I agree. As stated in the video, this is apparently the one figure in the line so far that the 4HM oversaw, and the difference really shows. I wish that had been involved with all of the figures.
He's the best one so far from this line to me. Skelegod doesn't look bad, but he doesn't look like he belongs in Motu. Skeletor doesn't look bad but the paintjob on his face is awful. He-man, as I've harped on about in the past, looks like he has the face of a spoiled ten year old on a man's body... This Moss man though is pretty solid all around
I Love this redesign soooooo much! He’s very much has a Swamp Thing vibe to him which is a great character himself. I love the tree feet and all the little twigs jutting out of him. This figure alone got me into this figure line. The four horsemen connection doesn’t surprise me.
Moss man looks pretty cool I gotta admit…four horseman’s are the best it’s a shame they weren’t involved in the whole line, and it does show with the other figures
Whilst I wouldn't necessarily want the entire line to be 4H-driven, as I think it's good to have influences from other designers, particularly for such a refresh of the brand, I totally agree that their quality shines through here and it's a shame they weren't involved more with the others - Evil Lyn and Skeletor are okayish (but growing on me), but He-Man himself is a real disappointment.
I remember when I used to watch the cartoon in the morning, eating ceral out of my He-Man bowl with all my model's lined up, oh yeah that was this morning...
I'm willing to bet that the only reason Mossman is getting a big push now is that Kevin Smith probably had him as a kid. I bet if Dan made a MOTU show Ninjor would be a main character or something.
I love this Multiverse Moss Man because all new body unique sculpt. I think a new interchangable head like the unique from MOTU classics could be a perfect Moss Man.
So happy Mossman isn't an exclusive that would be hard to get! One of my favorite characters in MOTU! Love how he looks inspired by the 200x animated Mossy with the, uh, "root power"? Anyway, Shout out to the Horsemen! Thanks Dan for the great review!
Nice to get a Moss Man that isn't just a green Beast Man. I wish the lighter green parts were flocked though. I'd rather one less hand and instead a mace.
While this figure differs greatly from Mossman's animated appearance in the 200X cartoon, in broad terms, this seems like the closest figure that we've gotten that is conceptually similar to that incarnation of him. He had various other plant elements in his design and had many interesting plant-based powers. The alternate vine hand (weight issues aside) with this figure seems to go in line with that depiction. While the MOTUC figure is great (especially with the alternate head and the vine-sash to give him more of his own unique look), I could see displaying this figure either with MOTUC figures (especially if using 200X versions with that heads pack, and maybe Snake Armor He-Man or parts swapping with MAA and He-Man with King Grayskull's body) or maybe even the 200X figures and stactions. If memory serves, he was depicted as being taller/bigger than most other characters in the 200X cartoon, so the scale difference with the Masterverse/Revelations figures would potentially work well in this instance.
@REFORMATTED 2086 Exactly! Look at Marvel and DC: Aquaman and Submariner, Deadpool and Death Stroke, X-Men and Doom Patrol. Creatives borrow from each other all the time, but you can still create unique characters from a similar idea.
Pixel Dan, the Masterverse Moss Man is the only wave 1 action figure that I'm interested in. If I see this one on the shelves, I'll pick it up. The Masterverse He-Man and Skeletor, I think, are both completely ruined by the head sculpt. If I'm not getting Masterverse He-Man, then I'm not getting Masterverse Battle Cat. I have to see the Master Evil Lyn in person, before I decide to buy her. At least for me, for Mattel not to hit it out of the park with Masterverse wave 1...yikes!
I like the way this one looks. That's an awesome comparison of all the versions that have been made over the decades. I didn't even know about the 200X Moss Man. That line was a disaster. I really hope that Origins and Masterverse have much better distribution. I'd be happy to buy all of them. I hope Mattel and the retail stores understand that and make them available. I can't buy what I can't find. I'm one of those fans/collectors that'll keep collecting for years. I hope they make these available.
Lets take a moment to appreciate that Alan Oppenheimer will be voicing him in the show....and that Moss Man would be one of last characters you'd expect Oppenheimer to voice in a new MOTU show.
I think he looks really cool. The vine feature is awesome, but doesn’t look like it works well as a hand. A better solution would have probably make it more of an attachment, so it kind of snapped on his forearm like it was growing from there then over his hand. I loved his character in the 2x series. He was kind of like that cooky all knowing guy (god) Frodo met towards the beginning of the the Hobbit.
If they cut out one accessory it wasn't for the cost of the paint deco, but because he's an entirely new mold, that's the most expensive part of the production.
Completely agree. Evil-Lyn is the other one that I think may be in that mix as well. I am conflicted about this line since both he-man and skeletor are not great.
I wish you would show his leg articulation kicking straight out in front. As far as I can tell you didn't really do that on any Masterverse figure. Only going out to the side. Just my 2 cents...
Moss Man's my favorite MOTU character and I think he looks rad as hell. Not too fussed about the flocking though it'd have been cool if they flocked just certain bits like the light green. Shame about the tree branch hand, though, that's a big point against it.
While it is a nice-looking figure, I feel the same way about Moss Man that you do about Panthor, Dan. He always needs to be flocked and have that nice smell. Otherwise, what’s the point? The whole purpose of the Moss Man/Stinkor gimmick in the first place was that one smelled good and the other one smelled bad. It’s what made them unique and why they were two of my favorite figures growing up. Just how I feel, personally. I’m still on the fence if I want all of the Masterverse figures. I picked up Skelegod at Target and he looks pretty cool; I will probably at least pick up He-Man and Skeletor, just because… He-Man and Skeletor! But I’m all in on Origins so that my son can have a complete MotU collection like I nearly did as a child!
The body looks very Swampthing, but the root hands and feet reminds me of LOTRS Treebeard. Still a welcomed addition to all things of the green world of character. 🌲
Moss Man has turned out to be my favourite of these first four releases and the only one currently on my "would like to get" list (Evil Lyn and Skeletor are slow growers; He-Man is a disappointment). Vintage Moss Man was a likable though never central character so it's surprising to see him included here so early (does it reflect how much he might feature in the new series?) - but I completely love what they've done with him. A terrific update (with some animated 200x-like style, as well as maybe some 200x Evilseed vibes as well, but without the horrible 200x warped-proportions-ness) yet despite this "new look" instantly still resembles his traditional look at the same time - THIS is how to do an update well! I initially wasn't sure about the lack of flocking but I like how it's allowed them to play with various details (I wouldn't mind betting a flocked variant/exclusive might appear at some point). The add-on "vines" accessory is rubbish - front heavy, doesn't attach well, and doesn't look that great IMO... I'd have far preferred they'd dropped this and given him his club/mace instead. But other than that easily the best of these first figures... such a shame the others haven't quite got this level of quality. I'll even dare to say that as much as I like the Classics version, this one might possibly be the best Moss Man figure ever (to date)!
In 200x he was a big, hulking character.(which I liked)In the original series he seemed shorter and kind of humped over and kind of like a green Sasquatch. In 200x he had Swamp Thing powers, now he resembles Swamp Thing too. Saw his bio in a pic on FB and it says he’s from PreEternia. Really surprised to see a usually minor character get a toy in the first wave but a cool looking design and toy
I thought the same but I think with Oppenheimer voicing him in a bit of legacy role he must have a bigger spot in the new show. Which would explain him being in the first wave. Just a guess though
Well for me I think Mossman is Masters version of Swampy so I glad he looks more like a creature of nature instead of just a flocked beastman Thou I also like the Classics Different head. But out of the four I am liking this Mossman the most as a more unquie version of him.
i can't help but wish they had involved the horsemen in the production of the he-man and skeletor figures too... at least the heads. i like this figure overall except the two tone torso looks like too much like a girly halter top :)
Hey Dan, remember, THIS is who the OG Skeletor will be voicing. Alan Oppenheimer will still be part of the new show. Even IF he's not reprising his role.
My favorite Mossy is the Classics but sucks we didn’t get a proper 200x one which I would have loved! But this one looks awesome as well! Swamp Thing like
Another great review PD.👍 Moss Man looks great as expected because of the Four Horseman involvement. If I have one nit pick is that while Skeletor suffer from unproportional chest to abdomen, Moss Man abdomen is to small (reminds me of McFarlane ZSJL Darkseid figure). Moss Man ends up nice, I wish you were abke to bring out Classics Evil Seed and Club Grayskull Evil Seed for some fun action poses, vine wars galore.
HeMan looks like the "It's Ma'am"! Action figure from that Game Stop meltdown viral video. This figure is the best, he doesn't look like a gangrene GI Joe thank goodness.

When Moss Man looks better than the main figures. Great job.
Agreed, it is the onbe I most liked so far. Only Evil Lynn might be better.
He always kind of did with that amazing green flocking. hehe
Lol
You know the show is going to be garbage lol
For some reason my local toy store had these on sale for $5 each. I scooped up he-man, skeletor and Moss man all new in box
For me he's the first good looking figure in the line.
agree
Agree, probably because his body has more details and paint than the others
I agree. As stated in the video, this is apparently the one figure in the line so far that the 4HM oversaw, and the difference really shows. I wish that had been involved with all of the figures.
@@Futuredynamo why didn't they just do the whole line? why just one figure?
Evil Lyn looks really good too
He's the best one so far from this line to me. Skelegod doesn't look bad, but he doesn't look like he belongs in Motu. Skeletor doesn't look bad but the paintjob on his face is awful. What a difference a year makes. MM still looks good but this line has gotten REALLY good.
I Love this redesign soooooo much! He’s very much has a Swamp Thing vibe to him which is a great character himself. I love the tree feet and all the little twigs jutting out of him. This figure alone got me into this figure line. The four horsemen connection doesn’t surprise me.
Classics Mossman is a masterpiece.
I have to admit, I've never got into MOTU but your love and admiration for the franchise really makes me wanna jump in! Thanks, Pixel Dan!
Moss man looks pretty cool I gotta admit…four horseman’s are the best it’s a shame they weren’t involved in the whole line, and it does show with the other figures
Thank god they weren’t or these would all be same as classics
@@Emolga6274 They were involved with the 200x designs so that's not at all true.
they probably would have perfectly captured the awesome look of the cartoon...

The old Moss Man smells like flowers.

I'm willing to bet that the only reason Mossman is getting a big push now is that Kevin Smith probably had him as a kid. I bet if Dan made a MOTU show Ninjor would be a main character or something.
You realize he was a teenager when He-Man was originally out, yeah?
Kevin Smith loves Alan Moores run on Swamp Thing, so this design is probably homage to that, best figure in this wave IMO

I agree with your sentiment on the flocking. However, I think it would have been AMAZING if they just flocked the lighter greens on him for variety.

Yeah, I wish they had done a clip attachment like Super 7’s evil seed, or did his club instead. (A 200x accurate one would be sick!)
Swamp Thing wants his body back :P
I just picked mine up on clearance for $11.00. Can't wait for it to arrive. That 2010 Classics version is nice. Totally missed out on that line.
Masterverse has gotten SO GOOD lately, it’s like a second chance at Classics level figures for those of us who missed out on that run.
Awesome 🤩
Thanks as always, PD!👍👍

Yaasssss! This figure looks incredible!!! Thanks for Posting, as always Dan!
Getting this tommorow, thought I'd check it out early
I'm glad that he not just a flocked Beastman like we always get.
Will these be available for pre order on BBTS eventually because I don't know where I can preorder....
So, no pine scenting then? Bummer.
Imagine if Revelation Beast Man is a red repaint of Moss Man 🤣
haha possible

what about availability in stores in Europe?

I want to repaint this one too. Go back to the yellow belt and dark brown loin cloth. Would be a better look.

@@Emolga6274 artists can work in different styles. look at tmnt ultimates for example - four horsemen. mythic legions, 200X motu, etc. all horsemen.

I just got me a MOSSMAN tonight finally I'm looking forward to a trap jaw or stinkor and web stor
The 4 Horsemen should've done all the figures for this line
It’s cool but it should’ve been flocked in my opinion…
Great video! 👍
really wish classics would have done a chase moss man unflocked, it just looked so much better. have a chance for origins to do it
I'm glad they made him more unique figure wise. Happy to have a moss man and not a green beastman🤣
Warm up accessory, add a screw into the peg. Should be more stable at least at the wrist
Pine scent not included. Get yourself an Airwick diffuser and some pine scented refills to achieve that piney goodness
Who sculpts these figures?
Moss man four horsemen
Moss man should always have flock
Buying this to go with my origins figures. Scale doesn't bother me because he should actually be even taller as depicted in the Netflix show.
Dan if you need him to hold something you can always go outside and grab a few sticks off the ground - plant people are easy to accessorise!
I wish FH had designed them all. Finally a decent figure.
My favorite Mossy is the Classics but sucks we didn’t get a proper 200x one which I would have loved! But this one looks awesome as well! Swamp Thing like
Scary looking
Another great review PD.👍
Moss Man looks great as expected because of the Four Horseman involvement. Moss Man ends up nice, I wish you were abke to bring out Classics Evil Seed and Club Grayskull Evil Seed for some fun action poses, vine wars galore.

This figure is the best, he doesn't look like a gangrene GI Joe thank goodness.
Looking forward to buying this and once I get it in flocking it. Not a fan of the tree stump feet nor 4 finger hands.
i love these figures!!!!
It looks like a movie version!
Great review
It still would be great to have that moss man with flock or I call filt.
kevin smith is a huge fan of alan moore's run on swamp thing so i bet moss man plays a huge part in the new series, hence why he is wave one.
Lol not quite
I think this is my second favorite mozz man but not a fan of the feet definitely has some swamp thing vibes
Not crazy about the 4 almost clashing shades of green. Looks a bit discombobulated (and I feel the same about Skelegod, who I think looks kitbashed from random parts). I'd have preferred the "vegetation" parts of Moss Man to have tighter color unity (maybe some subtle washes instead of the district colors). They could have skipped the big "vine hand" and just given him a sceptre or something, and I think that would have been fine. I bet someone could do a custom paint job on this figure, and it would look amazing. Still great to be getting new MOTU figures, even with the nitpicks.
No mention of how he doesn’t have the pine smell
This Moss Man is not flocked like his previous releases.

Line is definitely overhyped..the "new figure line" factor is jedi mind tricking the weak.
It's a great sculpt, I'm sure 4H thought it would be flocked
Classics!
I never did like the articulation at the ankles. Because I've had figures that is or go to lose and it hard for them to stand up.
These are great, mattel knocked them out of the park!
Thanks for the review.
