I would vote for BCS. It's darker, more intense, with better-defined characters and more frightening and hateful villains.
I think you're mostly right, but I'm not so sure I'd describe BCS as much darker than BB. That final season of BB is very bleak.

I completely agree. They fit together amazingly and work so well.
I’m currently watching BCS for the first time (on S5) after finishing BB a few months ago. Being unbiased, honestly I like BCS more, the cinematography and visuals are noticeably better. Also I like how the show covers ‘2 worlds’ with Jimmy and his legal stuff, and then Mike with the cartel and Gus. Both are great but I’m genuinely enjoying Saul more

yeah I'm going to say one thing. I think you appreciate BCS more on rewatch. As good as BB is, IMO you get the pattern of walter white's pathology earlier. He basically has one speed - forward. If he hits a wall, he plows through it and one ups himself in the severity (and moral dubiousness) of his actions. So faking a fugue state turns letting jesse's love die, into poisoning a child and bombing a nursing home, into killing 10 people in custody. And so it becomes easier to predict what he is going to do.
As far as BCS goes, the story is a lot more ambiguous and a lot harder to predict. Jimmy/Saul's superpower is cleverness, and cleverness is harder to predict. And so you get the intricate scenes between him and the kettleman's, him and the DA wrt Huell, jimmy and kim both against howard, etc.
And since everything isn't life or death (until deep into the show) it doesn't need to be that 'action packed'. It can breathe, take its time. And ironically even though you know where the series is going, its believable that any single choice or moment, jimmy could end up NOT turning into Saul and go the right way. Whereas I could see Walt ending up the way he did around episode 3 of the first season.
So yeah, at first I thought that BB was the better show, but all the 'boring' stuff that you talk about really has a lot more rewatchability IMO.
Nailed it!! This is exactly what I felt. When I watched the two of them for the first time I was sure that BB is better. Now after rewatching BCS I really have no idea.
Also, Jimmy's character is more sympathetic coz he really cares about the the people in his life whereas Walt, if you think rationally, was basically a selfish, arrogant jerk who was directly responsible for bringing harm to the people in his life.
Jimmy was not directly responsible for the harm he brought to others and he created the Saul persona just to escape the guilt.
Walt is smart but Jimmy is clever
why didn't you title this video "breaking bad and better call saul summary" because that's basically all it is. The actual headline is relevant for like 2 minutes at the end of this 40 minute video
Here's a thought: There isn't two shows. We learn at the end of BCS that the entire universe is really about the journey of Saul. In essence, BB is 5 seasons of BCS. Remember, without Saul, Heisenberg would have never existed. Everything that happened centered on Saul pulling almost all the strings.

Breaking Bad is way too focused on Walt and Jesse's stories to be considered the same show as BCS. Especially in seasons 3 and 4, Saul is mostly relegated to being Skyler's sidekick who gives her bad ideas that she can one up.

The scene where Gus gets blown up by Hector is so good because up until then Hector would never ever look Gus in the eyes, but as soon as he locks eyes with Gus, Gus realizes something is up. It’s a small detail but it really makes the show that much better
I agree. Out of context it looks completely ridiculous, in context, it's one of the best directed, best paced, most cathartic moments I've ever seen in fiction
We all are supposed to hate Lydia, but she’s very important like she literally supplied the methylamine and her anxious personality and connections made her a threat to everybody, she would have anyone killed to save her ass

I think you confused Jesse being kicked from his Aunt's house in Season 2 because his parents found the meth lab with him being kicked from his parent's place because of Jake's joint in Season 1
I love character driven stories more. And when it comes to prequels I feel they need to be slower burned to really show and prove and let people sit on and think about the development and the events that shape us as people. And my biggest example also of actions being more consequential is Howard’s Death compared to flight 737 we knew it was Walter’s fault and he doesn’t really know or think about that at all or really think about it and the cast really doesn’t bring it up later. And even though it was only the last season Howard’s death really was an event that shaped the universe of the shows and characters from then on.
BB feels like the showrunners were still learning how to make the show. In BCS they perfected it and became masters in their craft
It's a matter of personal preferences. Both shows are incredible - the best that tv has to offer. I prefer the slower pace & character developments in BCS.

An incredibly valid argument can be made for each show being better...however, I take issue with the sex scenes in Breaking Bad being called "useless". Each one served a purpose in the storytelling and in fleshing out characters. Also, Lydia was amazingly important...she's the reason half the stuff in season 5 even took place.
How so? They were useless, though they weren't nearly as indulgent as some other movies and shows

- First sex scene in EP 1: shows how overlooked and disrespected Walt had become (or possibly had always been). Wife can't even give him all of her attention while giving the dude a hand job, and is more excited about stock prices rising than her husband rising lol. To add insult to injury, SHE blames HIM for him not getting excited by her unenthusiastic attempt to arouse him, saying to Walt "Are you even trying?"...is HE even trying? This sex scene helps drive home just how disrespected Walt has become in every aspect of his life.
- Second sex scene in EP 1 (at the end): Shows Walt becoming more assertive when he confidently initiates sex with Skyler. But it also serves to show that Walt is now on his way to becoming a different version of himself--Skyler even says "Walt!...Is that you?" at the very end, a clever way of announcing to the audience that Walt is indeed on his way to becoming "Heisenberg" even if we don't know who that is yet. It's a literally last second peek into where the character of Walt is going during the series.
- The sex scene in EP 7: Walt starts running his hand up Skyler's thigh in the middle of a school meeting and then robust sex in the car--next to a police car--it conveys two things about his character: one, that he has come a looooooooooong way from getting a disinterested hand job from his wife on his birthday, and thus has come a loooooooong way from the milquetoast disrespected school teacher we first met in episode 1...and two, the reason he has. His comment to Skyler about the sex in the car being so good was "because it's illegal" just underscores how addicted he is becoming to that part of his life now, the part that deals with danger not by being afraid of it, but by being excited by it.
I could easily go on.
The writers of BB / BCS are incredibly smart. Incredibly smart. They don't include any useless scenes in either of the shows. That's one of the things that make both shows so outstanding...no filler. Every scene feels as if you're learning more about the characters and more about the world they inhabit.

It's honestly hard. Breaking Bad will probably always be my favorite show. That being said, Better Call Saul is a masterpiece also. Vince is truly a master at his craft.
I think Breaking Bad is more gripping and probably has higher highs, but I think Better Call Saul is them perfecting their craft. I think it is the Better overall show and arguably more impressive for how well it complements and completes the BB universe.

Kim Wexler is an embodiment of the tremendous power of the hindsight.
Thanks to the backlash against Skyler, the writers bent over backwards to make sure that the audience love Kim to the point that she got the fanbase in every gender. Men love her because she’s strong and sexy and “not Skyler”. Women and the other genders love her for being a “feminist icon”.
But me? By the end of Better Call Saul, the show managed to successfully turn me into Chuck McGill. If Chuck McGill was mad at the world for treating Jimmy better than he deserves (but not our Jimmy, couldn’t be precious Jimmy), then I feel the same for Kim. I don’t understand why everyone keeps saying that Kim is a morally pure good person and an inspiring role model when she’s not. Did everyone just forgot that she’s very responsible to Howard’s death? And every time, the excuse is “Jimmy corrupted her” as if she’s not a grown ass 50 year old woman who has a free will of her own.
Couldn't agree more...I was never all that on-board with Kim as a character (not like seemingly everyone else, anyway) but I saw her importance to Jimmy's overall story starting around season 4 and by that time I grew to like her as a character a lot. But she started showing her selfish and conniving ways in season 2 when she basically backed-up Jimmy's gaslighting of his mentally ill brother, and did so because she knew she would personally gain from doing so. Didn't give a rat's ass about the truth, just cared about lining her own pockets. Which is brilliant foreshadowing for who she would eventually become before reverting back to the Kim Wexler of season 1 and (most of) season 2 (gaslighting Howard's widow at his own damn funeral was a perfect callback).
@@endorphinzz I just don’t like how the show tried their hardest to paint her as Jimmy’s victim after she dumped him even though she was the one who came up with the plan to screw over Howard in the first place. Like, come on, I get that the writers love her so much just like the audience but don’t paint her as a good guy when she’s not.
A 25 year old Jesse ruining his own life by joining drug business.
The audience: “He made his own bed. He must deal with it.”
A 50 year old Kim ruining her own life by scamming Howard.
The audience: “Oh no! That evil Jimmy corrupted her into doing this. She’s such a poor soul who can’t make a decision on her own.”
@@nont18411 - Eh, the audience may have felt that way but I don't think the show tried to make her into a victim of Jimmy.
They showed Jimmy trying to talk her out of the Howard plan, even having him say she wouldn't be able to live with herself if they went through with it. They showed several flashbacks of her interacting with her mom to give more of an explanation as to why she would be with Jimmy to begin with. When she broke it off with Jimmy she said they were bad together and everyone around them ends up getting hurt because of it. She even said she lied to Jimmy about Lalo still being alive for the superficial reason that "I was having too much fun!"...and when she said that she had a distinct vibe of disgust in herself. And Ironically enough, it took Jimmy calling her up years later and telling her she should be the one confessing to make her realize that turning her life around meant little if she didn't make things right when it came to Howard. I think the show did a pretty good job of showing she was responsible for her own actions.
@@endorphinzz Then what about in the finale that Jimmy said that nothing is her fault and took all the blames on himself in court? And we are supposed to consider that as a right choice for Jimmy to redeem himself. He could have just confessed his crimes without absolving her.
@@nont18411 - I took that as Jimmy trying to help save Kim moreso that the show trying to blame Jimmy for everything. If you remember, Kim never gave Jimmy up...when Howard's widow was talking to Kim after her confession, Kim says when taking about Jimmy "if he's still alive." She knows he is since she had just talked to him on the phone. She didn't give him up to save herself or to cut a deal, she took all responsibility, It could be that Jimmy realized Kim didn't rat on him in any way once he found out Kim had confessed...she kept him safe, in a way. So he returned the favor.

Breaking Bad has a slight edge for me only for the fact that the uncertainty of what was going to happen initially with the stakes of the show, just made it more gripping imo. Ofc there is still a ton of uncertainty of where BCS would go, and it’s an absolutely amazing character driven show that really shows what shaped the ones we loved. I can completely respect either answer. Point is, they’re both excellent.
Besides a couple mistakes like the fact you called Bolsa don Eladio and minor nitpicks this video was a very entertaining review of the breaking bad franchise and I enjoyed it very much 👍🏽

What's more important than which one is better is what these two shows do to each other. The creators did such an amazing job fitting things together like puzzle pieces that the two stories enrich one another. They add depth in so many places you didn't even know needed it. If you watch Breaking Bad and then Better Call Saul, you will view Breaking Bad differently if you watch it again. That's the true testament to this universe and these two shows. They are both better because the other one exists.

It's BCS for me because of how I can rewatch it. When watching BB I cant help myself but think "walt you idiot why are you doing this to yourself you narcissistic asshole I hate you" and when rewatching BCS i just think "oh no jimmy I know it's shit this happens to you but please make better choices man there is a good guy somewhere in there!"
That's true. It's also one of the reasons why I love BB season 1 more and more. Walter is just a more interesting character in that season, because he hasn't gone full blown cringy awful person, and by season 3, the show is ACTIVELY making fun of him. I love both shows, but BCS just takes the cake for me

Very underrated video, I watched so many of these essays on RUclips sort of out of love for these shows but after this video I don't need to watch any other one.. Well done.
While I’m only in season 5 of bcs, I prefer breaking bad due to how compact it is and how it didn’t waste time, better call Saul was a bit of slog at times and wasn’t as memorable as breaking bad, which left a much bigger impression on my then better call Saul, despite me knowing all of the key plot points and events they still hit hard, and while that did happen with chicanery, the fact that most big events all happen in season 6 isn’t something I’m too fond of as of now.
For me the best part of both shows was the saga with Chuck. I was really impressed how compelling it was without the life and death stakes of dealing with the cartel and stuff
This is quite a well done RUclips video! I really enjoy your writing and delivery of your script, but I did notice some stuttering or stumbling over words along with repeating some things. I’d recommend doing a few more takes to make everything just that little bit better. I do quite like the editing as well!

Y’all out here saying BCS is anywhere near BB are crazy. Breaking Bad is a linear and focused show you can easily describe in one sentence. Walter gets deeper into the meth game and lets his pride overtake him. Better call Saul feels so much more unfocused by comparison. First he’s doing elder law (snooze) then he’s messing with nacho or the kettelmans or the sandpiper case. Then he goes to some other shit. Then he’s messing with Chuck who’s just a total drag of a character. BCS only gets really good once gus shows up. But he works better in BB as he feels more mysterious and intimidating. Lalo is the best thing BCS has going for it but his character itself makes more of an impact than his actions.
BCS has so many self indulgent drawn out scenes. Breaking Bad does this but with tension. Take Grilled for example. It’s drawn out but it’s a life or death scenario. So it grips you. Better Call Saul makes you watch ten minutes of Mike fiddling with tech, but there’s no contextual tension so it feels unnecessarily drawn out. BCS falls victim to this time and time again. Another good example of effective tension is Box Cutter.
BCS is obviously an incredible show in its own rite, but BB is imo the best show ever, whereas bcs is just a really good show. It feels much more unfocused and often more drawn out and fillery. Bb has no filler whatsoever.
I think BCS has better characters than it does plot lines.
And don’t even get me started on the lack of payoff on the black and white scenes. The last two BCS episodes are great but building up to some low level heist of a store with the only roadblock being something we’ve seen before (the carpet thing that happened with Ted) just felt lame after building up to it the whole show

I mean, being simple enough to describe in one sentence versus not isn't necessarily good or bad. It's just different. Better Call Saul, at the end of the day, is a more complex show. Which doesn't necessarily make IT better either. Just different. I think that's the biggest problem. You're trying to compare apples and oranges. It's not the same show as Breaking Bad, it's not trying to be the same show as Breaking Bad either, and that's fine
@@MoneySandwich It wasn't really building to it the whole show. The Black and white scenes were about Gene's fear and sadness. The first 3 have basically no continuity, then he collapses at the end of 3. 4 and 5 are also about his encounter with the cab driver, and his lack of courage when compared with the downright arrogant Jimmy we are seeing in the present, as he rebrands himself as the flamboyant "Saul Goodman." They weren't building to anything as much as they were contrasting. The heist episode is about Gene starting to regain his confidence, and then by the end he has an easy out, and yet, he doesn't. He returns to his old life, and THAT'S the reason why he gets caught.
Also the heist itself is great. The carpet thing was seen before with Ted, but it was just some random gag where he got stopped. It's in a completely different context, by delaying Jeff and forcing Gene to distract/kind of open up.
Also also if you want to talk about black and white cold opens that have basically nothing to say and have a lack of payoff, let me remind you that we had not one, not two, not three, but FOUR needless black and white cold opens of a teddy bear in BB season 2

I’ve had many folks watch bb and just don’t finish bcs. They want that bb excitement, and bcs is just such a great slow burn. So worth it if you let it do its job.
BB is like pop music. It's more fun to watch, it's easy to enjoy, you can't take your eyes off the screen. But it's also easy to understand, there isn't a lot of ambiguity, and on rewatch there's not a lot more to notice. High quality, and straightforward. BCS is like jazz fusion. Super nuanced, different layers to analyze that give context to other layers, different styles presented back to back and different rhythms interfering with each other. It's more opaque, you have to read into what the characters are feeling vs what they're saying and doing, there's an acquired taste element, and it requires a lot more energy from the viewer. But the extra effort to receive the art makes it richer and more satisfying in the long run.
But sometimes, jazz fusion gets annoying and I just want to listen to some damn pop music so :) it doesn't mean one is better than the other
Easy, Breaking Bad. BCS was good,much better than I expected, but most ppl only even gave it a chance because they wanted to see backstories on already established characters they loved. Besides Nacho, what other original character did you actually LOVE? Kim? Even she was more of a grey character in the show full of nothing but grey characters that mostly showed their bad sides.
Also, everybody waiting in anticipation for multiple seasons, to see Walt and Jesse show up, and we only got that in the final season for a couple scenes. And, without breaking bad, their characters wouldn’t have mattered anyway in the show, as you only got excited after watching the rise and fall of them in another show over a period of 7-8 years.
Soul was still a good show, it was absolutely worth watching, but if the question is simply “which is better”, breaking bad without question
Not really, Lalo Salamanca is prolly the best most intimidating villain we got in the universe, Howard was great how were made to hate him but then you realise, he is just a guy trying his best. Breaking Bad is great but it only has 4-5 worthwhile fleshed out characters in like Jesse, Walt, Gus and Hank. Everyone else is pretty 2 dimensional.

Lalo was a great VILLAIN, Howard was HATED till he was shown as a regular guy. Kim was ok, but grey and a lot of her dark side was shown. BCS had no universally beloved character, there was no Jessie. It was still great, but again, if it’s a simple binary choice of “who is better“, breaking bad, without a doubt.

The fact that you got outwardly angry, because I have a different opinion about a fictional show, doesn’t mean I lack media literacy, it means you lack perspective and tolerance for other opinions.
Kim, Lalo, Howard, Chuck, the relationship between Jimmy and Chuck specifically, along with Nacho of course. I got a unique perspective of this show because I went in with no expectations regarding pre-existing characters, and the show was already fully released by the time I started watching. I think you'd have enjoyed the show more if you weren't waiting for Walter and Jesse to show up the whole time
They are two great works but I prefer Breaking Bad. Although they are two series that take place in the same universe, there is still a big difference between them. I would say that Breaking Bad is more fun to watch because it has a more hectic pace, more adrenaline rush, more action, twists, striking and iconic scenes, in addition to having 3 episodes ranked among the 10 best on television. Better Call Saul is slower paced, more focused on dialogue, more drama and is a more complex series. It's not that I don't like BCS, I think it's very good, but I much prefer the hectic and exciting pace of Breaking Bad. It's no wonder that Breaking Bad had several striking scenes and catchphrases while BCS had practically none. For me, Breaking Bad scored much more.
This question is like asking me to choose between my beloved children! How am I ever supposed to decide something of this magnitude in regards to things I love so deeply and equally. Better Call Saul.
The endings made it so Breakimg Bad was much better.
I personally think Breaking Bad is better but BCS is also one of my favorite shows of all time. I won’t knock anyone for saying BCS is better.

I found BB to be excellent from start to finish. BCS was hard for me to get through though, especially the first episodes. Felt like a poor man's Breaking Bad
what’s great is everyone has a different opinion personally i enjoyed breaking bad a lot more and enjoyed some things from better call saul but not all of it and btw i watched breaking bad then better call saul

I admire your passion for the shows but I think you should've rerecorded your takes. You have misspoken a lot, gotten information incorrect (Jesse escaping to "Africa" when it's Alaska and saying Jimmy swapped dates on documents when it was addresses), stuttering and just amatuer-esque mistakes. You really need to proof read and proof "watch" your stuff. Anyways, take my criticism with grace. God bless. ☦️

I loved Jack , his gang and Lidia. I thought they were great characters that really made the last season exciting. But thats just my humble opinion.
Bcs will always be better for. I connect more with Jimmy and Mike compared to walt and Jessie. The best part of brba is the first half of season 5, the team up of Jimmy, Mike, walt and Jessie
I think breaking bad has the best highs and lows of the series, while better call saul maintains a consistent high quality without ever hitting BB's peaks.
Both are fair options to be your favorite imo.
Nah I gotta disagree, I think I think the peak of better call Saul, which I consider to be “mikes episode” the court case between jimmy and chuck going, and especially story lines of character like lalo and nacho, I think they were written significantly better, I mean there was nothing wrong with it, not that there is anything wrong with breaking bad either, but I don’t think any of breaking bad peaks reaches peak BCS

Walt laying under his house turning from screaming to laughing, the award winning ricin cigarette scene, or the box cutter scene with Gus, to name a few.
On the flip I don't think any moment in BSC was even close to as stupid as the Twins plotline in BB.
I think I prefer BCS though.
@@asimplewizard mikes scene broke into possible the moved loved character in the breaking bad universe, the scene where nachos dads life is threatened gave roots to the best character is BCS, the scene where gun talks to hector in the hospital, the scene where Gus set up nachos shooting and left him in the desert, and literally any scene with lalo I think I enjoyed more than majority of breaking bad, but my favorite hands down is Saul is his final court appearance and on the prison bus

I will NEVER understand anyone who calls BCS boring. It's an utterly fascinating show from beginning to end. Better than BB imo
Why did Gus kill Vic? Why wouldn’t he? First off, Vic now knows how to cook better meth than basically everybody on Earth except the other two dudes in the lab with him. If Gus doesn’t allow him to do it (which, since Walt exists, he won’t) how long before that knowledge becomes a problem, along with Victor’s knowledge of Gus’s operation, the existence, location and (considering Vic’s demonstrably robust powers of observation) build-out of the Superlab? Vic knows everything, down to names and addresses. If Gus can’t use him, he’s gotta go or else become a huge problem and possible existential threat. The only use he has after displaying what he knows is as exclamation point and cautionary tale for Walt and Jesse.

And your pull quote/summation I put in here... It reads to me like your "exciting events" basically equates to "action" style film/tv. For me, and lots of folks, character driven writing and story can be just as 'exciting' as action. Often more so. If the final 'courtroom' confrontation between Jimmy and Chuck in Chicanery wasn't exciting enough for you, we certainly have different ideas about what constitutes excitement in film/drama/theater/etc. And like you say in your vid, that's ok. both shows 10/10, i like breaking bad more, both final seasons are incredible, i prefer breaking bad's final season there's less things to nitpick. BB walked so BCS could run (an exaggeration but BCS do capitalizes on some of BB's foundation and writers already knew their audience and how to write for them)
The tone of the 2 shows is different. BrBa is more of a thriller where one thing leads to another and the tension keeps on building till you can't breathe all leading to a brilliant conclusion where everything ties up beautifully.
BCS is more elegant and character driven. Also, I feel the writing in BCS is better. There is nothing that feels like too big of a coincidence whereas in BB there are some huge coincidences without which the story can't proceed. Also, the characters change gradually in BCS and it appears more natural. In BB the transformation is a bit more abrupt.
The ending, however, of BB is perfect. Arguably the best ending in TV history. The stakes are high, all through the show, and it all comes together perfectly at the end. BCS ended beautifully as well but BB has just set the bar too high.

I think BCS manages to edge out BB just a bit, as I feel it's just more streamlined. Then again this is like comparing a gold nugget to a slightly larger gold nugget, yeah one is bigger, but they are both gold.
True answer: Nether is better, they're a combined story. Both equally important and valuable to the full narrative. It's all one universe, one chain of events with the same characters just in different situations, and from different perspectives.

bcs may have more interesting writing on some level but the overall story arc is not nearly as good. The jim/chuck story is good but all the stuff tying in with BB was decent to not so great.

I watched the shows in chronological order (BCS first) and I have to say, I think I preferred it to BB. I think a big part was the characters and visual storytelling but I wonder would I prefer BB if I had watched it first instead

Na you need all the new characters in the last season of BB. It expands on Gus’ operation with Lydia and the German company. Todd and Uncle Jack come in handy so they can pull off the prison hits and a new operation, and Walt’s greed and shortsightedness has him working with a ruthless gang that is somehow even more low life with them being nazis. They’ve got heavy weapons and gun down dea and enslave Jesse without thinking twice, at the same time stealing most of Walt’s money setting up the huge final act. The fact you hated Jack and his crew so much just means they did a great job acting and character building. And the freeing of Jesse is the happy ending everyone wanted

Better Call Saul was definitely the better written show. Breaking bad started off kinda relying on the shock factor of a Methamphetamine manufacturer being the main character. Better Call Saul didn't need that.
Meth in the show wasn't at all shocking to me. BrBa had other qualities that made me love it. Increasingly with each passing episode.
Also lol. Ironically some of the best BCS episodes are the ones who are the closest in style to BrBab and the closest implementing certain patterns we've seen in BrBa.

I think with jacks gang, they are so intense and horrible for a reason, to show how Walt gets worse and worse as the show goes on and he works with much worse and worse people.
I can understand not liking Jack and his gang, but saying they didn't need to be there is incorrect. They carry out Walter's prison executions, they kill Hank, and yeah, they're the dragon Walt has to save the princess that is Jesse Pinkman from. I believe season 5 is about Walter White vs himself/Heisenberg. So having the season's villain be someone who represents a manifestation of Heisenberg's worst tendencies feels right. I also don't think Jack and his gang are meant to be likeable, so that's not really a flaw of the show, it's just not liking them.
Also, the writers of Breaking Bad (and Better Call Saul by extension) make everything they add in the show have a purpose, be it symbolism, plot service, or character development, etc. So if it is in the show, it's there for a storytelling reason.
And I also get not liking Lydia, but she also serves a purpose. And there's no attempt to make her important, she just is. She's a big part of helping Walter's empire expand before he quits. There are other examples to her importance that I'm currently too lazy to mention, but they relate to Jesse being kept alive.
I just find bcs better. It's not boring to me at all. I love every second of it
tbf the slow buildup of things in BCS leads to a better story tbh, because things are given time to process. Chuck's death hangs over Season 4 so much showing how it's affecting Jimmy, Kim and Howard, where in Breaking Bad, it would immediately be the next thing. The quick beat to beat nature of Breaking Bad means it has like only let's be honest
4-5 actually fleshed out characters. A lot of them are just kind of not interesting, because BCS gets to flesh out things, BCS just ends up having way better characters. because outside of Walt, Jesse, Gus and Hank. Not many characters got fleshed out in Breaking Bad. Remember Mike and Saul were just kind of ok characters before BCS came along.
BCS first me. The character development and story arks were more interesting to watch. If you’re looking for action, then BB.
If the whole of BCS was like season 4-6 I would say it’s better but unfortunately the first 3 seasons pull it down
Gus killed Victor because Walter prooved he is useful , sure Victor memorized the recipe but its just a copy , he would make less money with a crappy copy
They are Yin and Yang, Night and Day. I think both complement each other perfectly and are equal in every way.

Better Call Saul for sure, for me. It was actually the episode Better Call Saul that kept me watching BB, partly due to love for Bob Odenkirk, then BCS just farbsurpassed all expectations through new characters like Jimmy, Chuck, Kim, Nacho, and Lalo, while deepening and enriching the stories of Mike, Gus, the Salamancas, and, of course, Saul, then throws, all of BB on its head in the last episode of BCS. BCS has been woefully and wrongfully shut out of awards. Hector, Mike, Chuck, Lalo, and Nacho all should have taken home Best Supporting Actor awards while Jimmy and Kim should have gotten lead acting trophies.
BCS does NOT have a "weaker story". Breaking Bad often hinges on the fact that characters are stupid and Walter has to win. In the moment the actions seem plausible but afterwards not so much. Like Walt gets into trouble and then manages to win in the last second every single time. It gets boring. The premise of Breaking Bad is not "turn a good guy bad". Walter was half way into becoming Heisenberg in the PILOT. BCS does this so much better, we can never be sure how much of Jimmy is Saul. And the first three seasons with Jimmy's and Chuck's conflicts are perfect television all through out.

As a viewer i legit cant understand rooting for skylar tbh the whole show revolves around Walts decent into the drug world and becoming kingpin which is fascinating to see and skylar, thought definitely deserving of sympathy for having this pushed on her, goes back and forth between being an almost stereotypical nagging wife and getting involved herself whilst clearly enjoying it at some instances 🤷♂️ shes a hindrance for the viewer as well as walt while trying to claim the moral high ground
Oh and breaking bad is obv better tho BCS is amazing
