I wonder how ethically some of the Amazon items are created. The sellers of some of the cheapest items seem dubious, but I guess you get what you pay for. Ikea, while not perfect either, at least gives you the peace of mind that you can buy some of the cheapest items without compromising your morality
@@cbazxy2697 naturally customers also have a role to play by not asking where the materials come from, or how the people who make cheap items are paid. Those of us who can afford to pay more but still buy fast fashion and furniture bear more responsibility than the people who can only afford the cheapest products, however.
There are some great IKEA items for cheap, but if you look at enough charity shops and second hand markets you can often get far nicer designs for much less
Come on man, at least go to IKEA and sit in the chairs before recommending them. Same with those terrible Amazon chairs. I've lost a bit of respect for your otherwise, great videos from this one.
The opinions on Amazon don't mean anything, it might look beautiful but you really don't know what you're buying. At ikea they have to make the product good because most people will actually go and try the items in shop before buying
Sorry Daniel, but I refuse to buy anything from Amazon. If something can only be ordered on Amazon, it simply doesn't exist to me. I've tried to furnish much of my home with second-hand items that are higher quality but well-priced, and used IKEA solutions or local stores where I needed to find something with very specific dimensions or functionality.
This constant background music is so annoying. It’s like listening to someone talk over the radio. What happened to inserting music just for effect so people can actually hear the message?
Thank you for this video, Daniel. In my experience, the furniture I got from Amazon has always been hit and miss, and the lack of customer support like Ikea’s doesn’t help. Which is why I rather stick to Ikea because of the consistency in quality (not the best but often not the worst) and knowing that if I have any issue, I can contact their support team without much hassle.
I have those Amazon bar stools and the finish is total crap right out of the box. They may be solid wood but the quality is awful and likely not well sourced and just slapped out the door with little thought. Classic you get what you pay for moment. Amazon may have cheap prices but with idea the quality is at least a known quantity and consistent.
Great Video as always, although I have one problem. I dont know if its just me, but the Voiceover Audio in the recent videos sounds... very weird. It sounded much better in a video like this: ruclips.net/video/xJ1Sg40UxCc/видео.html Idk if you changed some settings, but I personally find it much harder to listen to in this video.
I don't buy from Costco or Amazon. As to IKEA always check the label and country of manufacture to be in the know on what you're buying. Sometimes it's not about the price after all.
I am not buying Amazon furniture or most of the random brand things in general on Amazon anymore. It's usually poor quality and at the end you feel ripped off compared to proper budget brand things like IKEA.
Daniel, do you really have to make nearly all pictures move slowly (I guess there is a technical expression for that but I have no idea what it is...)? This only makes me queasy as I keep thinking something is wrong with my eyes. And my attention span is not that short that I cannot bear to look at something static for more than 3 sec or so. For me, these moving things are only a very irritating mannerism... Sorry! Otherwise a great video as always!
FWIW, Ikea Leroy bamboo bed slats are great for vertical storage. I used to live in a very small studio (12x22 ft [~24 sq m], including the loo and what passed for a kitchen), and kept a twin-sized version hung on the wall next to the front door. It held my jacket, gloves, hats, scarves, umbrellas, backpack, sunglasses, headphones, and a couple of small paintings, took up almost no room, and looked okay.
bruh i love your content but can u just talk about other stuff then ikea, i think not just me that want to hear about other aspect if interior design rather than ikea ikea ikea
Regarding the Standing Desk Legs, the Amazon option is much worse compared to the one from IKEA, as it is probably the cheapest Chinese option with 1 single motor
I think its all a matter of perspective and budget. To me, IKEA has always been overpriced, plane looking furniture. I decked out my entire new house with pieces from Amazon, it was way cheaper. And as long as you are not rough with it, all pieces seem sturdy enough. Like, I pad 140 dollars for a 4 dinning chair set, and it looks ok to me. The only thing I bought that was expensive was my mattress, and the living room sofa. Things like my dinner table, I sit there maybe 4 times per week to eat dinner, for like 15 to 20 minutes tops. I don't need them to be any one high quality, same thing my coffee table; it holds a few magazines at the bottom and maybe 1 glass of water, with a coaster, like 3 times a week for 15 minutes. I paid 15 dollars for it, it does the job lol.
Will never buy from Ikea again. Purchased a dining/casual chair (not cheap) paid £15 for delivery of 2 but only 1 arrived. I was provided with a voucher to cover the £15 delivery charge but when I placed the order delivery charge was now £40. I found very smart chair at Wayfair.
The Östanö dining chair is not remotely comfortable, though. Yes, you won't kill your back, because it has decent support, but you can literally feel the frame as the upholstery runs out of sag.
Hell, i was guilty of Nolmyraling not once, but twice. Needed to have some fast seats to give my friends some comfort while they were in my new apartment. They were so abysmally unconfortable i threw them away in not more than a week worth of my time. And they were two different grays. different enough to notice without looking too much. Hahaha
lmao i touched the seat of that nolmyra chair and i was shocked it's being sold. the habric felt flimsy, no strength at all, and when i sat on it, i can immediately tell it will sink, have a dip, or rip, after a couple of weeks' use.
Hi Daniel great video if you want to buy new furniture. The alternative if someone is on a budget is to buy used furniture which is usually much better quality and price and doesn’t use valuable resources.
I think we also have to remeber that people in, for example, Europe, don’t really have good alternatives, as Amazon items are not that cheap here and shipping prices are sometimes absurd.
I'll not sure I'll continue to watch this channel as the ad content infiltration into the editorial is getting out of hand. At least order these chairs and try them for yourself, rather than just summerising reviews.
The yellow label items are internally called BTI or breath taking item. The signage and colours signal the lowest everyday price, an anchor if you will, for different product categories throughout the store. It is usually merchandised in a way to draw you into the section to either pick up that item and or to explore that section further.
Yellow label items are there to make the look a like worth the money for example Kullen chest of draws will sit next to malm chest of draws in store you will see and open a kullen an notice it has plastic runners instead of malm's metal with wheel runners.
I bought my office furniture from Amazon, industrial style from the brand Vasagle. Looks great, is not expensive, it’s sturdy - and much better to assemble than Ikea. They have put metal casings into the screw holes. Great to put it together.
I ordered the Adde $12 chair, I like the way it looks. As a 120lb woman, I will let you know how it holds up. 😂 I also ordered the match$5 stool as a side table since it is small and minimal looking, okay also cheap. 😊

Plus Amazon sellers will give discounts for 5 star reviews and some will pump the reviews up with bots
im pretty sure ikea illegally uses lumber from protected forrests in russia

This is especially true in a college town. Students often must leave behind furniture when they move.
Also look for used IKEA stuff.
Bedbugs
That's the point though, you need to look for long enough, which sometimes means hours of time, whereas Ikea is right there, 1 click away

Everything I've bought from Ikea has fallen apart within 1-2 years, so I stopped purchasing items from them.

If you have the ability, it's generally cheaper to get things second hand.
of course, ikea has infinite returns in case you don't like it, and actual customer service if something breaks
