The Monster is getting harder to make a case for with the Streetfighter v2 being an objectively better sport naked. The Scrambler lineup is an objectively better beginner bike than a Monster. And then there is the Hypermotard, which is arguably as sporty and fun on track and road as a Monster. With the age of the Monster getting on in years now, i can see it going away completely in short time. It is nevertheless iconic and has an important history in the development of the Ducati brand.
Did you know the standard Monster is no longer offered in the US? Only the Monster Plus and SP are available in the US.

I think you mean the Desmo valve clearances, but the belts need changing well before then. 2 years max I’d say🤔
