Smashed it buddy! That 10x1k sesh is mad, you ripped it - definitely shows there’s plenty more room for improvement over the marathon with that kinda 10k speed (I’ve never been able to average under 2:55s for that session) 🔥
Matt really is the definition of a heavy sweater. Congrats again. We need Reem to share what she did to bring down her time too. Am on that same timing path right now
Yes, you are totally right about the speed. For me, as a old (59 now) former middle distance runner my speed feels gone the last years with training for longer distances. Now since a couple of months I put more sprints (60-100m) into the training. And it feels so much better now! Technical (biomechanical) I start to run (again) better👍!
I'm glad you were able to build on Chicago and execute at Indy. Still room to build! Hopefully Reem can stay healthy ahead of CIM and build on the Chicago result!
Awesome! I got to see you on the lakefront a week out of the race! So glad to see you hit your goal. I was also able to manage to run by sub 2:50 goal with a 2:47:47 😎
16:00 This is what we learn in A-Level PE (UK) about what carb loading is, the depletion for 3-4 days then ramping up loads for 2 days before race day. Cool to hear that it works well.
Loved this, thanks for all the insight. You are so intuitive with running and it’s really helped me access my own running since my 1st mara 23 years ago. Did Indy’s weather get a 9 bc it definitely could’ve been 10-15°F cooler?
Hi Matt, congrats on the incredible result! How do you adjust training when you're training in really warm, humid conditions every day like Singapore/Malaysia where every easy run (doesn't feel easy) and easy runs feel like steady runs because of the heat?
Walking the walk 💪, though not the focus of this vlog, you have inspired me from a diet consistancy perspective. have set a side goal to be 180- 179lbs by next April
Awesome job Matt. The indy marathon was my first full marathon after starting running 18 months ago at age 45. Finished 3:29' 08" giving everything I had, but I definitely left feeling like there is a lot more room to get faster.
Stupid question cause I suffer the overheating sweat thing like yourself but "if allowed" would your run a marathon with your top off like you do in training? Would that benefit getting rid of heat?
Man. When you run sub 2:20 that race video so much more worth it. Looks like Omega man. Meanwhile everyone over 2:50 finishing in huge swaths of humanity.
Fun fact: there is no such race called the Indianapolis Marathon. You ran the Monumental Marathon. There was a race called Indianapolis, but it shut down years ago. Cheers and congrats though!
so you recommend losing weight to run marathons? (Just kidding, I find it so funny that folks get offended, while the key factor in running that we're all fighting against is gravity).
YES, SPEED IS VERY IMPORTANT, BUT FOR ENDURANCE TEMPO RUN AND FOR STAMINA LONG RUN: SPEED, ENDURANCE AND STAMINA. YOU HAVE TO COMBINE THESE THREE COMPONENTS.
Very few races with strong fields to compete with have guaranteed cold weather. It’s easy to find a freezing marathon with a winning time of 3:00 but 2:15-2:20… very few if any. Plus right now I am stuck in the Us waiting on a green card and have been for almost a year

Those cramps dont leave you!!! Without them you might hit 2:16/17
Nice job. Congrats to both

Congrats on the new PR! Minor constructive video feedback--give your wife a microphone for these quasi-Q&A videos.
Thank you, yes good idea in future, thank you
Not just that, but also don't increase the volume of the music as she starts speaking. Happened every time which made it harder to hear her 😅
@@JJR-Running that was just the way the song played, weirdly enough
So awesome, congrats!💪🏼😎🚀

Congratulations, dude. Long time coming.

I took a lot of things away from this, but biggest one was that 'Fortnight' is a British/Aussie thing and not US. 😂 + rebranding/name is a smart one.
Congrats brother such an inspiration
Congrats man! It just keeps getting better.

This is the good stuff, Matt. This is the good stuff so stoked for you, man.
Great work, man! Outstanding!

Congratulations Matt on your new pb. Sub 2.20 again is awesome.Fantastic running!! 👊👏
Stupid question cause I suffer the overheating sweat thing like yourself but "if allowed" would your run a marathon with your top off like you do in training? Would that benefit getting rid of heat?
Absolutely it would. I saw many at NYC running without a shirt, I’m not sure if it’s an issue in a sub-elite / elite field
Great stuff Matt. Hugh congratulations and very well deserved.
Congrats on an amazing race. Will you do a sweat elite training session with Charlie Lawrence? Saw you two working together at the race and wondered.
Cramps, the dreaded C word. They have stopped me breaking 2.50 a couple of times. Well done Matt, great to see you breaking 2.20 again.
That's really impressive and inspiring achievement! Congratulations!
Can u say that high mileage training is the most important thing that get u to run sub 2:20 ?
I think body weight / diet is #1, followed by mileage followed by gym, but it’s hard to know for sure
If u have to bet , body weight / diet vs high mileage ?
Like a fine wine 🍷
Congrats 🥇👊🏾
Fantastic run, proper ripped it. Well done mate
Awesome result! Wondering why Indy vs CIM since the later would give you a little more time to train and push to 2:16 shape that you are ?
hey man, i see you doing 2:09 in marathon very easy. just believe it and you can do it.
Man. When you run sub 2:20 that race video so much more worth it. Looks like Omega man. Meanwhile everyone over 2:50 finishing in huge swaths of humanity.
Bravo
Gets married & sets two marathon PB’s on the bounce….coincidence??? I think not.
Definitely has a reason to get out of the house and run more 😂
@ good point 😂
Fun fact: there is no such race called the Indianapolis Marathon. You ran the Monumental Marathon. There was a race called Indianapolis, but it shut down years ago. Cheers and congrats though!
You could do chevron houston. Houston is hot but not usually in mid January. Usually 45-50F
so you recommend losing weight to run marathons? (Just kidding, I find it so funny that folks get offended, while the key factor in running that we're all fighting against is gravity).
😉
Literally. Weight is everything. I am 20-25 kg heavier than kenyans with similar height and i am not even fat.
Big congrats on Indy! These recap videos are great! Thanks for all the info. Question: Can you give Reem a mic? 😁
Thank you, yes good call.
These camps coming to Europe Matt? Right up my street! Massive congrats on your runs. Had you on the app! Frothing.
Yes they are in 2025
@@sweatelite sign me up!
what distance do you think you can achieve an elite result?
None

#8!!
We are so back. Maybe Kudos
epic
You are an animal
why don't you just do a marathon in a colder country lol
