I also had the same problems with the side panels. Before I ordered new ones, I first tried to weld the crack on the inside. Unfortunately it didn't help because it remains a weak spot if it is already torn. So I bought and installed new side panels. I will also do the parts you removed with the dremel tomorrow. Ya I found the same thing too. Once the plastic breaks it's very weak even iff glued back together. Hopefully your new plastics stay crack free!
