That was practically a priceless simple solution. Tried it and it works great. I'm no longer eyeing up that space gobbling brake at harbour freight. The shit you learn.
Ray that's great. I'm thinking g about building a dredge and I'm going to have to make my sluice and crash box and I think you just saved me a ton of time and cash. Thanks again.
Thank You Sir 👍 Wrapping my 24 year old Insulated Rotisserie Smoker Pit, and using diamond plate aluminum to do so. It originally had diamond plate metal painted black, so this aluminum is a big upgrade as far as looking New. I really appreciate your blue collar get-r-done way make it happen technique Sir. Btw Nice Beard.
This 9 year old video give me the idea of creating a metal V-shaped wheel attached to a handle and now you can roll the wheel alon the bent line and tap it the handle with a hammer to scribe a line. Thank you bearded RUclips friend and greetings from Germany. I hope you are all right. Also with alu (depending on the alloy) you have to be careful bending it this way because the metal breaks easily. You can even scribe it with a carpet cutter knife and then brake it into piece with a clean cut.
I watched a couple of other videos that heated the aluminum before bending. I don't have a torch, so this seems much better to me. But are there some strength advantages to heating? Does cold bending weaken the metal?
+DukeLaCrosse20 aluminum is a odd metal when you bend or hit it it gets harder and heating it tales some of the harding out of it , the is kind of a fine line with this method you cant hit it to deep or it will cut it in halve yet not enough and it wont bend
Thanks bud. That's super helpful. I hope this is an old video and you've since grabbed yourself a tripod :) they're not expensive and it will increase the quality of the video immensely. I almost clicked BACK when you set that camera on the ground (im glad i didn't) But we want to see what you see. Thanks again!
I have an aluminium motorcycle frame and I wanted to get a hammer to try to bend a tab thing that my seat hump sits on and locks onto as the seat humps got a huge gap one side it looks an eye soar. it must of bent at some point. if I knocked it with a hammer gently to try to bend it back am I at risk of it snapping off? it’s quite thick. I’d say 5-6 mm. I was thinking maybe it’s best I heat it first then give it a few taps to bend it. can you let me know what you think?
I never thought of that! After seeing that it totally makes sense. Thanks for sharing. I'm trying to bend a 3/16 aluminum strip into a half round shape. Any suggestions?
Here's a tip on heating aluminum, get a bar of soap lather some up in your hand and smear the area ,heat until the soap turns brown, should be easier to work, learnt that in school many years ago , called anealing I think,
Excellent, thanks. Making up a battery/coil cover for my '71 Triumph, and this is a big help for the last two angles I can't fit into the brake.
Best video for bending aluminum that I have seen on youtube so far ! Thank you sir for taking the time to show us this technique !
I live in Alaska, and building a new Sluice Box out of Aluminum. My old one was made out of wood and hard to pack out into the Mountains.
"Hidden in plain sight " for those of us that still learning. Thanks for the tip. Gonna subscribe & liked

not gonna lie, that was a super-crisp shot of the floor. lol
lolol
Just saved me from having to go back to a shop to have them bend another piece. I appreciate you sir 🤙🏼

And the project gets even cheaper when you make use of a stolen road sign. lol
Stop dry snitching lol
someone hit the sign and it fell into my garage
You paint it over and it's not a sign anymore.
This is what I'm looking for. Planning on building a center console out of a street sign, the fan shroud was a pain. I'll try this method for sure 👍🏻
Old school codger. Never fucking do the job without a hammer. Remind me of my grandpa.
Thanks for the info sir that’ll do for sure.
Thank You Sir 👍

+Sharky's It was a sign off of a store that went out of business ,
Nice tip. Thanks you!
Bending machine will work great.....looks pretty easy on building one......but nice trick anyway
What's the thickness ???
Looks like 1/8”
Now that's cool.. I've always used 2×4s, but I think I'm going to do that next time
lol sluice box is why I am here
Thanks worked a treat
That's awesome man thanks
well done mate... good show..
Perfect! Thanks!
This is awesome. Thanks.
Thanks a lot!

Hi sir , You do not have to bend the aluminium on the opposite site to where you hit??
I like your idea. Thank you
I like this very cool Ray :)
will this work on an inch wide aluminum ruler? im trying to make fog light brackets
Stresses the alloy. Should heat it first 100%
Does anyone know the thickness of the aluminum that is used in this video?

you should be able to cold roll using some pvc pipe start with larger size like 5 inch and work your way down to the size you need
hello sir please tell me .how to bend aluminium sheet circle bend 1.25".
The music spoils it
Question? How this is the stock here?
Does it help if you heat the line area with a torch before bending it ?
not really !!! but to insure or help it from cracking it would help to heat it befor you make the bend

hello Ray: I use a I beam and a piece of 1/4"angle iron ,two hinges ,weld. wallah you are in business.bend away.
Yeah I'd😢like to see you do that ! I've seen them bend stuff with DIY breaks with angle iron thanks tk
Where do I get an ice cold chisel?
Any Home Depot, ACE, or Lowes will have one
@@Astrobradbury In the freezer section course
