  • Meet our CityAirbus NextGen, our all-electric, four-seat eVTOL prototype. All-electric, the CityAirbus NextGen, is a four-seat vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) prototype.
    Based on a lift and cruise concept, it boasts an 80-km operational range and a cruise speed of 120 km/h - making it perfectly suited to a variety of flight operations in our cities and communities.

    the look in combination with the video cut and music feels like a 15 year old blender artist who wants to be cool

    Will these have a ballistic parachute for added safety, I wonder. I like the idea of these taxis.

    Handwavium, until we see it fly.

    These eVTOLs are always the most complicated, lease elegant designs.

    I don't understant why the multi rotor configuration. it could be a helicopter

      you would end up with something like the v-22 osprey which is much wider, i think its targeted audience are rich people annoyed by climate activists that glue themselves on the streets

      if you have a lot of rotors you can do the differentiate the rpm of each rotor to steer saving yourself the swashplate, increasing or decreasing the rpm words best with an electric engine

      I think the design is poor, more like a helicopter with a different paint job. I've seen other manufacturers make it more like a flying car.
      Airbus executives need to pay more attention to the long-term development of innovative engineering talents, rather than just speculating on stocks and catering to idiot shareholders.

      @@io9883Its design will be much more efficient in forward flight than a helicopter. This will give it greater range by extending its battery life as the wing configuration will generate lift which will allow the props to put more forward energy in to its motion. This will also make it safer in the air as it will have the ability to glide in the event of an engine failure. The design is actually very smart.

    Looks like the visibility out of the cockpit is very poor.

    speed estimation?

      @io9883 6 месяцев назад

      According to the previous statement, the speed is 120 kilometers per hour. To be honest, it is terrible. The speed is slower than that of a helicopter.

    An unusual but ugly design. If it were star-shaped, it would be more pleasing to the eye and would be lighter. There are unnecessary protrusions on it.
    It would also be beneficial to make such vehicles modular. In other words, the cabin should be separable from the upper body so that it is easier to make changes as technology advances. Or it can be changed with different cabin designs for sports, cargo and passenger transportation... It should even be able to be made unmanned, drop cargo boxes with parachutes from the air, or be used as fire extinguishers.
