Lemon is OST of Japanese drama "Unnatural" and tells the story of death and life, from the perspective of those who you left behind, and those who had gone away from the realms of life. Umji said that "Separating from a loved one is not just breakup, but will never see you again. I want to sing from the standpoint of the person who left rather than the person who stayed."
if you watch the first cover in the fanmeeting, she sounded so happy. in this cover it sounds so sad, everything is just so sad. and the lyrics are so bittersweet, suits gfriend members.
Oh yea.. I just realized that
Umji's voice has always been unique to me for how it coveys the sense of the feeling of something delicate, genuine and innocent, never overly decorated but focused on the sentimentality. And her vocal technique has improvement tremendously for her own color. Love this cover. Yes, we feel the pride of Umji's personal growth and development.
yeah you're right. Umji sang this song at a fanmeeting in Japan back in 2020 (im sure you've watched the clip from some gfriend's compilation video, right?). and now the official/studio version of it was finally released.

The original song by Kenshi Yonezu is great and this cover is great too. I know you don't really react to J-Pop on your channel but I would recommend checking out Kenshi's music when you get the chance, he has a really good discography.
