I totally agree. Every movie he's always playing a tough guy, gangster, thug, etc. But when he plays a gay man he really busts his acting chops. For the first time he plays someone compassionate, charitable, and vulnerable and does an excellent job. This scene is Oscar material!
L1F3 1NVAD3R ving had courage to play this role. Any other actor would have bitched out but ving did it because he didn’t have any prejudice in his heart and wanted to portray something different for once. That’s just my opinion
Lot of comments question wheres Oscar award Industry: Ving playing this role, along with the rape scene from Pulp Fiction are called "humiliation roles" no oscars. Was offered a role in Baby Boy after though. One of my favorite Ving Rhames movies: Rosewood
How these Two never got Oscar awards for these performances is truly unbelievable!!!!! They both ACTED TF OUT THESE ROLES!!! Biggest crime in black cinema!!!
@@hyperextendedbrooklin3963 no, Emmy is correct for when this movie came out. This was a television film, not a feature film. It wasn't until things like Hulu and Netflix came out where the "rules" of the Oscars changed. If Holiday Heart came out today on Netflix, then it would've been nominated for an Oscar.
Man, this movie was so ahead of its time. Shoutout to Ving for being comfortable going there, emotionally and mentally. The fact that his next film (Baby Boy) was him playing a thug, whose in tune with his emotions. The RANGE! Such a great actor.
“Poor little orphan girl she got passed around to foster homes! Well try being passed around between 20 men in a jail cell! A place a 16 year old should’ve never laid eyes on, let alone spent 10 years in.” 🥺💔
Charlie Pye Jr. is the smart and well-behaved fourteen-year-old boy convicted of murdering his mother's abusive boyfriend, George. He is sent to an adult jail, where he is repeatedly raped by other inmates. All based on a true story.
sadly, because it wasn’t released in theaters, it was an original showtime movie. if it had just got released through a different format, it would’ve had a chance. 😭❤️
Absolutely hilarious. This is why you should be careful which parts you choose. He was in Mission Impossible. I'm thinking. I can't take him serious after this. It's not the gay part it's how low budget the makeup and movie is. That wig he wears while in drag. Just too many much.😂😂😂
One time I had a dream that I was holed up in a mall with Ving Rhames during the zombie apocalypse...I found him in the shoe department trying on stilettos...That was the last time I watched Dawn of The Dead and Holiday Heart in the same night.
God that was intense. I've never seen this, it came up under my notifications, but now I HAVE to see this. What outstanding acting, I almost cried just from this one clip!
His story really hit me so sad I was molested by a woman smh when I was 8 to 10🥺🤦🏽♀️ she told me to never tell nobody so I didn’t until I was 19 to 20 years old I finally told my family the truth I got so ashamed tho and said I lied but it’s really the truth she made me think it was normal like it was okay but that’s my truth that woman that did it is my little brother mom💯❤️🩹🥺
I'm sorry you went through that Sabriya you didn't no deserve that. I'm glad God saw you though and you told your truth in the end. It's not your fault don't be ashamed beautiful 💜
im so sorry, she had zero right to touch you, don't ever feel like it's your fault. she's disgusting and she knew better than to put her hands on an 8-10 year old girl in that way.
I’ve never seen this movie before . But it really breaks my heart how holiday heart lived a life with someone he loved so much and his heart was filled by gods love and memories of his lover that he shared with.
This movie proves that Ving Thames can Believably Play the Role Of Anybody and Any Title. From The Bouncer of Demi Moore's Striptease" to " The Bouncing Drag Queen" of "Holiday Heart!" ❤️ He is Acting his "Switching Behind OFF"! God Bless you and Yours, Ving and to All of the Cast (Alfre, from the Streets to CEO - "The Family That PREYS" much Heart Shown!❤️
Wanda did Holiday wrong. He provided a shelter and a home for her and her daughter and turned around and she let a louse like Silas come and ruin everything. My Grandma always used to tell me when you see trash on the streets, let it stay there. Sometimes people can take your kindness for weakness and Holiday's heart was too big to see it. I thought Ving Rhames performance was phenomenal. In most of his movies he plays a big tough guy good and bad, but to play a crossdresser was awesome. Just like Wesley Snipes did in the movie with Patrick Swayze.
@Lauden Clear You created this clip at the exact points I believe summarizes this entire scene! I would have created the clip at the exact points as well! GREAT WORK! Be Blessed
If you enjoy this movie, you may also enjoy "Flawless" that came out a year later with Phillip Seymour Hoffman and Robert DeNiro. Hoffman plays a sympathetic drag queen in that movie too.
I always loved this movie growing up, even though now I understand the movie more and more & why holiday was the way he is. Even though Ving can act his butt off I just wished he didn’t have to play this role, knowing how dark Hollywood is. May God protect him 🙏🏾🙏🏾
Another one of those blakc films that should of won many oscars including best actor. Ving played this role ao damn good. Made you think he was gay in real life.

L1F3 1NVAD3R I know, right? I love Ving Rhames because he continues to grow as an actor.
No
You are so right. Man if this ain’t “acting” then idk what is!

@** that shower scene he did in that Adam Sandler film. Smh. Dude played himself
This scene got me all choked up when Holiday told his life story and how he is proud of the way he lives his life. :'(
Tekia Huggins Every time
My favorite scene in this movie...

This scene was sad af. Holiday loved the hell out of Wanda and Nikki. And this is how she repays him. Smh. Damn.
Yes he did
Trea, you know it’s fiction, right?
@@johnnunn8688 of course, were talking about the story.
Me and Wanda have the same birthday ❤
@Doctor MindBenDa this movie made me sad to my stomach and the saddest part is when wanda ends up dying at the end ;(
Ving is a hell of an actor.
yes he should have got some type of an award for this
I remember the night this movie ever premiered a lot of ppl forgot this was a Showtime original movie

I remember when they use to play this on bet... Love this movie this is up there with Friday & poetic justice
This movie is one of my favorites. Hands down.
Hannah Kramer mine too
Jade b me too
They still do! Just watched it yesterday.😢
Why cause it funny
Ving Rhames is such a versatile actor. He can play a hardened convict or a gay man and still be so great. Give this man an Oscar. He deserves it.
“I thought you loved me Wanda” that scene is heartbreaking 🥺
B hn hu let we
But NOT THE LIFESTYLE❤😊
The fact he did this movie before baby boy hits hard 💯 great actor ✊🏽
Yep baby boy came out a year later
I always thought it was cool how he played Holiday and then played Melvin a year later. He got skills, can't take that away from him
Ving should’ve gotten a Emmy award or something because he played the hell out of this role!
@Reginald Wilson she has always been a good actress, & i think Ving won an award for his acting ability, but not for this movie, but he's good too
