Great information. I can attest that this is correct. We get new chicks every spring. We get the as soon as our feed mill starts the ordering process. We also leave a light on all winter long. And where we live, the south shore of Lake Superior in Michigan, we have very long winters and a ton of snow, just had snow yesterday and are expecting more later this week. With the amount of snow we get it is hard to clean out the coop because of having no where to put the bedding so we clean out the coop in the spring just as soon as we can get to the garden. And again in the fall (we free range them all spring, summer and fall and any day in the winter that gets about 32 degrees). Just this past three days we collected almost 120 eggs. Yes we sell them to our friends and neighbors at $3.00 a dozen. Keep up the good work and thank you.
Good to see you back! Spot on with this information, and your hens look really happy, but they would be with the excellent care you are giving them, they are the very best clearers on weed patches as well, and the grubs they find in the long grass gives them an extra treat. Chris B.

Some friends in Wittman, AZ, have Araucana. Those usually do best where they have some snow to scratch in, LOL, but they get good lay even in summer. I like the idea of feeding bugs like mealworms, but would raise my own. Tell the kid to add on a part on the new house where you can do that. Up in Penna many a decade ago, Mom had 500 layers and always few hot, wet mash every morning. She got good lay all winter and summer. Spent layers and extra roosters were sold to Hispanics and others down in Allentown, PA. I think the current price is 5/pound liveweight. Definitely do your own hatching! Hasta, nieta!

We have on hen (Speedy) that started laying and we got about 2 dozen eggs from her and now she has stopped laying. All the other girls are still laying great we are still getting eggs from them every day. Speedy is at the bottom of the pecking order as she was the last hen introduced into the flock. Any idea what we can do to get her started laying again?
Something interesting that happened with my chickens which are mixed breeds - they were only producing 1 - 2 eggs per day out of 16 chickens, even the young ones. This was happening for about 4 months. Then my partner bought one Isa brown and one australorp. They settled in nicely, no pecking! Well, after 2 days, I am getting 6 - 7 eggs a day! This has continued for a few weeks now. I can only put it down to competition. What would you say has happened?
I have two chickens then. 1 Plymouth white rock she lays eggs on her roost witch breaks the egg how do I get her to lay eggs in her boxes again? And a Rhode Island Red she is around 1 year of age and has not laid a egg in the two months I’ve had her never even went to the boxes to lay in them. How do I help her? It could be stress but it’s the fact she shows no interest in the boxes at all
@Farm Mom housing is important as well. Keep from drafts in winter and most important just keep them happy and will definitely get more eggs. Keep up the good videos.

Is giving them green stuff to eat ok i give mine sand an 22%laying pellets an have 15 in the incabator days 15 in so far

If you feed them the right food during the right time of the year then you will get eggs all year round.
