    Excellent, thanks. Making up a battery/coil cover for my '71 Triumph, and this is a big help for the last two angles I can't fit into the brake.

    That was practically a priceless simple solution. Tried it and it works great. I'm no longer eyeing up that space gobbling brake at harbour freight. The shit you learn.

    Wrapping my 24 year old Insulated Rotisserie Smoker Pit, and using diamond plate aluminum to do so.
    It originally had diamond plate metal painted black, so this aluminum is a big upgrade as far as looking New.
    I really appreciate your blue collar get-r-done way make it happen technique Sir.

    This 9 year old video give me the idea of creating a metal V-shaped wheel attached to a handle and now you can roll the wheel alon the bent line and tap it the handle with a hammer to scribe a line. Thank you bearded RUclips friend and greetings from Germany. I hope you are all right.
    Also with alu (depending on the alloy) you have to be careful bending it this way because the metal breaks easily. You can even scribe it with a carpet cutter knife and then brake it into piece with a clean cut.

    I watched a couple of other videos that heated the aluminum before bending. I don't have a torch, so this seems much better to me. But are there some strength advantages to heating? Does cold bending weaken the metal?

    • @RayRusawcocktailminer
      @RayRusawcocktailminer  8 лет назад +4

      +DukeLaCrosse20 aluminum is a odd metal when you bend or hit it it gets harder and heating it tales some of the harding out of it , the is kind of a fine line with this method you cant hit it to deep or it will cut it in halve yet not enough and it wont bend

I almost clicked BACK when you set that camera on the ground (im glad i didn't) But we want to see what you see. Thanks again!

    I have an aluminium motorcycle frame and I wanted to get a hammer to try to bend a tab thing that my seat hump sits on and locks onto as the seat humps got a huge gap one side it looks an eye soar. it must of bent at some point. if I knocked it with a hammer gently to try to bend it back am I at risk of it snapping off? it’s quite thick. I’d say 5-6 mm. I was thinking maybe it’s best I heat it first then give it a few taps to bend it. can you let me know what you think?

      not really !!! but to insure or help it from cracking it would help to heat it befor you make the bend

      Here's a tip on heating aluminum, get a bar of soap lather some up in your hand and smear the area ,heat until the soap turns brown, should be easier to work, learnt that in school many years ago , called anealing I think,
