this feels less about a war and more about mental anguish and being forced to be medicated and the song is in the perspective of some one with depression and paranoia and schizophrenia, and said person is in an abusive relationship (with an overly religious person)that is making them suicidal

But I heard this and I was like "Holy fucking shit" scared the fuck out of me I found it back in 08 09 and I fell in love with korn slipknot and a classmate tells me check out this band otep and I did and bruh I never heard what sounded like "blackened Nu metal" is what I called it totally original u won't hear anyone else say it that is a Jeff original and I felt the fear i had when I heard a loud ass muscle engine roaring down the block past me I wanna say 8ft from the car the street vibrated through my feet up to my chest. When I heard this i was reminded of raw unadulterated power to quote Dom "it scared the shit out of me"
Most likely the lyrics because soad is heavy no doubt but this is fucking brutal. Instrument sounds when u compare the 2 this makes soad and every nu metal band including slipknot sound like breaking Benjamin and green day in comparison. No offense I love all heavy music and Alt rock but be real for a second

+drago2021 How is it not death metal? That riffing style is definitely death metal, sounds more like Morbid Angel than it does Slipknot. The most nu metally thing about it are actually the vocals, and they are still close to death growls at parts.
ganondorfchampin definitely death metal. Not that all of otep is, but this song is death metal, sometimes the vocals stray into some grey area, but even the message aligns pretty well with death metal vibes.
