- It's finally warmed up and I was able to put this video together that many of you have asked for. I hope some of you find this video helpful. I've never made a video like this before so I tried to keep it simple without going into too much detail. I'm by no means a professional, I do however think wheelies are a good skill to have because it's another level control you can achieve with your machine.
I'm sure theres more tips and tricks people can think of so feel free to share them in the comments!

Reminds me of back when i was a kid watching my father going up and down our way out no traffic back country road we lived on. I sure did think the world of my dad for doing that stuff flying by 80 mph it seemed while wheelying past the house and jumping the large hill crest an 1/8th mile down the road. R.i.p dad. I love u
My cousin died doing this when he was trying to teach it to me ive been terrified of quads since then but now i have no fear and must carry on❤️🐐
zKvrse yo r.i.p to your cousin died doin what he loved which is the best way to go
Shit R.I.P bro keep pushing don’t stop
zKvrse Aw, sorry man. Hope you do better.
Can’t tell if your trolling or not but if it’s true, I’m very sorry for your loss
i dont fucking care
never could change gears while riding a wheelie lol u make it look effortless. thumbs up pete.
Me either! Too sketchy! Maybe in the future....
B Breckner can you now?
he sure does :)
Raptor man get ur head in the game get it out ur ass 🤣🤣👌jj love ya brother
@@3viz404 lmfao love ya cuz
Cover the break in 1st gear and purposely pop the front end up to high and force your self to hit the break! It will develop your muscle memory. Do this over and over for a few hours and you will be rideing high speed wheelies in no time! It will get you over the fear once you realize you can always save yourself from flipping backwards! Anyway good stuff Pete!
you prolly dont care but does anybody know of a tool to get back into an instagram account?
I was stupid lost the password. I appreciate any tricks you can offer me!
@Andres Justus Instablaster ;)
@Archer Nickolas thanks so much for your reply. I found the site on google and Im in the hacking process atm.
I see it takes a while so I will reply here later with my results.
@Archer Nickolas It worked and I actually got access to my account again. I am so happy!
Thanks so much, you really help me out :D
@Andres Justus No problem =)
I think this is the best wheelie tutorial video I've seen yet. great job
Lol your gonna have to send it now!
@@bbreckner9884 I'm not that good I've rode along time just never got into wheelies until lately I'm practicing though
Agree :)
Moto Michelle this is a terrible tutorial lmfao, standing during a wheelie can be very dangerous. what happens if you stall? no brakes
@@jadrz2784 you fall off 😂
Then do it again 😃😃
This helped a lot! I have an ACE K125 and this helped me get the front end up!
That last wheelie was freekin awesome!
safety first, love it bud, cool video!
This is one area, where I definitely need some practice! When I was in my 20's, I could wheelie all day, and not even think about it. But now that I'm in my 40's, I can't help but think about the consequences of screwing up! I have wheelied off camera a few times( nothing to brag about though) here recently, and plan to spend some time getting comfortable doing it again. It's a skill that's needed for serious trail riding.
If you could do it back in the day I bet you'd be surprised how fast the muscle memory would come back! Its definitely a good skill to have in many instances on the trails!
@@PeteHager True! I know I can still do it, just need some practice getting my timing right, so I don't have to work so hard to keep it up. I've got to get some new tires as well! I have a hard time getting enough traction to pull it up, without running the tires slack. it's time to retire the stock tires though, lol. They are worn out!
Riding at that farm house looks like tons of fun man🤘
You did a wheelie good job making this video man
Just got my first sport quad and this is so helpful
Congrats on getting your first sport quad man! Ride safe and glad I could give you a few tips! 👍
Never had a "quad"(grew up on sportsmans) just picked up a raptor 250 to play around on and pass to my kids. Surprised that little thing popped up the front end end 2nd gear! Thanks for the tips I cant wait to actually try to ride one out lol
Because of your videos on the 700 R raptor I am going To pick one up this weekend
That’s awesome to hear man! I’m stoked for ya 🤟
Did you get it
awesome video and explanation. I personally don't feel comfortable yet doing wheelies for other than just a quick pop because I'm going down something I need to touch the rear tires first (like dropping from elevations). We'll see in the future!
Dude this video taught me how to do low gear wheelies in about 10 minutes today. Still have alot to learn but I felt alot more comfortable attempting them with your methods and it definitely helped alot! Thanks!
2017 raptor 700R btw!
Thats so awesome to hear man! Glad I could help. I'm not nearly as skilled as some riders are with the slower wheelies though, I just like the fast ones haha
Just starting slow, don't feel comfortable yet doing higher speeds. Will with time.
Thats the right way to do it! 👍
That opening stand-up wheelie was BUTTER hahaha. Very nice.
Good vid bro, will be trying this over the weekend
I like your videos man nice content especially when you try or race against other machines ! Honestly i think you got the best atv content in your videos! Nice quality and great trails also ! Im
New on your channel !! Keep up the good work !
Gino Pietropaolo thanks for the positivity man 🤟
The technique i use on wheelie while i setting down i use the clutch to do wheelies for a slow wheelie and i can shift and control the gear transmission as i want i love ur video ❤️
Awesome!! It’s much easier to run those controls when your sitting down👍
I'm not new to wheelies but found the video interesting anyway. I also have a scrambler (I miss having a manual clutch considering a Honda 400ex sometime) and yes they more difficult to wheelie. Mine has a lot of wheel speed and needs to be pretty dry out or on pavement or else it will just spin. Another nice video. Keep em coming Pete!
very nice vid man i like the way u speak and explain
I’m not a Yamaha fan, but i do love this channel and the content, with all the clips and what not i know it takes time. just know it’s appreciated, keep it up 👍🤘👌
Thanks man! Hopefully you’ll get to see a diverse group of quads and SxS’s on the channel this summer when I go on group rides 👍
I'm not a Yamaha fan either I like hondas
Great video :)
I love my Raptor :)
I love mines too. If anyone doesn't love a raptor then they are just crazy
Great video as always man. Hope to get to ride with you some time this season.
Love your videos
awesome video thank you 👍🏽
Great video, gunna keep practising on my 250 can just about get it up for a few seconds haha
Beautiful Raptor.
Thanks you!
I've killed 3 of my grab bars from wheelies and pretty much gave up on it but now I'm going to try again thanks to your guidance! Lol
I went through the same experience getting to where I am now. My scrambler grab bar definitely got beat up and I wheelied my KTM over a handful of times. You'll get there
@@PeteHager what hight to you have your foot break at? I have trouble with not being able to to press it when starting to go backwards! maybe I have mine to low
The only time I were to use my rear break would be in an emergency. For all the wheelies in the video I never used the rear brake at all
Great video little harder on a 2 stroke with the slow ones....wheelies are very addictive for sure....Shifting takes timing and practice
Learned on a 250X then graduated to 250R and Banshee wheelies. 4 strokes are ao much easier to wheelie it is like cheating. Gotta work the clutch throttle balance and rear brake
Great video. Thank you
I taught my buddy how to wheelie his recon 250 and its hilarious😂😂
do you got a vid of it
My friend has the same quad and I learned on his 😂
Great video I love your sled
Thanks. Very helpful!
AWESOME!!!! Very well explaned, thank you for good video ! ;) saving this video :D
THIS HELPED A LOT. I HAVE A TON OF FLAT LAND AND IM GONNA PRACTICE. THANS
this was super helpful
The scientist of bike life
Foot in the grab bar and other down by rear brake is for sure the easiest to start, getting it up is quick to happen, but for the carb quads it’s kinda time consuming to learn the feathering of the throttle and learning the delay of the carb vs fuel injected, he mentions it a lot and timing takes time, good luck. I’ve ordered a xfr wide grab bar to help protect the rear and since I have the pure Polaris exhaust on my predator 500 it sticks out several inches farther, just a point while practicing cause you will go back to far if ya don’t hit the brake in time but having your foot in the grab bar it will allow you to so called walk the quad
Im going to try the foot in the grab bar i think :)
Love this vid, just picked up my first race quad. Got me a Raptor 700R SE
Congrats man! have fun on your new Raptor! 😊
Awesome Video!
Awesome wheelies bro!!
Agree :)
For a scrambler sence they have a belt drive transmission you hold the front break get high rpm's and let go of the break and jerk on the handle bars.
P.s a scrambler 1000r is a really good quad great for trails and they ride really smooth
Great video
Great video.
Just bought my 2020 yfz 450 let’s see if I can get this down great vid man !
Congrats on getting a new 2020 YFZ man! Your supporting the savesportquad movement! Keep the rubber side down and have fun rippin 🤘
Nice raptor!! 👍🏼
Nice video bro 🔥 got the same quad
Am knew to this I have a question are quad and vanchee the same ?🧐
Humble Heart banshee is a type of quad made by Yamaha and is 2stoke motor instead of the normal 4 stroke.
Nice bro. Your a true ripper. I love that s....t
Nice.. you are PRO brother 👌👌👌
Thank you so much I now know how to do a wheelie
Ive been wheelying on a 2003 kawasaki 360 2wd, And i did my first wheely today and i did wheelys all day, so im here now😂
thanks for your tips :)
Great video! You have a new subscriber!
Luis Medina thanks man🤟
Pete I'm a huge subscriber and I'm always watching your videos the end of this video you doing the wheelie on the iced lake was so cool ..keep bring them on..do you have a name you call your raptor?
Man I wish I would have seen this video before I spent way too much time trying to figure it out myself.
Nice wheelie tutorial
Just picked up my first Yamaha, the 2020 yfz450r se... Not too crazy about the colors I had to choose from ( i choose the red/grey ).. I’ve only rode it onto my trailer at the dealers, but I am going to try some of your techniques once I start ripn.. Thanks for this video..
How has its been with that quad? I just copped a 2013 yfz 450
i watched this video 1hr ago and was like heak i jumped on my suzuki lt160 and put my foot in the back bar and it was AMAZING XD XD BTW I LEARNED TO WHEELIE AND SHIFT OVERNIGHT in 2 hrs this video was great thans
16th rider Is your pfp the result of learning?
This was wheelie good 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Im gna go practice now lol
lol :)
me too
Nice wheelies man.
There is barely any snow where you are. I'm in Canada and the snow us taking forever to melt
Thanks man! I'm only an hour north of the Iowa. Theres still a lot of snow in northern Minnesota. I'm not complaining lol
@@PeteHager Haha great. I ride a raptor 700r SE but it's an 07.
come on Summer lol :)
@@offroadadventures8251 i ride a raptor 700r 2015 :) they are the best
I have a Honda 400ex and I just pull it up in 2nd and as soon as it’s about where it needs to be I shift to 3rd and it works for me but I’m 13 so I can’t really do high gear wheelies not big enough 😂
Great channel same style i do wheelies while i stand but sitting i clutch up allows me to run through gears like you mentioned standing up its tricky why its better to stand to do fly by wheelies!!
Nice videos 👍🏁
Thanks for the clean explanation man
Good fucken video...
Your Welcome 👍
good video ;D I try tommorow
:) Me too
I’m getting a 2020 Raptor 700 in March I’m hyped af
wooo!! that's awesome man!!
Pete Hager lmao dude I didn’t even know I said this on your Chanel twice. I came across your Chanel 2 times definitely going to sub 👍 and just watched your Video on cleaning your Raptor, that’s a crazy nice quad 😍
Tommy Kula thanks man! There’s some fun videos that have been made in the last year! I’ve crashed in 3 of them so you’ll have to find them 😅😉
Pete Hager 😂 For sure! Definitely going to binge watch until I get my quad😂 Also I love the HMF Exhaust! How much was it? Thinking about putting one on mine when I get it
I ride my quad since 2021 and your videos taught me how to drift but i am scared of a wheelie.( i am 12)
Im still looking this up when i started 2 days ago
Great videos, I really enjoy watching them! What bar bend are those pro tapers?
Thanks, keep up the great work!
Tom
Sorry for my late response. They're the Pro Taper contour in the "ATV Mid" bend. I'm about 5'10 and I thought they seemed kind of low at first but I've happily gotten used to them. If your taller then me I would recommended the "ATV High" or "Raptor Bend". You also need oversized clamps for the oversized bars. I have everything linked down below. Just make sure you source the appropriate bar height 👍
@@PeteHager
Hi Pete, thanks for getting back to me! I will be getting a 2020 raptor once our travel restrictions are lifted. I'm 5'9" so I think they will work great. Keep the great videos coming! Thank you for your time and sharing your information. Be safe and have fun!
Thanks again!
Tom Jarels
Awesome
Dirt or grass would surely be better on the body and the quad if you fell off or went to far backwards but for me, learning to wheelie on the asphalt was easier at getting the front to come up and hold it because of the traction factor. Also I found wheeling along a fence line help me to identify the balance point by sitting on the seat and looking at the front fender in reference to the top of the fence line while feeling the balance point. Of course everyone grasps it differently. I think your explanation is great and always love your vids. You're gonna influence me to get another 700r. Lol.
kelly kilpatrick thanks for the feedback and your totally correct about the traction. Gravel is probably the hardest surface to do this on. I definitely like doing it on the pavement as well, it’s much easier to be smooth 👍
@@PeteHager yeah man for sure 👍👍
6th gear wheelies.... You must be fast cuz I was Hauling azz when I passed u....😎
When sitting looking under fender or front tire works for me
How do you like the HMF, and is the bike programmed, looking to add pipe to my 2015 700r....Great video!!!!
I like the HMF, I knew it would sound the way I wanted so thats the main reason I went with them. I have the power commander 5, everything has been running good!
One big thing is make sure ur front end is tight and true cause coming g down at high speeds will dump u
It was easy for me to learn in sand with paddles on raptor 250 and now I can hold it for 9 yards
Sand would be an awesome surface to learn and practice on! 👍
Pete Hager I wrecked the first 2 try’s but the third time I got it
@@PeteHager been 2 years and now on my ltz434 i can wheelie for miles
do you think i should be looking for a yamaha raptro 700/700r or a can am ds 450?
Great video as always. I don't do the wheelies. I'm too old...lol. I'm more into sliding and hill climbing
lol yes sliding is fun :)
Chad you better show up with your 2019 one of these times! lol
Been watching your videos for a few months now an just noticed your from Minnesota! We have a good Friday ride outside Superior WI! Let me know if you are interested!
Definitely interested! I rode near superior Wisconsin many years ago and it was some of the best riding i've ever done! Shoot me a facebook friend request so we can stay in touch!
Will do. Allen olaf jensrud
I was driving my atv on a pasture yesterday. I have polaris 570 sportsman. My pasture is kind of steep. I went downhill and made a quick left turn up the hill, put full throtle and sudenly was driving on a two wheels half of the time. This was not my atention and i almost craped my pants. I just bought the machi e..
One thing to note and I'm kinda surprised Pete never mentioned this...if you are new to doing wheelies and you do the foot in the grab bar method, this is a good way to start as in that position it's much easier to step off if front end gets too high and even bail if you need to to save yourself from injury
Good advice! Definitely a good factor when doing slower wheelies if your new. Much easer to hop off the back and bail
thx you
I really wanna learn to wheelie but I don’t know if I’m willing to put the 2020 raptor at risk. It’s to new of a unit if I crash it it’s gonna bum me out.
🔥🔥🔥
Wheeling is one thing but how do you ride on the just the two side wheels
Pete can you make a video on your bros Renegade on how to properly and safety pop a wheelie on one of those!
Renegade Mike isn't my brother, he's just a good friend! I could see about him wearing the microphone this spring and maybe explaining his process while riding 👍
@@PeteHager I was saying bro as in friend lol, that’s just what I say lol and okay cool, I’m not new to riding ATV’s but I’ll be new to an ATV with that much power and I want to learn how to safely pop wheelies and your videos be amazing. Of course practice will be good but watching some videos will help.
"hey alex" LMFAO
My. Built 660 2nd 3rd gear all day at tiny bit of throttle .have to weight it down to keep it down
Love the handlebars ,where did you put the ignition cylinder?.Want to put them on my raptor.
Thanks! If you look at the first person shots near the end you’ll see it’s relocated on the front left fender in the top right corner of the bigger warning plate👍
My dad was chocked at seeing me wheelie my trx450r at 13
I started riding wheelies at 13 on my 250X. Had to do it uphill so I could get the timing right.
If the bank lets me get the 700 raptor I’m going to quit drinking. Please oh please. I need a healthy addiction.
And of course they didn’t. Heh. Story of my life. Gotta love living this American dream. Should go back to selling drugs. Made more money. And it wasn’t taxed.
Cody Call bruh you dont need the raptor 700 to do wheelies you can do wheelies on a 125 if you are really trying
I can do a wheelie on a fucking 50
And have to owe the bank later not good
Maybe you should nut up and quit blaming the world for your shīt life. No man I know, care about or respect has any sympothy for a pity fueled, self loathing idiot. Good luck 🙊
With a sport quad, would I be able to off road close to what a dirt bike can do? And ride in a ok amount of snow? Or ride in a farm field? And do decent mudding?
And any suggestions on a sport quad? I just want one to causally ride around with my buddy’s in the farm field’s
dirt bikes are on another level. I'm not an experienced dirt biker but I've ridden with them and they're very capable. They're much faster than quads in rough terrain. I've always loved quads and I think they're super fun to ride, there's just something about power sliding that is so priceless. Sport quads do okay in snow but 4x4's work way better, same goes for mudding.
If your adamant on a sport quad and have limited experience it may be wise to start with something like a Honda 400ex or a Suzuki Z400. They're great starter quads because they're reliable and affordable. If you want something with more power then it's hard to be the reliability of the Raptor 700. Otherwise you could go the sport 4x4 route like the Can Am Renegade 1000 or Polaris Scrambler 1000. Once again, if you're a newer rider it's wise to start with a less powerful machine. Also consider what machines your buddies are riding. If they're all on 4x4's you may want to run a similar machine otherwise a sport quad could struggle at times
Do you need to pop the clutch or just pull back and give gas ?
Wheelie machine !
Hey quick question l just bought a new 2021 Raptor and the pipe is burning of my leg l bought the air block off kit and was wondering if there is a different pipe that would help and l wiu be doing the efi remapping thanks and l really appreciate your chanel happy trails
Hey Rob, Thanks for watching my videos! Congrats on getting a new Raptor! I normally always ride with boots and riding pants so I don't notice the heat from the exhaust much at all. I'm not sure what you're wearing but most pipes are gonna give off the same amount of heat. I don't recommend heat wrapping your exhaust but some some guys do it. If you go that route I know you're supposed to leave the first portion of the header exposed so the heat can dissipate better. Some companies like Fourwerx make heat shields for the header as well 👍
Hey Pete! Are you running a stock sprocket setup?
I'm running a 15 tooth front sprocket now. When this was filmed I had stock gearing 👍
