No risk at all really, the safety equipment they had on would carry their weight easily so there is no chance of falling off. I should know I used to reach rope rescue. The harness and ropes are tested to around 5 tonne shockload.

I have a fear of heights since forever and I can seriously relate to Steve and Japhet.
It's normal to people who doesn't have it, but to us it's totally different, we can be brave at anything but when that fear of heights creeps in, everything changes. You feel as tho everything is moving and your grip is not strong enough. That's when your legs starts getting high and the fear sinks in. Also feels like Gravity just got 10 times stronger.
I experience this on terrace buildings with good parapet walls, nevermind things like that
