Your positivity and the way you compliment people you have encountered in your life is so incredible, and if it ever became contagious we would have a much better world
Of my many Neil Diamond favorites, there's one album that comes out every Christmas, and I still get goosebumps when I hear the track 'Oh Holy Night', always on high volume. Neil Diamond's version of this hymn is very moving, with beautiful orchestration and gorgeous harmonies. Makes Christmas eve something special in our house every year for decades now.
My first memory of Neil Diamond: 1971, I was eleven years old. We lived close to a quite large area of open land, that we affectionately referred to as 'The Moss'. That summer, myself and a few of my friends managed to convince our parents to let us take tents, and go 'camping' on the moss. In the early hours of the first night / morning we were in our tents, I found myself unable to sleep. Therefore I was back beside the dying embers of the campfire, with the transistor radio. Neil Diamond came on singing 'Crackling Rosie'. Never really having given much attention to music, I thought ' this is pretty good' So, That was the first single that I ever bought.
Thanks Lee for playing a Neil Diamond song today…I can’t remember if I heard that song before…I’m just an old dude listening to music you know. I’m a huge fan of Neil and also of Albert Hammond…two great artists, beside of you of course….! The first song I heard from Neil Diamond was I AM I SAID I guess it was in 1970 and I was about 13 years old…I still love this song today and I still listen to some Neil Diamond song in these days…I’m listening to a lot of different music and I’m always surprised that I heard you on so much records and songs that I love without knowing that you was playing the bass on it Lee. Thanks all the music that you played over the years and for sharing it together with us here on your channel. Have a great day Lee and stay healthy and safe…peace, love and happiness to you and everyone else…take care of yourself
I was about the same age when I started listening to Neil. My sister had his Stones album. I’ve listened to that 1000’s of times, so good. 1970-71 saw so much good music created. He has Parkinson’s, and I often wonder how he’s doing. It was beautiful of him to stream his last tour.
Hi Lee and fellow followers! Neil Diamond has written some great music over the years. I had the pleasure of seeing him in concert many years ago and he put on a great show. I'm pretty sure we all have or are watching today's Kelly Clarkson show! There is a really cool "old dude" sitting in with the her band today playing bass. I'm betting Kelly will score higher ratings today since we're all watching! Get vaccinated, stay healthy, and have a great day all!
Another legendary artist, a great song with plenty of Bass in the mix! Neil Diamond has Parkinson’s Disease and is unlikely to tour again but a cameo appearance may be possible!?! (Never say never)
I am a drummer. I’ve played in bands all my life. When I was young all I wanted to make it big in the music scene just to have an opportunity to play with you. Well that didn’t happen. I’m 66 years old and I still play in a worship band, which is great because the bar scene is dead except for the open mic gigs which pay nothing. So at home I enjoy playing along with songs that you played on and there is no shortage of those. Thanks for the music Lee.
Most people see the sainted Mr. Diamond as a certain type of artist with a certain type of audience. One of the funniest things is to watch their faces when they realize just how many rockers worship him at the altar. Truly, he crossed all boundaries
Neil has such a distinctive and iconic voice, just love his songs❣️. Thank you Leland. Want to remind everyone that you are on Kelly Clarkson show today. Stay safe everyone 🤗 and have a great rest of your Friday 👍😉
Neil diamond has always been a wonderful man 💙🎶 Thank you Lee for your kind words about everyone. So nice not to hear negative all the time I've been getting my house ready for Halloween decorating the outside for the kids in the neighborhood. So don't make me get my flying monkeys😁 Everyone have a great weekend, be safe.
My mother was a huge Neil Diamond fan, so his music was always playing in our house while I was growing up. She (and I, by default) got to see him live a few times and it was always a great experience. Diamond not only wrote great music, but his lyrics were also incredible. "Longfellow Serenade" and "Brooklyn Roads" come to mind immediately. Thanks for posting this, Lee. It brought back a flood of memories.
Neil is one of my all time favorites. Seen him in concert many times, starting in 1979. Hot August Night, Beautiful Noise, Live At The Greek, great albums. Too many to list!
Finally back to watching, Lee. Just working too many hours. Neil Diamond, that was a shocker when he retired due to health issues. I was privileged to see him in concert at the Pepsi Center in Denver (the Christmas show). Paid extra for the meet and greet after the concert. Neil didn't stay long after 3+ hours on stage. Hope you've been doing well. Stay well, stay safe too.
Three artists 100% make me miss my dad even more Thats James Taylor, Neil Diamond & Laurence Juber. We were concert Buddys and saw JT, ND & LJ many times over. Now Bill Cinque plays a Saturday street concert in La Cresenta . Thanks for always bring us the best of the best.
and... that's not being Lucky..Fortunate, well .yes, but you looked for it .. found it and did it.. still listening to you from the early 70's and am very fortunate to take part somehow in the fortune you made come true and shared with many of us wanting to listen
Always an interesting show!!! Matter of fact I’ve been here from the start and I’m gonna be here as long as Lee does it!!!!! Met some great people here also! Enjoy your weekend everyone!!!!
Every day is an education. Never really thought about the tambourine player so central to many Motown records. Guess it was so good it had to be somebody who specialised😊
Neil Diamond produced such a wide range of songs, from singular biographical urban-scapes (Brooklyn Roads) to Hobo funk (Cracklin rosie) Mystical ballads (Lady Magdalene) and rock fantasies, amazing work!
My favorite Neil Diamond album was “Stones” - so many nuanced songs like Leonard Cohen’s “Suzanne”, “If You Go Away”, “The Last Thing on my Mind”, and of course the title track. He is my Sinatra.
I'm glad to know that Neil was a great hang. I seen an interview with Neil awhile ago. It seemed as though he was dismayed at the way the music business was going.
I truly hope Neil can get healthy enough to perform again, as he is an amazing performer and an absolute beast of a songwriter! He wrote both of the Monkeys' biggest hits, and used to do them in a medley back in the day.
Hello...!'m from Brazil. ...🇧🇷...Neil Diamond...great singer...🎵 .nossa, essa barba bem cultivada , deve ter mais de 2 years!...have a great day, sir.!
Hot August Night was a real standout. His voice is so distinctive. When my Dad starting singing Beautiful Noise, I knew he was appealing to a different audience.
Hello lee and everyone. Man, I think it soooo amazing that you know all this information. Info about Elvis AND the Beatles. The forefathers of modern music. If you ever want to know something about some singer or instrument player JUST ASK LEE. 😁😎 Great selection of songs again. I wish everybody a fun weekend.
Gorgeous playing on this track Lee. I love that upper register, melodic stuff that you're such a brilliant practitioner of. It really elevates a song. Thanks!
When I heard the title I wondered if it would be this. My first thoughts were Aswad who were a reggae band that did a cover of this. As regards Neil, mum has always been a big fan, and took her to Wembley Arena to see him. Started cussing as we got caught up in traffic as there was an international football match at the stadium. Needn’t have worried , they held up Neil’s performance as Princess Diana was in the audience!
My mom LOVED Neil Diamond. This was early 70s and I was a young kid. It was weird seeing your mom have have a crush on someone. She loved Mark Spitz too!
I have been a fan pretty much from the start. I would draw special attention to his Tap Root Manuscript and Hot August Night albums. The former for its scope of creativity and the latter as one of the great live albums.
Man….Carlos had a DEEP pocket. What a crying shame. I’m reminded of Russ while listening to him on drums here - that laid back feel yet right on time. Just so damn good. Perfect actually!
Didn’t know Neil did a version of that song. The first time I heard Don’t Turn Around was by the band Eyes on their 1990 self titled album with vocals by the great Jeff Scott Soto. That album was produced by Children of the Sun producer Spencer Proffer.
I just subscribed to your channel, I am glad that I did. I am 61 years old, been into music since I was 3 years old. I like what you say sir. If I could ever meet any musicians, I'd love to meet The New Colony Six from Chicago, they were on Centaur Records
Funny how I've been collecting all of Neil's UNI stuff (still need a good HOT AUGUST NIGHT) and I even have some of his Bang material to be watching your video on working with him, Lee... -- o-\ : D /-o
FYI, I just saw that the Susanna Hoffs album (featuring some young unknown on bass....) is being released November 12th. First single on RUclips is Badfinger's Name of the Game with Aimee Mann joining on vocals: ruclips.net/video/MCl3MGjCHSA/видео.html Sounds great! 👍👍👍
I'm putting in this comment early in the video, so I don't know if Lee will mention it later, but one special thing about Neil is that he gets NONE of the profits from the merch. ALL of his merch profits are donated to various charities. Jus a classy guy.

Maybe it was mentioned in the commentary but the song is from Neil Diamond’s ‘Lovescape’ album, I believe 1991 or 1992.

Great Bowie tune to open the show🎶👍
lee you are a lucky/smart man to have never been divorced. one of your stellar accomplishments. the jazz singer always sounds great.
Wow! Sounds great! A legend! You're a legend yourself! Thanks for sharing your journey!

Always loved his voice.
His duet with Barbara Streisand " You don't bring me flowers"❤️
@Ann Caswell as well as pretty much all of his early stuff, just loved "Be" and "Love on The Rocks"
👋👋 Kelly Clarkson is liking Leland Sklar on bass today!
Lol…. Funny at work. Sweet Caroline was sung to me at times. Nice memory.
I alway remember Neil Diamond's voice

Saw you rockin with Kelly today. 👍

You mentioned working on a Christmas album. Why not spend some time in December revisiting all your Christmas work?
