It had to of started some where. That's like saying Black Sabbath is hard rock but they are classified as the pioneers of heavy metal. Genres evolve. This was the beginning of a new genre and Death took it and fine tuned it.

He gave me a copy of the dvd at my house in Long Beach many years ago. This show actually began with March To Die and Pentagram and then went into Beasts.

How can you put Primus on the same level as Grunge? Primus actually made some really interesting music, compared to the watered down Grunge bullshit coming out in the 90's.
What the fuck were they thinking going in a more thrash than death direction or black direction. Its like they were unsure what to do with their talent. If you check out their interviews they admit they're not into pigeon holing or ascribing to any particular movement although they wouldn't mind being part of one. Chuck Schuldiner stayed at their club and hanged out with them. He knew all their riffs. Imagine if he'd recorded a couple of records with them. Imagine if Sepultura had stuck to dark black death metal like they did in Morbid Visions. Imagine if Slayer had gone full on death mode right after Reign in Blood. Goddamn it all to hell.

Never understood what the big deal was with these guys... The music was never anything special or ground breaking, true they were very young at the time of their first album and I owned it because back then that's how you heard music ( you had to buy it) Always thought the vocals were weak, they had some cool riffs but nothing to be considered influential, other bands at the time left a much bigger mark on the scene
it was very ground breaking, it was pretty much the first step towards death metal, Death was the band that took what possessed had put down and turned it into death metal.
Back then they are first band with speed,dark riffs and growling vocals,and in my onpinion they have mayor influence on early death,and morbid angel style of music,you are or too young or too stupid to understand that!
