Love the realism of this - what nearly all windsurfing is about. Some gybes plane out, some don’t, sometimes in the gusts, sometimes not. All of it’s fun!

Ah, totally with you on this, you don't need the strongest wind for the most pleasure. Windsurfing is not a linear sport where the more wind the better it gets, there is this kind of optimum balance between wind speed, wind consistency, how flat the water stays. For me, it's more in the range of 15knots wind with a 7 something sail and pure cruising.
Lovely. As a 50++ quite rusty rider, I gotta say sessions like this one are the best for the brain indeed. Nothing fancy, you don't try anything, you're not fighting to survive 45 knts, not trying to be the fastest anywhere,... Just enjoying the pure grace of the moment, adjusting stance, balance, just feeling part of "it" all. And yes, you feel definitely 200% better after. Should be refund by social security ! (The gear I mean)

Freeride! I love freeride gear in flat water, soul windsurfig and a smile back on the face, enduro one of the best sail i got (7.1). Thanks for sharing Ben🤙
If you think that a big freeride board and a 5.9 is too boaring you are missing out on a lot of good times :-) You capture the feeling perfectly :-) As we get older and wiser we understand that its not all about big waves and strong winds all the time :-) Thanks !
Along with my two Helix I also have the Freemove 116 DS (G6) which I use with my Enduro 5.9 and 6.5... what a joy, the simple and exciting pleasure of Wind-Surfing… Just For Fun ☀️💙😍 Enjoy Ben 😉 Dejan 🤙🏼
I can only agree. I love waves and strong winds if I get them. But sometimes, stealing the freeride board which I bought for my son (with a carbon fin on) and cruising like this is an amazing feeling.

Looks like a lovelly session to me, very zen. I love the way good windsurfers can just hang in their harness locked in and cruise. I can never seem to get this as always pulling with the front or rear arm on the boom and end up feeling like I’ve done a severe weights session. Maybe a video with some tips on that?
What I think it boils down to is you are a new dad and windsurfing in even the most average of conditions gives any dad a moment of peace, knowing that for a brief time you are actually disconnected from the continent and everything on it.
last time i was in Portugal (Luz) was3 years ago but then i didnt winsurf yet, a friend of mine is living in Luz.. next time i visit him i take my windsurfgear
Better still, leave the GPS watch and the GoPro cameras at home. Just have fun, read the wind, fell the sunshine on your face, and clear your head. The reason most of us go windsurfing is simply to find personal space. We should never forget that.

We were looking at Cape Verde but having seen a couple of your videos I really fancy Portugal. Looking for Slalom or bump and jump type conditions with somewhere to hire. Would really appreciate your local knowledge and any recommendations you might have. Was is Viana Do Castello in your 2020 video?
Hi mate.. Viana Do Castello is a great place... hotel (feel Viana) right on the beach good gear and all the toys. obviously you never know with the weather but May is a good time to go for sun and wind.
