Absolutely stunning paint job. It's great to see the collaboration video with Simpson’s Classics and Whiteland Restorations and Lewis your the man the fantastic job as always. Let's see some more collaboration video like this.
I'm sitting here my jaw hurts so much from grinning like a mad man!!! its amazing! what a place! i will be sub'd to whiteland for sure! amazing work. love the raptor on the inside of the panels! all about prevention of the dreaded rust over time. so another layer of protection is a win win for me!!!
Hey glad you like it buddy. It’s all come out lovely considering this was a car I did in a small damp garage. It’s been a while that’s for sure. Definitely go check Whiteland restorations out their content is ace and you will learn so much for when it’s time to paint yours.
Wow wat a beautiful colour combo a lot off hard work has paid off and nice to see a smile on both yours and Mrs s faces carnt wait to see the rebuild now I've been doing my own for last couple off years so no first hand how much work and time goes in to these little cars but pat on the back looks stunning
Hey glad you like this little car. It’s been a long build due to so many life events like everyone encounters but we are over the paint hurdle. All the best with your car and thank you for supporting this one 👍
Yes their work is next level. Also they are all round just lovely people. We hope to do more with them in the future. Very keen spot you did see both hubnut and Ellie 👍
Awesome work guys. Mrs S great choice of colour Mrs M (my wife ) loves it. My mini is spending it’s 5th month in the paint shop hopefully come out in the next few weeks
That looks a really nice colour scheme and finish. You will have to be very careful during the re-build to avoid any scuffs and scratches but I am looking forward to watching your progress and eventually getting to see it "in the flesh".
Wow! That paint finish is superb! Nightfire Red is a great colour and that black gloss roof finishes it off perfectly. This is the car that got me following Simpsons Classics all that time ago and to see it getting nearer and nearer completion is so exciting. Well done Marc in getting the car so close to perfect before Whiteland Restorations completed the final fettling and paint. I'm now subscribed to their channel too 😀
Hey glad you like the paint John. Yes this is the first project that came to the channel it’s what kicked it all off really. It’s been a slow burner for various reasons but we are over the paint hurdle which is a big one. Couldn’t have done it without the help of Whiteland Restorations. I was really happy with the bodywork I had done it was so close. Thanks for watching and also subscribing to their channel to. 👍
Yeah great job & a long time coming, the only problem l have l don't like "red" light blue & light green is my prefered colour 😳🙄 But it does look shiny 😁😁🐨🐊🦘 Melbourne Australia.
Wow! I'm so happy for you and Mrs S! All the late nights, long days, money and time becomes worth it when you look at it now! The car looks absolutely beautiful in that colour scheme. Hard to believe how much work has gone into it when you look at it now, the quality of that paint looks far better than a brand new car! Thanks for sharing the build with us Marc, I've learnt loads from it! I can't wait to see the reassembly 👍👌
Wow, that's beautiful, but I thought that with metallics a clearcoat had to go over the paint to prevent oxidation? Can't wait for the Amazon to look that brilliant!
Brilliant from start to finish. I am a bit jealous of how beautiful “Gary” the ‘89 looks. Still, now I have all my body panels I collected from you at Minimine for my Mini Thirty and a date set to get it sorted, I too will have an ‘89 in burgundy in time for summer sunshine drives.
Definitely the right colour the paint. looks like a sheet of glass. The red looks like a lighter shade of rosso alfa. And if you don’t mind me asking what’s happening to the midweek trio because it left because of your personal life with house move and the unit move. Is it coming back since your back to uploading regularly or is that series gone?
Hey, I am glad you like the colours. Mrs S definitely picked well. I put a pause on the series due to a few things but I would like to get it up and running again. Watch this space. Thanks for watching 👍
What a lovely paint job! The red is a stunning colour, it almost looks like a candy paint. I have been dragging my feet on deciding a colour scheme for a motorcycle project (Bandit mk2 1200), so could I ask, what is the paint code for the red? I feel like I need some in my life! What a beautiful job you have done. Thank you for sharing.
Hey thanks I am glad you like the colours. The red is called Rover Nightfire red code is BLVC1217 or CAQ some company’s use different codes it’s known as nightfire red 2 on later cars. All the best with your project it sounds like a great one to. 👍
@@SimpsonsClassics Thank you so much for the reply. I have just been searching my PPG looking for venetian red. LOL I will be off to the paint suppliers later this week!! Thank you, and once again your workmanship is superb.
Hi there, love the show, I what to pick your brain 🧠 how bad has a rear sub frame got be before its not repairable. I have bad rust holes below the suspension arms, can send pictures if you want, thanks for your advice, Rik.
Hi, for the cost i would not repair one. Just buy new it’s a very important part of your car. Pattern ones aren’t expensive. That’s my advice, all the best 👍
Have you made a video about welding on the two rear rear subframe mounts... the ones that weld to the boot floor? Do you plug from the inside, underside or both?😅
@@SimpsonsClassics Cheers Marc that’s a lovely unit. (Back in ‘71 I dropped an MG 1100 unit inc twin SU carbs into my old 850 and resprayed sprayed it Jaguar Claret metallic. (slightly similar to Nightfire Red) - but just single stage paint with no clear coat, - just lots of T-cut and Simoniz polish ha ha! Live long and prosper buddy🖖
Gary looks incredible. Mrs S has a good for color and it's so nice of Whiteland Restorations to offer to take a bit of weight off your shoulders and help get Gary painted.
Glad you like him buddy. Honestly I can’t thank them enough for reaching out. Their channel and work is top draw. Plus they are great people to. Stay tuned for the rebuild.

Verry nice, mines the same color and I've toyed with having the roof done black. Now i can visualise it
Thanks buddy the black roof really makes it 👍
They are lovely people and extremely talented.
It's also a lovely part of Wales. I used to live a few miles from there.

No I don’t think I have done a video on that but it’s easier to plug weld from the top.
Thanks for that. Underside, I'd have quiet a deep plug weld through the mount. Might seam weld the edges though. 👍
Oh. I'm a day early 😢

It was orginally a 998 but she bought the car with a MG Metro 1275 so that will get reworked and used again

Is that a genuine 30?
No it’s a mini flame originally.
Black roof spoils it in my opinion.
Each to their own. It will be complimented with black arches and other details to. The black makes the red really stand out.
