Yes that's the right way. This happened to me. I am the money transferr by the way and mistakenly transferred to the wrong account and by bank help I got my money back. But here is one problem as well if the opposite account holder withdraws money then you can't get it back. Luckily in my case that account was dead account of some child(government school kids account for getting government scheme money) so I got it after 9 months

or you can ask the scammer to ask his bank to raise a money back request to your bank, and if he is able to does so, than ofcourse it's no scam but he's not able to raise a money back request from his end than obviously he's a scammer.
