    With which kestrel model is it compatible?

  • @chrismartinez8393
    @chrismartinez8393 5 лет назад +1

    Hope Kestrel will make HUD system a standalone unit with AB and not depend on the Kestrel 5700. The 2800 is what I'm going to upgrade to this summer. The HUD with 2800 would be a better combo. The HUD screen is much bigger and the font is bigger to.

    • @XRING
      @XRING  5 лет назад

      Chris Martinez Hey Chris. The HUD is going to be a big seller for them. I might be wrong, but I specifically asked if it was a standalone unit and was told no.
      However, it will work with the Wilcox, 2800, and a slew of other units.

    • @chrismartinez8393
      @chrismartinez8393 5 лет назад +1

      @@XRING maybe the Rivic unit will kick their butt. A lot of people are getting tired of Kestrel stuff. They need to listen to the COSTUMER not just put out a product just try to sell it.The HUD needs to be a standalone. I would buy it. I would buy the Garmin but I'm not interested in a GPS or a Email that drains the battery. The biggest thing I'm looking for Is the ability to capture the Weather for the day and down load a range card to laminate it. We all know shit breaks and having a library of shooting data as back is key. But the Revic looks very promising. It's on the sniperhide.com forum in the ballistic section . Very cool looking.

    So I have a question. Now that the product is actually out now, when linked to the 5700 elite, can you range a target and the solution from the kestrel show up inside the Leica range finder? Or does that option only work from a smart phone?

      Yes, I have the 2800 and kestrel 5700 and your elevation and windage corrections show up on the kestrel and in the Leica. It's pretty awesome! Very fast and accurate.

    What output is available for elevation? My 1600b only gives MOA output in whole numbers with out any more resolution. Example 300 yards MOA 2, not 2.2 or 2.3. Is this still the case with the 2800?

    • @patrickferrell8149
      @patrickferrell8149 2 года назад

      Just in case someone is curious the 2800 does output elevation in two digits for example MOA - 9.8 at say 600 yards. I ended up buying one and it works pretty damn good. The weather and calculations match BallisticsARC perfect.

    • @XRING
      @XRING  5 лет назад

      Jerry Sun The Leica is designed with hunting in mind. If you don’t need MOA accuracy at 700+ yards you should be fine with either of them. The glass in the Leica is better for sure.

    • @drd1924
      @drd1924 5 лет назад +1

      @@jerrysun4747 the 1600B I have has 12 preset options.....One of them will get you close but not be exact. I accept this since different elevations and temps and Barometric pressures change load characteristics and will never be exact anyhow from one loacation to another. When I say close I mean the trajectory tables follow within 2 moa out to perhaps 500 yds. This is pretty good to at least get you darn close on your first shot.
      From what I've read the Leica 2700B is even better and can be tailored to match your load through computer plug in.
      Also compare beam divergence...the smaller the better for long range.

    Is the crf 2700 not a step above this being a stand alone unit with the ability to input your own data. Or am I missing something

    • @XRING
      @XRING  5 лет назад

      Hey Killian, great question. All the Leica rangefinding Ballistics units including the 2000 and 3000 series of binos have stand alone software. However, it is horrible. They need to integrate Applied Balllistics into those units. With this unit, it will interface with the Kestrel with AB so you will have better data for making first round hits. Even Leicas custom Ballistics software isn’t accurate enough.

    Hi how far off are their balistic app on the custom curve?

    • @XRING
      @XRING  5 лет назад

      Enough to miss non “game” targets at distances of 600 or more yards. Such as 8” steels, etc.
      Even building my own custom curve I noticed errors that I could not get ballistically trued with their program.
