your face or blocks your drink from coming out. I dont like crushed ice either because it melts too fast. The bullet ice makers ate cheaper but its still big ice. Nugget ice is perfect! And i can chew it without cracking my teeth. My instructions say to clean it daily with a teaspoon of bleach and water. Does that seem too often to you? Monthly, it says with vinegar

    • @inthekitchenwithmatt
      @inthekitchenwithmatt  Год назад

      The manufacturer for mine recommends once a week, depending on how often it is used. Enjoy your nugget ice maker! I just used mine again for a party and everyone loved it.

      I love mine!!
      We have city water with a lot of white scale so I use distilled water.
      Pro: I get a lot of ice using a gallon of water. Ice is slow in melting.
      Neg: ice does melt but the water circulates and makes more ice by opening and closing the door.

    That seems like a cool machine. But I’ve got one question. Do you have to buy one of those filter things for the machine? I wonder if Walmart sells those icemakers. i’m dying to buy me one.

    • @inthekitchenwithmatt
      @inthekitchenwithmatt  Год назад +1

      Thanks! Nope you don't buy a filter for it. You pour in your own filtered water if you want or you can use tap water. Yes Walmart sells them online, they have all kinds of brands they sell including the Gevi Household brand, although this particular model is new, I don't see it on their site yet, but they have the previous model on there. I don't know if they sell any brands/models in the actual stores but they might!

    I bought this unit. I had it one day. I couldn’t get the on/off button to function. It seemed to stay on as long it was plugged in. And it wouldn’t make ice! It stayed on the “clean cycle”. I could tell right away that I got a lemon.

    • @Jancass5
      @Jancass5 3 месяца назад +1

      I was too! My extensive research said this was the machine to buy! And I liked its looks. I think the problem is Amazon’s. They put the box that said “this side up!” inside another box that said nothing. Machines with refrigerants, coils, tubing, sensitive electronics don’t like to be flipped around. Which is why we are warned to never transport a fridge on its side or back. With luck, it may not damage the unit, but why roll the dice.

      @@Jancass5 Good thing Amazon makes it easy to return products. At least for me, I return stuff to Kohls which is only a mile from me.

    How does the ice hold up with refreezing? Interested in making how much I need putting it in the freezer, then (putting it away) until I want to make more. One person in my h/h so I wouldn't need it out all the time.

    • @inthekitchenwithmatt
      @inthekitchenwithmatt  Год назад +1

      It gets harder in the freezer and sticks together, so you just need to break it apart when you take it out of the freezer. I am only one person in my household as well and that is what I do.

    • @inthekitchenwithmatt
      @inthekitchenwithmatt  7 месяцев назад

      Yes you can, and as the ice melts it will be remade into ice again. Or just add more water to it to keep making ice.

    I just ordered that ice maker a couple days ago, except I got the full stainless steel model. I hope I made the right choice. There were absolutely no RUclips videos about it. Previously I had a nugget ice maker from Wamife that lasted 6-7 months and quit. It has a 2 year warranty, but the company refuses to honor it. Fortunately I got a full refund from Amazon. Hopefully Gevi makes a better product and has better customer service.

    Hope they fixed the problem with the auger they had on their first model. What a piece of trash that thing is!!! I've had two. Amazon seller replaced the first one when it started tearing itself apart...dropping metal pieces into the ice bin...and making horrible screaching noises. Second unit lasted about 3 months and did the same thing. Amazon seller won't replace and getting ahold of them for a warranty is near impossible.

    • @inthekitchenwithmatt

    I can’t for the life of me see where the max fill line is? Can anyone point it out to me because my last machine had a very visible line?

    • @inthekitchenwithmatt
      @inthekitchenwithmatt  Год назад +1

      It is pretty much the whole bottom. When you open the door and lay it flat there are little words written on the step down in line with the hinges of the door if that makes sense, that say fill line. So you fill the water up to there, which is pretty much the whole bottom part. It winds up being about 1/2 inch less than the level of the door.
